Multi-finger design is used to increase the input current. Common base configuration is compared with common emitter configuration, and shows a smaller K factor at high frequency span, indicating a larger breakpoint frequency of maximum stable gain/maximum available gain (MSG/MAG) and thus a higher gain near the cut-off frequency, which is useful in THz amplifier design.展开更多

The oscillator circuit consists of seven delay stages and an output buffer inverter. The element inverter exhibits a voltage gain higher than -6 V/V and a wide output swing close to 85% of the full swing range. The dynamic performance of the ring oscillators is evaluated as a function of supply voltage and at different gate lengths. A maximum oscillation frequency of 0.88MHz is obtained for a supply voltage of 50V, corresponding to a propagation delay of less than 85 ns/stage.展开更多

These small systems are enabled by the development of new measurement techniques and systems (labs), based on the impedance as biomarker. The electrical properties of the life mater allow the straightforward, low cost and usually non-invasive measurement methods to define its status or value, with the possibility to know its time evolution. This work proposes a review of bio-impedance based methods being employed to develop new LoC (Lab-on-a-Chips) systems, and some open problems identified as main research challenges, such as, the accuracy limits of measurements techniques, the role of the microelectrode-biological impedance modeling in measurements and system portability specifications demanded for many applications.展开更多

The tuning curves of ZGP OPO are calculated. The 8 ×6 ×18 (mm) ZGP crystal, whose end faces are antireflection coated at 2.1 and 3.7 4.6 μ m, is cut as θ =53.5°, φ =0°. When the pump power of 2.1-μ m polarized laser is 15 W at 8 kHz, 5.7-W output power and 46.6% slope efficiency are obtained with a ZGP type I phase match. Central wavelengths of the signal and idler lasers are 4.10 and 4.32 μ m, respectively. Pulse duration is about 27 ns. Beam quality factor M 2 is better than 1.8. The tunability of 3 5 μ m can be achieved by changing the angle of the ZGP crystal.展开更多

In the proposed system, the tunable fundamental microware signal is generated by a tunable optoelectronic oscillator incorporating a phase-shifted fiber Bragg grating(PS-FBG). By adjusting the DC bias of the DPMZM, the frequency-doubled microwave signal with a tunable frequency range from 11 GHz to 20 GHz and the frequency-quadrupled microwave signal with a tunable frequency range from 22.5 GHz to 26 GHz are generated. The phase noises of the fundamental, frequency-doubled and frequency-quadrupled signals at 10 k Hz offset frequency are-105.9 d Bc/Hz,-103.3 d Bc/Hz and-86.2 d Bc/Hz, respectively.展开更多

Dispersion compensation scheme and specially designed fiber Bragg grating(FBG)-based Fabry-Perot(F-P) filters are employed in the OEO loop to realize a frequency tunable range of 3.5-45.4 GHz. An optimization process provided by the combination of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier(EDFA)and FBG is employed to improve the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) of final RF signals. The generation of linearfrequency and phase-coded microwave waveforms, with a tunable carrier frequency ranging from 4 to 45 GHz and tuned chirping bandwidths or code rates, is experimentally demonstrated.展开更多
