This technique is based on the unique ability of recovering the phase of the generated CARS signal based on holographic recording. By capturing the phase distributions of the generated CARS field from the sample and from the environment under resonant illumination, we demonstrate the retrieval of imaginary components in the CARS microscope and achieve background free coherent Raman imaging.展开更多

In this paper, a clan member signal method (CMSM) is proposed for use in structures consisting of groups (or clans) that have the same geometry, i.e., the same cross section and length, and identical boundary conditions. It is expected that signals measured on any undamaged member in a clan after an event could be used as a reference for any other members in the clan. To verify the applicability of the proposed method, a steel truss model is tested and the results show that the CMSM is very effective in detecting local damage in structures composed of identical slender members.展开更多

The fitted results indicate that the curve of the peak frequency versus the vibration amplitude follows a linear distribution, and the curve of the difference of the two-peak power values versus the angle follows a Gaussian distribution. A vibration amplitude with an error less than 3.0% and a rotation angle with an error less than 11.7% are calculated from the fitted results.展开更多

Characteristics of vibration coupling between different vibration isolation systems and different elastic bases are analyzed. Moreover the characteristics of vibration acceleration level difference and force transmissibility of different vibration isolation systems are discussed and their simpli- fled expressions are given. In addition the required control forces of active vibration isolation under different installations of actuators for different vibration isolation systems are compared. The results show that for all vibration isolation systems, the addition of the stiffness and damping of the base can enhance their vibration acceleration level difference and force transmissibility. Moreover for floating raft vibration isolation system, the addition of the stiffness and damping of the raft can enhance its vibration isolation performance and reduce the control force required bv active vibration isolation.展开更多

The goal is to determine how the mechanical vibration used in the regenerative ash cleaning process for these filters affects their mechanical integrity during subsequent reuse. Both virgin and vibrated DPF samples were subjected to compressive and 3-point flexural loading at three different loading rates along axial and tangential directions. Statistical analysis was conducted to determine the significance of variation in the compressive and flexural strengths of the DPFs as a result of exposure to mechanical vibration. The results show that there is no statistically significant difference in both compressive and flexural strengths of the virgin DPFs and the DPFs subjected to the same level of mechanical vibration typically used in ash cleaning of DPFs. When the intensity of vibration was doubled, the drop in compressive strength became statistically significant, but less than 10% under axial loading. However, no drop in flexural strength was observed for DPFs subjected to this high intensity of mechanical vibration. The safe threshold for mechanical vibration of ceramic filters is considered to be much higher than that currently used in vibration-based ash cleaning process.展开更多
