In this study, the operation optimization problem of the steel manufacturing process, which needed to go through a complex production organization from customers' orders to workshop production, was analyzed. The existing research on the operation optimization techniques, including process simulation, production planning, production scheduling, interface scheduling, and scheduling of auxiliary equipment, was reviewed. The literature review reveals that, although considerable research has been conducted to optimize the operation of steel production, these techniques are usually independent and unsystematic.Therefore, the future work related to operation optimization of the steel manufacturing process based on the integration of multi technologies and the intersection of multi disciplines were summarized.展开更多

Such technologies are expected to meet the need of many manufacturing industries...Recently, with the rapid growth of information technology, many studies have been performed to implement Web-based manufacturing system. Such technologies are expected to meet the need of many manufacturing industries who want to adopt E-manufacturing system for the construction of globalization, agility, and digitalization to cope with the rapid changing market requirements. In this research, a real-time Web-based machine tool and machining process monitoring system is developed as the first step for implementing E-manufacturing system. In this system, the current variations of the main spindle and feeding motors are measured using hall sensors. And the relationship between the cutting force and the spindle motor RMS (Root Mean Square) current at various spindle rotational speeds is obtained. Thermocouples are used to measure temperature variations of important heat sources of a machine tool. Also, a rule-based expert system is applied in order to decide the machining process and machine tool are in normal conditions. Finally, the effectiveness of the developed system is verified through a series of experiments.展开更多
In order to evaluate and estimate the costs of products produced in a complex manufacturing environment properly,an improved activity-based costing(ABC) model is presented.By utilizing the input-output analysis method...In order to evaluate and estimate the costs of products produced in a complex manufacturing environment properly,an improved activity-based costing(ABC) model is presented.By utilizing the input-output analysis method,the complex consumption relationships in a complex manufacturing environment are first expressed.The consumption characteristics(mainly presented by the activity rates) of all production activities are extracted by solving these relationships.Then with the consumption characteristics and operating parameters of these activities,the detailed cost consumption of a product in its manufacturing process is estimated.A case study is finally given based on the compressor products of a manufacturing company,and its effectiveness is shown.As the cost influence of complex consumption relationships is fully considered,the limitation of traditional ABC method is overcome,and therefore a high accuracy in product cost estimation under the complex manufacturing environment can be achieved.展开更多

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the conditions of post-optimality for stochastic order rate governed production systems in order to observe OTD. Instead of a heuristic or a simulative exploration, a Cartesian-based approach is applied to developing the necessary and sufficient mathematical condition to solve the problem statement.
