An Explanation of the Temperature-Dependent Upper Critical Field Data of H3S on the Basis of the Thermodynamics of a Superconductor in a Magnetic Field

Excellent fits to a couple of the data-sets on the temperature (T)-dependent upper critical field (Hc2) of H3S (critical temperature, Tc ≈ 200 K at pressure ≈ 150 GPa) reported by Mozaffari, et al. (2019) were obtained by Talantsev (2019) in an approach based on an ingenious mix of the Ginzberg-Landau (GL), the Werthamer, Helfand and Hohenberg (WHH), and the Gor’kov, etc., theories which have individually been employed for the same purpose for a long time. Up to the lowest temperature (TL) in each of these data-sets, similarly accurate fits have also been obtained by Malik and Varma (2023) in a radically different approach based on the Bethe-Salpeter equation (BSE) supplemented by the Matsubara and the Landau quantization prescriptions. For T TL, however, while the (GL, WHH, etc.)-based approach leads to Hc2(0) ≈ 100 T, the BSE-based approach leads to about twice this value even at 1 K. In this paper, a fit to one of the said data-sets is obtained for the first time via a thermodynamic approach which, up to TL, is as good as those obtained via the earlier approaches. While this is interesting per se, another significant result of this paper is that for T TL it corroborates the result of the BSE-based approach. 展开更多

This study proposes a novel approach to study stress field distribution and overlying ground pressure behavior in shallow seam mining in gully terrain.This approach combines numerical simulations and field tests based on the conditions of gully terrain in the Chuancao Gedan Mine.The effects of gully terrain on the in situ stress field of coal beds can be identified by the ratio of self-weight stress to vertical stress(η) at the location corresponding to the maximum vertical stress.Based on the function η =j(h),the effect of gully terrain on the stress field of overlying strata of the entire field can be characterized as a significantly affected area,moderately affected area,or non-affected area.Working face 6106 in the Chuancao Gedan Mine had a coal bed Jepth <80 m and was located in what was identified as a significantly affected area.Hence,mining may cause sliding of the gully slope and increased loading(including significant dynamic loading) on the roof strata.Field tests suggest that significant dynamic pressures were observed at the body and foot of the gully slope,and that dynamic loadings were observed upslope of the working face expansion,provided that the expanding direction of the working face is parallel to the gully. 展开更多

The problem of the unmanned surface vessel (USV) path planning in static and dynamic obstacle environments is addressed in this paper. Multi-behavior fusion based potential field method is proposed, which contains three behaviors: goal-seeking, boundary-memory following and dynamic-obstacle avoidance. Then, different activation conditions are designed to determine the current behavior. Meanwhile, information on the positions, velocities and the equation of motion for obstacles are detected and calculated by sensor data. Besides, memory information is introduced into the boundary following behavior to enhance cognition capability for the obstacles, and avoid local minima problem caused by the potential field method. Finally, the results of theoretical analysis and simulation show that the collision-free path can be generated for USV within different obstacle environments, and further validated the performance and effectiveness of the presented strategy. 展开更多

Non-metallic particles, especially alumina, are the main inclusions in aluminum and its alloys. Numerical simulation and the corresponding experiments were carried out to study the motion behavior of alumina particles in commercial pure aluminum under high frequency magnetic field. At the meantime, multi-pipe experiment was also done to discuss the prospect of continuous elimination of non-metallic particles under high frequency magnetic field. It is shown that: 1) results of numerical simulation are in good agreement with the experimental results, which certificates the rationality of the simulation model; 2) when the intensity of high frequency magnetic field is 0.06 T, the 30 μm alumina particles in melt inner could migrate to the edge and be removed within 2 s; 3) multi-pipe elimination of alumina particles under high frequency magnetic field is also effective and has a good prospect in industrial application. 展开更多

The precipitating kinetics of Ni75Al17Zn8 alloy was studied at both 873K and 973K by microscopic phase-field model.The calculation results show that the order-disorder transformation experiences the matrix→lowly-ordered L10 phase→L12 phase at 973 K.And the nucleation of L12 particles belongs to the spinodal decomposition mechanism.As temperature increases,orderings of Al and Zn atoms are resisted,but coarsening of L12 particles is promoted.The value of coarsening kinetic exponents approaches to 1/2.In addition,the discussions about Ni-Al anti-site defect and Zn substitutions for Ni site and Al site exhibit that the higher the temperature,the more distinctive the Ni-Al anti-site defect,but the less the Zn substitution. 展开更多

The corrosion behavior and microstructure of Fe78Si9B13 glassy alloy in NaOH and NaCl solutions under a 0.02-T magnetic field were investigated through electrochemical testing and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The current-density prepeak (PP) in the anodic polarization curves in low-concentration NaOH solutions (classified as type I) tends to disappear when the NaOH concentration is increased to 0.4 mol/L and the magnetic field is applied. Under the magnetic field, the height of the second current-density peak is increased in low-concentration NaOH solutions (type I) but decreased in high-concentration NaOH solutions (type Ⅱ). The non-monotonic effect of the magnetic field was similarly observed in the case of polarization curves of samples measured in NaCl solutions, Ring-like corroded patterns and round pits are easily formed under the magnetic field in NaOH and NaC1 solutions. These experimental results were discussed in terms of the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) effect. 展开更多

A simple and efficient coupled displacement field method is developed to study the large amplitude free vibration behavior of the moderately thick square plates.A single term trigonometric admissible displacement field is assumed for one of the variables,say,the total rotations(in both X,Y directions).Making use of the coupling equation,the spatial variation for the lateral displacement field is derived in terms of the total rotations.The coupled displacement field method makes the energy formulation to contain half the number of unknown independent coefficients,in the case of a square plate,contrary to the conventional RayleighRitz method.The lesser number of undetermined coefficients significantly simplifies the vibration problem.The expressions for the linear and nonlinear fundamental frequency parameters for the all edges simply supported moderately thick square plates are derived.The numerical results obtained from the present formulation are in very good agreement with those obtained from the existing literature. 展开更多

The effects of high magnetic field on the crystallization behavior of the Fe78Si13B9 metallic glass ribbon were studied. The samples were isothermal annealed for 30 min under high magnetic field and no field,respectively. Microstructure transformation during crystallization was identified by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. It was found that the crystallizations of Fe78Si13B9 metallic glass processed under different conditions were that the precipitation of dendrite α-Fe(Si) and spherulite (Fe,Si)3B phases forms amorphous matrix and then the metastable (Fe,Si)3B phase transforms into the stable Fe2B phase. The grain size of the crystals is smaller and more homogeneous for the isothermal annealed samples under high magnetic field in comparison with that under no field indicating that the crystallization behavior of Fe78Si13B9 metallic glass is suppressed by high magnetic field. 展开更多

Based on the time series of GPS station coordinate in the international Earth reference frame (ITRF), we evaluate annual micro-behavior of strain field in Chinese mainland with the triangle method. The results show that the annual micro-behavior of strain field is divided into two parts by the north-south earthquake belt in the research region. The prevailing direction of compressive principal strain field is nearly consistent in the western region. From west to east, the direction varies from NS to NE. It is in accordance with the direction of the modem compressive principal strain field. This suggests that geologic deformation in western region was mainly caused by that India tectonic plate pushes the research region northward and the Siberia plate pushes it southward relatively. It is an inheritance of new tectonic motion. The prevailing direction of the compressive principal strain field does not exist in the eastern region .The annual biggest shear strain is different greatly in every grid-cell. The values varies from 4.13×10^-8 to 7.0×10^-10. By and large the annual biggest shear strain in the western region is bigger than that in the eastern region. And so is the variation between any two consecutive biggest annual shear strains in the same grid-cell. The annual surface dilatation show that in most grid-cells of the research region the surface dilatation is in compressibility, and the variation between any two consecutive annual surface dilatation in the same grid-cell is small. 展开更多

To understand the solidification behavior of austenitic stainless steel in pulsed magnetic field, the solidification process is investigated by means of the self-made high voltage pulse power source and the solidification tester. The results show that the solidification structure of austenitic stainless steel can be remarkably refined in pulsed magnetic field, yet the grains become coarse again when the magnetic intensity is exceedingly large, indicating that an optimal intensity range existed for structure refinement. The solidification temperature can be enhanced with an increase in the magnetic intensity. The solidification time is shortened obviously, but the shortening degree is reduced with the increase of the magnetic intensity. 展开更多

The electrochemical property, chemical composition and crystal structure of electroless Co-Ni-B-Ce alloy plated in general state as well as in magnetic field were studied using potentiometer, plasma emission spectrometer, X-ray diffractometer, transmission electron microscope. The results show that the static potential and polarizability of electroless Co-Ni-B alloy are remarkably improved as the plating is carried out in magnetic field in the presence of a little amount of cerium in plating bath. Because of the action of magnetic field and rare earth element cerium, the boron content in alloy decreases, while cobalt and nickel contents increase. As a result, the amorphous Co-Ni-B alloy transforms to the microcrystalline Co-Ni-B-Ce alloy when the plating is in general state, and the Co-Ni-B alloy makes a crystalline transformation because of the action of magnetic field and rare earth element cerium. 展开更多

The effect of random crystal field, ferromagnetic and ferrimagnetic exchange interaction on hysteresis loops and compensation phenomenon are discussed. A number of characteristic phenomena have been reported such as the observation of triple hysteresis loops at low temperatures and for negative values of random crystal field. Average completion times in an eight-arm radial maze were longer in the exposed rats than control rats after 4-5 weeks of exposure. Error rates in the exposed rats were greater than the control rats at 6 weeks. Hippocampal neurons from the exposed rats showed irregular firing patterns during the experiment, and they exhibited decreased spiking activity 6-9 weeks compared with that after 2 5 weeks of exposure. These results indicate that 916 MHz electromagnetic fields influence leaming and memory in rats during exposure, but long-term effects are not obvious. 展开更多

为研究行人折返行为对疏散的影响,考虑多出口对行人的吸引力、人员相互作用力、火源蔓延威胁以及折返场吸引力的共同影响,在元胞自动机模型的基础上提出基于静态场、动态场、火源场以及折返场共同作用的行人疏散场域模型,研究不同折返... 为研究行人折返行为对疏散的影响,考虑多出口对行人的吸引力、人员相互作用力、火源蔓延威胁以及折返场吸引力的共同影响,在元胞自动机模型的基础上提出基于静态场、动态场、火源场以及折返场共同作用的行人疏散场域模型,研究不同折返比例、折返区域、人员密度、出口数量和位置情况下折返行为对疏散进程的影响。研究结果表明:少量折返行为对总疏散时间影响较小,而群体性折返行为的存在会增加总体疏散时间,随着折返比例的增加,疏散时间随之增加。折返区域离出口越近,对总体疏散效率的影响越小。折返行为对疏散进程的影响效果,随着人员密度的增加不断增强。在双出口条件下,对侧设置出口位置能有效减少折返行为对疏散进程的负面影响。研究结果可为提高紧急情况下的疏散效率提供参考。 展开更多
