This paper discusses the vertical ozone distribution over Tibet using SAGE I and SAGE II data. The annual and seasonal vertical ozone profiles in 10.5-50.5 km a.s.l. over Tibet are analyzed to understand the vertical structure of low ozone value in this region. Regarding to the local ozone deficit, these profiles are compared with the vertical ozone distribution in the non-mountain areas at the same latitudes. The summer low ozone and the May maximum ozone deficit are detected from the SAGE data. The largest ozone deficit in May is found in 15.5-20.5 km a.s.l. centered at 16.5 km over this region. This ozone deficit can be related to the upward mass transfer described by potential temperature variation over Tibet. 展开更多

The aim of this research was to evaluate the dietary supplementation 1% (w/w) of oregano and sage dried leaves on performances and meat quality of broiler rabbits. A feeding trial, which lasted 48 d, was carried out on 105 male Bianca Italiana rabbits randomly divided in seven groups and fed ad libitum. At the end of the trial ten animals per group were slaughtered and samples of dorsal muscle were taken in order to perform laboratory analysis. Mortality rate did not statistically differ between groups. Growth performances of animals fed diets supplemented with aromatic plants were higher (P〈0.05) than those of animals of control group, whereas carcass parameters were not affected by treatments excepting for the slaughter weight that showed the same trend as growth performances. Meat quality traits, oxidative lipid stability and fatty acid proifle were not inlfuenced by aromatic plant supplementation. In conclusion, oregano and sage in form of dried leaves can be used in rabbit without adverse effects on performance, carcass characteristics and meat quality traits. 展开更多

The direction of arrival(DOA) estimation problem in the presence of sensor location errors is studied and an algorithm based on space alternating generalized expectation-maximization(SAGE) is presented. First, the narrowband case is considered.Based on the small perturbation assumption, this paper proposes an augmentation scheme so as to estimate DOA and perturbation parameters. The E-step and M-step of the SAGE algorithm in this case are derived. Then, the algorithm is extended to the wideband case. The wideband SAGE algorithm is derived in frequency domain by jointing all frequency bins. Simulation results show that the algorithm achieves good convergence and high parameter estimation precision. 展开更多

The wealth of DNA data generated by the human genome project coupling with recently invented high-throughput gene expression profiling techniques has dramatically sped up the process for biomedical researchers on elucidating the role of genes in human diseases. One powerful method to reveal insight into gene functions is the systematic analysis of gene expression. Two popular high-throughput gene expression technologies, microarray and Serial Analysis of Gene Expression (SAGE) are capable of producing large amounts of gene expression data with the potential of providing novel insights into fundamental disease processes, especially complex syndromes such as cardiovascular disease, whose etiologies are due to multiple genetic factors and their interplay with the environment. Microarray and SAGE have already been used to examine gene expression patterns of cell-culture, animal and human tissues models of cardiovascular diseases. In this review, we will first give a brief introduction of microarray and SAGE technologies and point out their limitations. We will then discuss the major discoveries and the new biological insightsthat have emerged from their applications to cardiovascular diseases. Finally we will touch upon potential challenges and future developments in this area. 展开更多

A new channel estimation and data detection joint algorithm is proposed for multi-input multi-output (MIMO) - orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) system using linear minimum mean square error (LMMSE)- based space-alternating generalized expectation-maximization (SAGE) algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, every sub-frame of the MIMO-OFDM system is divided into some OFDM sub-blocks and the LMMSE-based SAGE algorithm in each sub-block is used. At the head of each sub-flame, we insert training symbols which are used in the initial estimation at the beginning. Channel estimation of the previous sub-block is applied to the initial estimation in the current sub-block by the maximum-likelihood (ML) detection to update channel estimatjon and data detection by iteration until converge. Then all the sub-blocks can be finished in turn. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can improve the bit error rate (BER) performance. 展开更多

Towards a combined SAGE Ⅱ and SCIAMACHY aerosol dataset and implications for stratospheric aerosol trend analysis over East Asia

Scanning Imaging Absorption Spectrometer for Atmospheric Cartography(SCIAMACHY) limb observation data are used to retrieve stratospheric aerosol extinction profiles. The retrieved aerosol profiles are compared with Stratospheric Aerosol and Gas Experiment(SAGE) Ⅱ aerosol data records. The comparisons are made over the period 2003–2004. The results show that the SCIAMACHY aerosol profile retrievals exhibit general agreement with the coincident SAGE Ⅱ data records. In the 15–35 km altitude range, the percentage differences between the SCIAMACHY-retrieved and SAGE Ⅱ–measured zonal mean aerosol extinction profiles are less than 20% for the 20–30°N and 30–40°N latitude zones, and less than 25% for the 40–50°N zone. The stratospheric aerosol optical depths in this altitude range calculated from SCIAMACHY retrievals are in good agreement with SAGE Ⅱ measurements, with present differences less than 6% for the three latitude zones. The aerosol retrievals from SCIAMACHY observations are combined with the SAGE Ⅱ aerosol data records, form a long-term data-set for the period 2000–2010. Using the combined SAGE Ⅱ and SCIAMACHY dataset, the variation trends of the stratospheric aerosol layer over East Asia(20–50°N, 70–150°E) are analyzed. The results indicate that the stratospheric aerosols have a significant trend of increase over East Asia during 2000–2010. The stratospheric aerosol optical depths increase by about 5% per year over the 11-yr period. The increase in stratospheric aerosols is found to be obviously related to moderate volcanic eruptions. 展开更多

The Salvia genus encompasses up to 900 species, but only a few of them have been investigated. Hence, the objective was to investigate the essential oil content as well as the terpene composition of a number of Saliva species. In this context, S. officinalis var. Extrakta, S. officinalis "Aurea" and S. patens were investigated for the first time. To some extent, it was also possible to associate the terpene distribution of the investigated commercial sage teas and drops with the processed sage oil. Furthermore, an ultrasonic extraction with ethyl acetate seems to be an efficient quick-method for extracting the essential oil. 展开更多

After 4K, 8K UHD resolution can be considered the new challenge for film, visualization and television. Due to the dimension of 8K image, the remote micro and macro images are considered appropriate for visualization with scientific and educational purposes. This article describes the implementation of the 8K video plug-in to play UHD videos into the SAGE, a collaborative environment for the advancement of scientific research and education developed by EVL (Electronic Visualization Laboratory), upgrading its current resolution for video playing. It also presents the challenges of producing 8K content, the development of the code and introduces the features to view 8K ultra high definition videos in multiple tiles through the use of low cost computer clusters. The SAGE 8K video plug-in implementation was made possible because of the previous development of the Fogo Player, a system to run 4K and 8K content. The results were successfully presented at the CineGrid International Workshop 2013 in San Diego. 展开更多

Inhibitory Effect of Alcoholic Extract of Sage Leaves on the Growth of Pathogenic Fungi Causing External Ear and Skin Infections

Fifteen pathogenic fungi were isolated from patients with external ear infection like Aspergillus niger and 100 pathogenic fungi were isolated from patients with skin infections like Trichophyton mentagrophytes which was isolated from body skin infections (also four different species of the genus Trichophyton was isolated) as well as another fungus which is Microsporum audouinii was isolated from the head scalp, and Aspergillus ustus which was isolated as normal flora from infected skin inflammation These fungi are opportunistic that can cause skin infections and inflammation of the external ear which increases the severity and the length of the disease, so the effect of different concentrations of alcoholic extract of sage leaves was tested against these fungi and it was found that the extract had an inhibition effect on growth of the fungus A. ustus by 80.7% at a concentration of 20 mg/mL, while inhibited the fungus A. niger by 77.3% at the same concentration, whereas inhibited the fungus T. mentagrophyte by 53.3% at the same concentration, and the fungus Microsporum audouinii was inhibited at the same concentration by 86.6%, also the extract showed different inhibition values against the other four species of the fungus Trichophyton. The plant sage is considered as good antifungal towards studied fungi of otitis extema and skin diseases and can be used prospectively as antifungal antibiotics against fungi causing external ear infections and skin infections. 展开更多

GNSS/SINS组合导航系统的无迹卡尔曼滤波器(UKF)是以准确的测量噪声统计特性为基础的,当测量噪声统计特性发生变化时,如不对其进行准确的估计,将会导致UKF的滤波性能下降甚至发散。为了解决上述问题,提出了一种基于改进Sage-Husa的GNSS/SINS组合导航系统自适应UKF算法(ISHUKF)。首先,建立了GNSS/SINS非线性组合导航系统的简化UKF模型;然后,在分析组合导航系统中常规Sage-Husa算法存在滤波发散原因的基础上,提出了一种改进的Sage-Husa算法以保证测量噪声估计方差的正定性;最后,进行了GNSS/SINS组合导航系统的仿真实验。实验结果表明,相对于变分贝叶斯算法,ISHUKF对测量噪声方差的估计精度与其大致相同,并且算法更加简单;相对于标准UKF算法,在整个仿真时段内可提高组合导航系统的位置精度、速度精度和姿态精度分别约33%、35%和72%,进而验证了算法的可行性及优越性,并为复杂环境下组合导航系统的滤波方法提供了一种简易的方法。 展开更多

针对在组合导航系统中应用Sage-Husa自适应滤波算法存在的滤波精度低和可靠性差等问题,提出一种改进的Sage-Husa自适应滤波算法。首先在Sage-Husa自适应滤波算法基础上,通过指数渐渐消记忆加权估计方法来估计噪声统计特性,提高算法的自... 针对在组合导航系统中应用Sage-Husa自适应滤波算法存在的滤波精度低和可靠性差等问题,提出一种改进的Sage-Husa自适应滤波算法。首先在Sage-Husa自适应滤波算法基础上,通过指数渐渐消记忆加权估计方法来估计噪声统计特性,提高算法的自适应能力,后结合强跟踪滤波引入渐消因子在线修正预测均方误差矩阵,使改进后的算法具有应对系统误差干扰等不确定因素的能力。仿真结果表明,改进后Sage-Husa算法具有更高的自适应能力以及在出现模型误差和粗差干扰时能够有效抑制滤波发散,保持良好的滤波性能,应用在组合导航系统中具有更强的稳定性和定位精度。 展开更多
