Nanowires, nanofibers and nanotubes have been widely used as the building blocks in micro/nano-electromechanical systems, energy harvesting or storage devices, and small-scaled measurement equipment. We report that the sur- face effects of these nanobeams have a great impact on their deflection and internal forces. A simply supported nanobeam is taken as an example. For the displacement and shear force of the nanobeam, its dangerous sections are different from those predicted by the conventional beam theory, but for the bending moment, the dangerous section is the same. Moreover, the values of these three quantities for the nanobeam are all distinct from those calculated from the conventional beam model. These analyses shed new light on the stiffness and strength check of nanobeams, which are beneficial to engineer new-types of nano-materials and nano-devices. 展开更多

Donghua steel continuous casting-rolling(DSCCR)production line is an endless rolling production line independently integrated and developed by a Chinese enterprise.To solve the problem of out-of-control shape caused by insufficient adjustment ability of work roll bending force of DSCCR finishing mills,the backup roll contours of the finishing mill were optimized considering multi-objectives,and varying contact length backup roll(VCR)contours matching the concave work rolls were designed based on the rapid rolls-strip deformation calculation model,which integrated the elastic deformation of the rolls and the fast plastic deformation of the rolled strip.The simulation results showed that VCR configuration can significantly enhance the control efficiency of the work roll bending force and increase the transverse stiffness of rolling mill compared with the conventional roll configuration.In addition,VCR backup roll can improve the contact state between backup roll and work roll.The industrial production showed that the bending force setup value was more reasonable and the strip crown control accuracy was improved. 展开更多

Rolling schedule not only determines the rolling process to be going smoothly, but also affects the shape accuracy and structure properties of finished strip. In order to gain good strip crown and flatness, the calculation formulas of the most suitable rolling force and bending force are deduced. By taking relatively equal load of rolling power and good shape as objective functions, the optimization mathematical models of finish rolling schedule are established. By contrast, the rolling schedules after optimization can improve the rolling mill working status and ensure the strip crown and flatness to be good. At the same time, the setting value of bending force is improved and this leaves more space for on-line shape control. 展开更多
