Living organisms are high ordered and organized systems accumulating and successively using low entropy energy to support all the processes needed for life. This low level of entropy is a required condition in order to make possible the use of endogenous energy for producing, for example, mechanical work. The commonly accepted picture of condensed matter physics, exclusively considering the perturbative coupling between QED Zero-Point-Field also known as “Quantum Vacuum” and the matter system, is unable to thoroughly explain the true origin of this low entropy energy reservoir and its dynamics. Recent researches instead suggested that energy and mass of every particle or body could be actually considered as arising from Quantum Vacuum dynamics which, in turn, can exhibit, under suitable conditions always occurring in the case of living systems, a coherent behavior characterized by a strong phase correlation between matter and an electromagnetic field trapped inside this ensemble. In this paper the preliminary model of Quantum Vacuum already proposed by author is reformulated in terms of QED coherence in condensed matter showing it is able to explain the origin of internal energy stock of living organisms. Within this theoretical framework, an interpretation of some important experimental results about biophotons emission by living systems under the influence of external stimuli is also proposed, suggesting their origin could also arise from Quantum Vacuum dynamics. This model, as shown, opens very interesting and exciting scenarios of further developments in the understanding of the birth and dynamics of life. 展开更多

Relation between emission of biophotons and the “space-time” of the universe has been conceptualized and the concerned calculation is verified with the experimental results. The theoretical result derived is at par with the experimental results on biophotons. Some concepts like “Film Theory of the Universe”, K-Suryon, “Super Theory of Relativity” and “Siva’s constant ‘K’’’ have been utilized in the calculations. These calculations emphasized that the experimental results on biophotons are an effect of cosmic interactions. It is a new dimension of research on biophotons and may lead to new path for experimental verification in the areas of consciousness and neurosciences. 展开更多

The discovery of dark noise in retinal photoreceptors resulted in a long-lasting controversy over its origin and the underlying mechanisms. Here,we used a novel ultra-weak biophoton imaging system(UBIS) to detect biophotonic activity(emission) under dark conditions in rat and bullfrog(Rana catesbeiana) retinas in vitro. We found a significant temperature-dependent increase in biophotonic activity that was completely blocked either by removing intracellular and extracellular Ca^(2+)together or inhibiting phosphodiesterase 6.These findings suggest that the photon-like component of discrete dark noise may not be caused by a direct contribution of the thermal activation of rhodopsin, but rather by an indirect thermal induction of biophotonic activity, which then activates the retinal chromophore of rhodopsin. Therefore, this study suggests a possible solution regarding the thermal activation energy barrier for discrete dark noise, which has been debated for almost half a century. 展开更多

Terahertz(THz)technology offers novel opportunities in biology and medicine, thanks to the unique features of THzwave interactions with tissues and cells.Among them,we particularly notice strong sensitivity of THz waves to the tissue water,as a medium for biochemical reactions and a main endogenous marker for THz spectroscopy and imaging.Tissues of the brain have an exceptionally high content of water. This factor, along with the features of the structural organization and biochemistry of neuronal and glial tissues, makes the brain an exciting subject to study in the THz range. In this paper, progress and prospects of THz technology in neurodiagnostics are overviewed, including diagnosis of neurodegenerative disease, myelin deficit, tumors of the central nervous system(with an emphasis on brain gliomas),and traumatic brain injuries.Fundamental and applied challenges in study of the THz-wave–brain tissue interactions and development of the THz biomedical tools and systems for neurodiagnostics are discussed. 展开更多

The emission of the ultra-weak photon or “biophotons” is a phenomenon resulting from the spontaneous emission of electromagnetic frequencies in the range of 240 - 650 nm [nanometers] absorbed by all living beings, including man. It is measurable in the UV region with a highly sensitive electromagnetic device. This is a case study of a 60-year-old patient with pathological biophoton emission. I assume it is the first study reported in the literature. And the most surprising, occurred in the author himself. Therefore, I am the author and the patient reported in this study. Seven years ago, I was surprised by a large emission of “biophotons” starting in some places on the body and spreading throughout the body over a period of three months, which continues to this day. I follow up from the beginning, with periodic clinical and laboratory examinations without the need for hospitalization and consequent opening of medical records. Currently, biophoton emission is already well- controlled, perhaps with an emission around 5%, although with different characteristics from the initial clinical picture, so I am already writing part-2 of this study. It appeared spontaneously and without the interference of any external factor. It follows an intelligent and intentional pattern. On the one hand, this study showed negative effects such as an increase in glucose, triglycerides and cholesterol;left leg sciatic nerve involvement and right saphenous vein injury. On the other hand, it also showed unusual effects, such as a significant increase in serum testosterone levels, delayed aging and increased libido. I would say an excessive increase in libido. In this article, we will address the Pathophysiology of biophotons and some aspects that are not in accordance with literature data through direct observation. This article describes the physiology and some aspects of biophoton pathology. We will also address a possible role of Consciousness in the emission of biophotons. Then we will present some hypotheses, speculations and research suggestions and perspectives for the future. Finally, we will address “intriguing phenomena” of a strange syndrome using the direct observation method. For convenience, we’re going to use the term “energy” a lot, which seems pretty familiar to me. 展开更多

We measure ultra-weak photon signals emitted from the hand of a human subject, either spontaneously or gradually decaying after local stress has been induced with five concentrations of H2O2. We analyze the photon distributions of both spontaneous and stimulated number of photons per measuring interval (bin sizes) according to statistics measure Fano Factor which leads to quantum optics, g(2)(0). We also fit either semi-classical based exponential or quantum grounded hyperbolic curves to the decays. Both indicators point towards an adequate description of the photon signal in an interpretation that is quantum. We extend the interpretation towards the suggestion of a quantum coherent aspect of the subject which, once placed in a therapeutic perspective, links to the holistic views on health. 展开更多

Photon counts about 15 cm from the left and right sides of the head while subjects sat quietly during baseline conditions within a hyper-dark chamber were measured by photomultiplier units. Lag/lead analyses for photon emissions between the two hemispheres indicated a weak but statistically significant correlation between the amplitude fluctuations that were separated by about 800 to 900 ms. Analyses of the spectral power densities of photon amplitude variations from the left and right hemispheres revealed peak values between 2 and 3 Hz which were equivalent to a difference of about 900 ms. The radiant flux densities were estimated to be in the order of 10?12 W?m?2 and to include the equivalence of about 107 neurons. Our calculations, which accounted for the small magnitude of the strength of the interhemispheric coefficients, suggest that the coherence could be strongly correlated with processes associated with the unmyelinated axons with diameters between 400 to 800 nm, the visible wavelengths, within the corpus callosum. When the ratio of the phase shift was applied to the Aharanov-Bohm equation, the time required for a photon-related electron to be within a cerebral magnetic field was the same duration as a single orbit of an electron and a photon’s traversal latency across a neuronal plasma membrane. We suggest that the peak photon decoherence between the two cerebral hemispheres may reveal a neuronal-quanta substrate to the conditions associated with consciousness. 展开更多

The observation on biophoton emission, free radical and toxicity of benzene to zebra fish and carp hepatic microsome has demonstrated that there is the corresponding relationship between them by means of 60 Coγ radiolysis. Free radicals play a key role in this relationship. A common photon originates of two biosystems are the excited species including singlet and triplet molecules (1O2 and C=0) as well as hydrocyclohexadienyl radical.OH and so on. OH, to a certain extent, directly participates in photon emission and toxicity of benzene to aquatic biosystems. These are the conclusions, but these are also problems. With the solution of the latters, model established in this work could be expected that it will be favorable for the development of photon-toxicology. 展开更多

Glutamate, the most abundant excitatory neurotransmitter in the nervous system, can induce biophotonic activity and transmission in mouse brain slices. As a signaling molecule, aspartate is not considered to be an independent neurotransmitter during the long evolution process, which may be just a co-transmitter or neuromodulator. In the view of structure and physiological similarities of aspartate and glutamate, as well as some differences between them, we attempted to investigate whether aspartate could also induce biophotonic activity in mouse brain slices and its effect characteristics. The ultraweak biophoton imaging system (UBIS) was used to carry out a real-time observation of biophoton activity induced by aspartate in mouse brain slices. It was found that the biophotonic emissions induced by aspartate at different concentrations (12.5 mM, 25 mM and 50 mM) presented concentration-dependent effects and 50 mM aspartate could obviously induce biophoton activities with the characteristic changes of initiation, maintenance, washing and reapplication, which were also different from that induced by 50 mM glutamate as reported before. Considering the species differences in excitatory neurotransmitters, these findings indicate that aspartate-induced biophotonic activity may imply the evolutionary differences in the animal brains. 展开更多

Biophotonics is an exciting and fast-expanding frontier which involves the fusion of advanced photonics and biology. It has not only created many novel methodologies for biomedical research, but also achieved many significant results as an independentfield. Thanks to femtosecond(fs)laser technologies, important progresses have been made regarding the manipulation, imaging, and engineering of biological samples ranging from single molecules to tissues in the last 20 years. The ultrashort pulses at near-infrared band provide many advantages:high nonlinear efficiency, low absorption by biological samples, high spatial and temporal resolution and confinement, and low phototoxicity. They are noninvasive and easy to control.Although the mechanism of how fs laser pulses interact with cells remains unclear, experimental results have shown that they could open up the cell membrane and hence made optical transfection and optical cell fusion possible. In this review, some of the seminal works on transfection and cell fusion by fs lasers are presented. The ideas behind and the experimental details will be described together with a highlight on their significances.Specifically, the thermal effect is analyzed based on multiphoton excitation and plasma formation in an aqueous environment to explain the nontoxic characteristic of fs laser irradiation.Last, some applications of fs laser induced transfection and cellcell fusion with potential major impact in biomedical sciences are proposed. 展开更多

Background: Measurement of the evoked photon is newly introduced method for measuring life activities those amplify weak light emitted from organisms. We examined the relationship of bioenergy fluctuation state in vivo with conventional physical parameters during twelve hours of daytime arousal using evoked photon measurements. Evaluation of metabolic level, one of the bioenergy state, has demonstrated its effectiveness by evoked photon. Methods: The evoked photon, a weak light emitted from organisms, is a new parameter for measuring life activities, which was recorded using gas discharge visualization (GDV) equipment, and the area and intensity of the energy field index from the GDV image glow were correlated to biorhythmic fluctuations, as corroborated by biochemical measurements of secretory-immunoglobulin A (s-IgA) levels. Result: The area and intensity of the energy field index at the time of awakening were significantly lower (p Conclusions: Thus, the evoked photon reflects the bioenergy of the entire body and can be used as a general indicator of physical health. 展开更多

In this article, emphasis is laid on the manifesting powers of the soul. The powers of the soul manifest as working intelligent force called here as faculties.Eight faculties are defined corresponding to eight types of karma.A schematic model of human system based on Jain principles and scientific findings is presented. The role of DNA and its inadequacies as physical force is discussed. It is stated that genes are only coding devices and the biological intelligence of the soul provides the information for design and structure of the body. The role of biophotons in regulating the biochemistry and biology of life is discussed.Scientific evidence suggests that biophotons originate from the coherent field in DNA.It is argued that the karman body exists as coherent field and the karmanvarganas shedding off the karman body form the biophotons. These biophotons have the information for the reactions to take place in cells. In this model, biophoton provides a link between the karman body and the gross physical body. 展开更多

Biophoton emission is produced by all living systems;this emission pattern has been shown to be altered by the presence of an electromagnetic field (EMF). Cultures of B16-BL6 cells were exposed to a weak EMF produced by a specially constructed EM generator, called the “Resonator”, for one hour. This EM generator incorporates multiple geometric ratios in its design, including the golden ratio (phi), pi, root 2, root 3, and root 5. It has been used previously to purify water of toxins. There was a significant decrease in mean photon counts from B16-BL6 cells exposed at a distance of 1 m compared to those exposed at 0 m. Alterations in the spectral power density variability were also observed in the 8 - 10 Hz range. The EM generator may have an impact on the viability of the exposed cell cultures, but only at specific distances. 展开更多

It is important to look at the behaviour of a living system from the point of view of the biophysical paradigm. In fact, the chemical reactions, which allow us to understand how metabolic processes take place, are short-range and they are activated at a distance of one atomic or molecular diameter. 100,000 reactions/sec. take place in a cell, perfectly balanced in space and time, i.e. these happen at the right time and in the right place. So, it is chemically inexplicable how this can be possible, because it is absolutely necessary that molecules recognize each other at distances greater than a molecular diameter. The biophysical paradigm, through coherent resonance mechanisms, tries to explain how molecules can recognize each other “from afar”. It is a matter of beginning to understand that, probably, the same atoms and molecules are endowed with a kind of “intrinsic intelligence” that guides them in their interactions, and the key to understanding can only be of physical type. We can also hypothesize that a cellular information mechanism based on endogenous electromagnetic fields exists. In this way, DNA could play a role of in-out antenna, due to its double helix shape (resonant LC circuit). This paper speaks about these unexpected, but not too many, connections between Physics and Biology. 展开更多

Background: Although a large number of studies have confirmed that the different levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in cytoplasm and nucleus have effects on cell growth, proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis, the exact mechanism of ROS action is unclear. An important reason is that the production and degradation time of ROS in cells is very short, and therefore it’s difficult to understand the mechanism of action based on the traditional molecular action process through the ROS diffusion and target binding. Methods: The fresh liver tissue slices were prepared and the nuclei of hepatocytes were separated from Kunming mice according to the reported method. Liver tissue slices and hepatocyte nuclei were perfused with extracellular or intracellular fluids containing different concentrations of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), and real-time imaging monitoring of biophotonic emission was carried out using an ultra-weak biophoton imaging system. Results: The results showed that the continuous perfusion with different concentrations of H2O2 (300, 400 and 500 μM, respectively) resulted in significant increase of biophotonic emissions, presenting a concentration-dependent effect in liver tissue slices and achieving the maximum effect at 400 μM, while the significant enhancement was found after 500 μM treatment on the hepatocyte nuclei. Conclusion: This study suggests that ROS generated in cells may achieve its physiological and pathological effects via biophotonic emissions, which provides a new quantum biological mechanism of ROS, while the detailed clarification requires further research. 展开更多

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a common form of chronic inflammatory arthritis, and it mainly causes the destruction of small joints. The development of this disease is a relatively secret and repeated process, and therefore early diagnosis and evaluation of the disease is usually difficult. In this study, an arthritis model was successfully induced by injecting complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA) into the toes of lower limbs of Wistar rats. Seven days after injection of CFA, obvious redness and swelling appeared at the toe joints of lower limbs accompanied by more sensitivity to thermal stimulation. Using the ultraweak bio-photon imaging system (UBIS) established by us, the toe joint area of the lower limbs of rats was imaged 7 days after injection of CFA. It was found that the volar part of lower limbs of arthritis rats showed significantly higher biophoton emissions compared with the control group. The results of this study may provide a basis for further research and devel-opment of early diagnosis and assessment of lesion progression of rheumatoid arthritis. 展开更多

In multiple experiments plates of melanoma cells separated by either 3 m or 1.7 km were placed in the centers of toroids. A specific protocol of changing, angular velocity, pulsed magnetic fields that has been shown to produce excess correlation in photon durations and shift in proton concentrations (pH) in spring water were generated around both plates of cells. Serial injections of 50 μL of standard concentrations of hydrogen peroxide into the “local” plates of cells during the 12 min of field activation produced conspicuous cell death (reduction of viable cells by about 50%) with comparable diminishments of cell numbers in the non-local plates of cells within 24 hr but only if both loci separated by either 3 m or 1.7 km had shared the “excess correlation” magnetic field sequence. The non-local effect did not occur if the magnetic fields had not been present. Higher or lower concentrations of peroxide or concentrations that eliminated all of the cells or very few cells in the local dishes were associated with no significant diminishment of non-local cell growth. The data indicate that there must be a critical number of cells remaining viable following the local chemical reaction for the excess correlation to be manifested in the non-local cells. We suggest that this specific spatial-temporal pattern of fields generated within the paired toroidal geometries promotes transposition of virtual chemical reactions as an information field. Calculations of the energy available per cell and per volume of the quantity of reactants injected into the local space from the intensity of the changing velocity toroidal magnetic field support previous measurements and derivations that the units of information transposition may involve discrete quantities that represent equivalents of photons, electrons and protons. 展开更多

Introduction:Recently, biophotonic activities and transmission have been suggested to play an important role in the realization of higher nervous functions such as vision, learning and memory, cognition and consciousness, which may be involved in the generation of the quantum mind, however, the underlying mechanisms are far from being understood. Methods:By developing ultraweak biophoton imaging system(UBIS),we have studied the biophotonic activities and transmission in the brain in relation to the evolution of intelligence and the origin of consciousness in animals and human beings. Results:We have demonstrated that glutamate-induced biophotonic activities and transmission in the brain present a spectral redshift from animals(in order of bullfrog, mouse, chicken, pig, and monkey)to humans, even up to a near-infrared wavelength(~865 nm)in the human brain. These results suggest that the demonstration of spectral redshift from animals to humans may be a key biophysical basis for explaining high intelligence in humans because biophoton spectral redshift could be a more economical and effective measure of biophotonic signal communications and information processing in the human brain. In addition,we found that glutamate-induced biophotonic activities and transmission in the mouse brain slices are enhanced by acetylcholine(ACh),dopamine(DA),norepinephrine(NE)andγ-aminobutyric acid(GABA),but inhibited sustainably by 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT).Such synergistic effects of ACh,DA and NE were prevented by 5-HT and a general anesthetic and sedative(propofol),the latter being well known to lead to rapid alteration in states of consciousness. Therefore,we propose that the glutamate-induced tonic biophotonic activity and transmission in different neural circuits in the brain form the basic biophotonic information streams, which represent the quantum state of sub-consciousness or pre-consciousness,called as“Photon quantum mind”.The positive and negative regulation of glutamate action by other neurotransmitters may lead to altered states of consciousness, and consequently, quantum computation and information transmission and storage could be realized through biophotonic quantum coherence, entanglement, and superposition based on the interactions of the intrinsic and extrinsic biophotonic information fl ows. Conclusion:These results suggest that the neurotransmitter-mediated biophotonic activities and transmission including their mutual effects may be a new mechanism for the processing of neural information, and provide new ideas for explaining the higher brain functions such as intelligence and consciousness in animals and human beings, understanding the pathological mechanisms underlying mental disorders, designing new anesthetics, and developing new drugs for neuropsychiatric disorders. 展开更多
