The strong polarization dependence of the bianisotropic-circular-current-driven and linear-polarization-induced resonances is in excellent agreement with the simulation when the p-polarized terahertz transmission is measured. How- ever, these electromagnetic responses vanish when the s-polarized terahertz transmission is measured. There is only a transmission minimum at 1.64 THz and the terahertz polarization rotation angle of about 90° is observed. The polarized terahertz transmission amplitudes and spectra detected at orthogonal orientations show that these behaviours are probably attributed to the birefringent effect of the sample.展开更多

The comparisons of the birefringent walk-off effect and the oscillation threshold between ZGP and CdSe OPOs are performed theoretically and experimentally. For the ZGP OPO, up to 419 mW output at 8.04 μm is obtained at the 8 kHz pump pulse repetition frequency (PRF) with a slope efficiency of 7.6%. This ZGP OPO can be continuously tuned from 7.8 to 8.5 μm. For the CdSe OPO, we demonstrate a 64 mW output at 8.9μm with a single crystal 28 mm in length.展开更多

Considering the cases of the Faraday effect without and with line birefringence, the magneto-optical effect and output characteristics of an infinitesimal magneto-optical sensor were simulated and studied. The results verified the effectiveness of the infinitesimal sensor model. Because the magnetic field, stress, and temperature changes alter the dielectric properties of magneto-optical materials, the finite-element accumulation method lays a good foundation for research on theoretical analysis and performance of magneto-optical sensors affected by factors such as the magnetic field, temperature, and stress.展开更多

This paper reports an analysis of MIs in the general elliptically birefringent fibers with the emphasis on investigating the effects of ellipticity angle(0? ≤θ≤ 90?). Both symmetric and antisymmetric CW states are considered. In the anomalous dispersion regime, for the symmetric(antisymmetric) CW states, we show that MI gain increases dramatically(reduces first and then enhances greatly) as the increment of θ. In the normal dispersion regime, for the both CW states, the distinctive feature is that the gain of the MI bands reduces first, vanishes at θ = 45?,reappears across this ellipticity angle, and quickly increases after then.展开更多
