[Method] The high fat and cholesterol diet were adopted to create the hyperlipemia model of rabbit. The rabbits were randomly and equally divided into 5 groups which were NC( normal control)group, HLM (high lipid model) group, LFPE, MFPE and HFPE group (low, middle, high dosage of FPE were 0.17 g/kg, 0.5 g/kg and 1.5 g/kg respectively). The contents of TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C, MDA and the activity of SOD in serum were detected respectively. [ Result] The three FPE groups could decrease the contents of TC, TG, LDL-C, MDA significantly (P〈0.01) compared with these of HLM group, and the contents of HDL-C (P〈0.01) and the activity of SOD (P〈0.05 ) in serum was increased significantly. [Conclusion] FPE could regulate blood-fat and counteract lipid peroxidation.展开更多

Methods A prescription of diet plus exercise was given to the patients in a control group, and catgut embedding was added to the prescription in a treatment group. It was given once every 15 days for the 1st three treatments, and once every month for the 2^nd three treatments. Six treatments constituted a therapeutic course. Body weight and blood fat were measured before and half a year since treatment. Results After treatment, BMI, TO, TG and LDL were very significantly improved in the treatment group (P〈0.01), and BMI and TG were very significantly (P〈0.01) and TO and LDL were significantly (P〈0.05) improved in the control group. HDL was not obviously improved in both groups (P〉0.05). The improvement of TO, TG and LDL in the treatment group was significantly more than that in the control group (P〈0.01), but no difference in improvement of BMI and HDL was found between the two groups (P〉0.05). Conclusion The therapy of diet plus exercise was effective in body weight reduction and lowering blood fat in patients with simple obesity complicated with abnormal blood fat, and catgut embedding used in combination was even better in lowering blood fat.展开更多

The experiment shows that the absorption spectra of blood are of serious noise in the wave band of 200 to 300 nm, which hides the useful spectral characteristics. The effective separation of the noise was achieved by db4 wavelet transform, and the signals of reconstruction have been obviously improved in the noise serious wave band, reflecting some useful information. The absorption peaks of different samples are displaced to some degrees. The correlation between absorbance at 278nm and blood fat concentration is no significant and random. Based on the evident correlation between serum absorption spectrum and blood fat con-centration in the wave band of 265 to 282nm, a neural network model was built to forecast the blood fat concentration, bringing a relatively good prediction. This provides a new spectral test method of blood fat concentration.展开更多

Sprague- Dawley rats were fed a diet containing the oils or trans-fat, and then body weights, blood lipids, and effects on brain infarction and physical dysfunction induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) were analyzed. All the oils and trans-fat, except perilla oil, significantly increased body fats and body weight gain. Sesame oil and trans-fat specifically increased blood cholesterols and triglycerides, respectively, while perilla oil decreased both cholesterols and triglycerides. Perilla oil not only attenuated cerebral infarction, but also restored locomotor activity and rota-rod performances of MCAO rats. It is suggested that perilla oil among oils and fats could be the first choice to reduce the risk of metabolic syndrome and ischemic stroke.展开更多

The microcontroller is monitored and governed using a software IDE interface installed on a powerful laptop. Saline solution is being pumped through a medical syringe at variable speeds up to a maximum of 18.39 cm/second to the vein. The novel technique in this research is the usage of two pumps called Pump 1 and Pump 2. Pump 1 is used to physically model the flow of “blood” in human vein and the second pump (Pump 2) is used to generate the accelerated saline particles that are used to break the yellow grease that is placed on the inside of the vein’s wall. A tiny brush is briefly dipped into yellow grease, and then it is used to place one layer (one turn) of yellow grease on the inside of the vein’s wall, and then this procedure is repeated to place consecutive layers of yellow grease onto the inside of the wall of the vein vessel using a tiny brush. It was found that accelerated saline particles can in fact destroy fats that are built up inside the veins’ walls.展开更多

Methods Male Spraque-Dawley rats were fed either with normal diet (ND) or high calorie diet (HC) for 20 weeks. BW and BP of tail artery were observed biweekly and tetraweekly respectively; serum leptin and fasting insulin (FINS) were detected by enzyme-linked immunoadsordent assay (ELISA) and radioimmunoassay (RIA) respectively. Fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and free fatty acid(FFA) were measured by conventional means. Results BW, abdominal fat weight (AFW), ratio of abdominal fat weight to body weight (R_ F/W), systolic blood pressure (SBP), diastolic blood pressure (DBP), serum levels of leptin and FINS, FPG, FFA increased in the HD group after 20 weeks diet intervention (P<0.05 or P<0.01). SBP was strongly correlated with BW, leptin, FINS and FFA (P<0.05), DBP was correlated with FFA (r=0.47, P<0.05). In addition, leptin was positively correlated with BW, AFW, R_ F/W, FINS and FFA (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Conclusion In this study of high calorie-diet induced rats, the gain of BW is accompanied by increased BP. The obese rats have hyperleptinemia, hyperinsulinemia, hyperglycemia and dyslipidemia which may have important effects on the development of obesity-related hypertension. R_ F/W is the key factor in which affect serum leptin level.展开更多

Treatments were: 1) 1 500 IU d^(-1) vitamin E without fat supplementation(1 500VE-F); 2) 1 500 IU d^(-1) vitamin E with fat supplement(1 500VE+F); 3) 3 000 IU d^(-1) vitamin E without fat supplementation(3 000VE-F); and 4) 3 000 IU d^(-1) vitamin E with fat supplement(3 000VE+F). Dietary treatments were initiated at approximately 28 d before expected calving dates and continued through 28 d postpartum. Dry matter intake(DMI) was unaffected(P〉0.05) by prepartum treatment. Regardless of vitamin E supplementation, DMI was greater(P〈0.01) in fat-supplemented cows compared with un-supplemented cows(19.60 vs. 18.45 kg d^(-1); SEM=0.42) during the postpartum period. Energy balance and body weight were not affected(P〉0.05) by treatments. Postpartum diets had no significant effect on milk yield or milk composition. Plasma concentrations of non-esterified fatty acids, glucose, and insulin were not affected(P〉0.05) by treatments. Regardless of vitamin E supplementation, plasma β-hydroxybutyrate concentration was greater(P〈0.05) in fat-supplemented cows compared with un-supplemented cows during the postpartum period. These results showed no indication of positive effects on lactation performance associated with vitamin E and dietary fat supplement in transition cows.展开更多

A total of 400 female Arbor Acres (AA) broiler breeders were studied. These female birds involved three experimental treatments and a control group with normal dietary energy diets (ND, 11.7 MJ of ME. kgt during the laying). In treatments 2, 3 and 4, the energies of diets were 20%, 30% and 50% (LD20, LD30 and LD50) lower than those of the control, respectively. The study commenced at the beginning of the laying period when the total egg production reached 5% of the flock. All the broiler offspring were fed the same diets. The results showed that in low energy diets, offspring showed decreased 1-day-old weight, but 49-day-old weight was higher in LD20 diet (P〈0.05). For offspring during days 1-49, the average daily gain (ADG) in LD20 group and the feed conversion ratio in LD50 group were improved as compared with those of the control (P〈0.05). Compared with the control, abdominal fat percentage increased in 49-day-old offspring from LD30 diet (P〈0.05); the fat content of breast muscle in offspring increased in broilers fed low energy diets (P〈0.05). In 28-day-old offspring from breeders given LD20 and LD50 diets, liver fat percentages were higher compared with ND (P〈0.05). The subcutaneous fat thickness in 28-day-old offspring from LD50 group and 49-day-old offspring from LD30 group was higher (P〈0.05). On day 49, the serum cholesterol (CHO) of offspring from breeders fed LD20 diet and serum high-density lipoprotein (HDL) of offspring from breeders fed LD50 diet reduced compared with those of the control (P〈0.05). In addition, a higher triiodothyronine (T3) content in serum was found in offspring from broiler breeders given LD20 and LD30 diets (P〈0.05). Serum thyroxine (T4) in offspring significantly decreased with the decrease of diet energy (P〈0.05). In conclusion, to a certain extent, dietary energy restriction in breeders could improve growth performance and promote lipid metabolism of offspring.展开更多

High salt and fat diets are known to have negative impacts on food intake (FI), body weight (BW), body composition (BC), glucose metabolism, and blood pressure. These factors have been studied as separate entities, but the main and interactive effects of dietary salt and fat received little study. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of sodium and fat content of the diet on FI, BW, and BC in male Wistar rats. Male Wistar Rats (n = 48) were allocated into 4 groups (n = 12) and received the following diets: 1. Normal sodium normal fat, 2. Normal sodium high fat, 3. High sodium normal fat, and 4. High sodium high-fat diet for 12 weeks. BW and FI were measured weekly. BC and organs’ weight were recorded post-termination. Regardless of sodium content, a greater FI was observed in normal-fat diet groups compared with high-fat diet groups. However, higher BW and fat (%) were observed in high-fat diet groups. Fasting blood glucose was higher in rats fed normal fat diets compared with those fed high-fat diets. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure was lower in rats fed either high fat, high salt, or normal fat, normal salt diet. In conclusion, fat but not salt content in the diet is a determining factor in the regulation of FI and body weight. Moreover, glucose metabolism can be influenced by both the fat and salt content of the diet.展开更多

Regardless of vitamin E supplementation, plasma β-hydroxybutyrate concentration was greater(P〈0.05) in fat-supplemented cows compared with un-supplemented cows during the postpartum period. These results showed no indication of positive effects on lactation performance associated with vitamin E and dietary fat supplement in transition cows.

文摘The study was carried out to investigate the effects of maternal dietary energy restriction on growth performance, serum indices and fat deposition of offspring. In conclusion, to a certain extent, dietary energy restriction in breeders could improve growth performance and promote lipid metabolism of offspring.

文摘The current Western diet contains high amounts of salt and fat. Moreover, glucose metabolism can be influenced by both the fat and salt content of the diet.
