Objective: To observe clinical therapeutic effect of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) aided enclosure needling in the treatment of stroke patients and changes of the related blood rheology. Methods: A total of 61 stroke patients were randomized into MRI aided enclosure needling group (MRI aided acupuncture group) (n=31) and conventional acupuncture group (n=30). For patients of MRI aided acupuncture group, acupuncture needles were inserted into the subcutaneous tissues around the focus projection scalp area displayed by MRI, with the needle tips toward the center of the projection region and with two needles being about 2 cm apart, combined with other acupoints according to the concrete syndromes or symptoms. For patients of conventional acupuncture group, Motor Area (MS 6) and Sensory Area (MS 7) on the contralateral side of the focus were punctured. The treatment was conducted once daily, continuously for 30 days. Results: After treatment, of the 31 cases in MRI aided acupuncture group, 20 were cured basically, 10 responded with significant improvement of symptoms and signs, one case had some improvement. While in conventional acupuncture group, of the 30 cases, 11 were cured basically, 15 responded with striking amelioration of symptoms and signs and 4 had some amelioration. Ridit analysis showed that the therapeutic effect of MRI aided acupuncture group was significantly superior to that of conventional acupuncture group (P<0.05). After treatment, the whole blood viscosity, plasma viscosity, hematocrit, whole blood reduction viscosity, hemagglutination index, and the total score of the two groups all decreased significantly in comparison with those of pre treatment of each group, while whole blood viscosity, hematocrit, vascular sclerosis index and the total score of MRI aided acupuncture group were obviously lower than those of conventional acupuncture group (P<0.05-0.01), suggesting that the effect of the former group in bettering blood rheology was pronouncedly superior to that of conventional acupuncture group. Conclusion: MRI aided acupuncture group is obviously superior to that of conventional acupuncture group in improving clinical symptoms and signs and blood rheology in stroke patients. 展开更多

Background: The influence of blood pressure (BP) lowering on intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) patients is unclear. To assess the safety and efficacy of aggressive antihypertensive therapies in acute ICH patients, we carried out a systematic review and meta-analysis. Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and VIP database up to July 2014 were searched. H igh-quality randomized controlled trials were included. Low-quality trials were excluded. Serious adverse events were defined as the primary outcome. The secondary outcomes were hematoma enlargement (HE) at 24 h after onset, mortality, and favorable clinical outcome at 90 days. Results: Four high-quality trials involving a total of 1427 patients met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed. Odds ratios (ORs) of primary outcome was 0.96 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.82-1.13, P = 0.61). ORs of HE at 24 h after onset, mortality and favorable clinical outcome at 90 days were 0.91 (95% CI: 0.72-1.17, P = 0.47), 0.97 (95% CI: 0.79-1.20, P = 0.81), 1.13 (95% CI: 0.98-1.30. P = 0.09) respectively. Conclusions: Aggressive BP management policies are safe and might have a potency of reducing HE and improving clinical outcome. 展开更多

Metastasis is one of the specificities of late stage tumor and also a lethal factor often encountered. The study of tumor metastasis has important meaning for prolonging patients' survival and elevating their quality of life, but no really ideal prevention and treatment method has been found so far. Recent researches showed that tumor metastasis is correlated with platelet aggregation and blood hyperviscosity manner. Therefore, the early application of surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and biological therapies, in combination with Chinese medicine therapy for activating blood circulation and removing stasis (ABCRS) may be, after all, an effective approach. ABCRS therapy is an important therapy of Chinese medicine, which, composed of several methods like smoothening blood flow in vessels, promoting blood circulation and dispersing stagnant blood, could influence tumor metastasis to different extents, and could coordinate with some other Chinese medicine therapeutic methods like supplementing qi, promoting qi, clearing heat, removing toxic substances, warming meridian, dispelling wind, eliminating dampness, nourishing yin, dissolving sputum, relieving stagnancy, emptying viscerals, etc. The effect and acting mechanism of ABCRS on tumor metastasis is summarized in this paper and its bi-directional regulatory effects discussed as well. 展开更多

Objective: To explore the mechanism ofintegrated traditional Chinese and Westernmedicine (TCM--WM ) therapy on chronicaplastic anemia (CAA). Methods: The RBClife span of 30 normal human subjects and 30patients with CAA were measured by sir labelled technique before and after TCM--WMtherapy. The morphology and distribution ofRBC membrane protein granules were observed by freeze fracture etching and transmission electron microscope. Results: The halflife of erythrocytes (RBC TI/2)was shortenedin CAA cases and there was a significant difference compared to healthy control (P <0. 01). After therapy, the RBC life span prolonged and approached the normal level. Before treatment, there existed abnormal in morphology, decrease in amount and uneven indistribution of protein granules in protoplasmicface (PF) and extracellular face (EF) of RBCmembrane. After treatment, the protein granules of RBC membrane was improved and approached to control. Conclusions: The morphology, amount, quality and distribution ofRBC membrane protein granule were closelyrelated to its life span. The therapeutic effectof TCM--WM was better than that of WMalone and it had a function both in stabilizingmembrane protein and extending the RBC lifespan. 展开更多

Objective: To confirm the efficacy and safety of Wufuxinnaoqing Soft Capsule (五福心脑清胶囊, WSC) in the treatment of chronic stable angina (blood stasis syndrome). Methods: A multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial with superiority test was designed. A total of 240 patients with chronic stable angina (blood stasis syndrome) from multiple centers were randomly and equally assigned to the treatment group and the control group. Based on standard treatment of Western medicine, the treatment group was given WSC, while the control group was given WSC mimetic, both for 12 weeks. Observed indicators included the efficacy in angina, the efficacy in Chinese medicine syndrome, the withdrawal or reduce rate of nitroglycerin and routine safety indices. Results: After 12-week treatment, the significant effective rate and total effective rate of the treatment group were significantly better than those of the control group (23.5% vs. 9.2%, 64.7% vs. 30.8%), respectively, with statistically significant difference (P〈0.01). After 12-week treatment, the decreased points and the decreased rate of angina symptom score in the treatment group were better than in the control group (5.1±4.2 points vs. 2.8± 3.5 points, 44.9% ±37.2% vs. 25.4%±30.7%) respectively, with significant difference (P〈0.01). After 12-week treatment, the significant effective rate and total effective rate of the treatment group were better than the control group (respectively, 30.3% vs. 15.0%, 67.2% vs. 45.0%, P〈0.01). After 8- or 12-week treatment, the decreased points and the decreased rate of Chinese medicine syndrome score in the treatment group were better than the control group (P〈0.05 or P〈0.01). After 12-week treatment, nitroglycerin withdrawal rate and the withdrawal or reduce rate in treatment group were better than the control group (P〈0.01). On safety evaluation, the incidence of adverse events (7.563% vs. 7.500%) and the incidence of cardiovascular events (0.840% vs. 0.000%) in the treatment group were similar with the control group, and the difference was not statistically significant (P〉0.05). Couch=SlOB: In treatment of chronic stable angina (blood stasis syndrome), WSC can reduce angina attacks and consumption of nitroglycerin, decrease angina severity degree, effectively relieve the blood stasis syndromes, such as chest pain, chest tightness, palpitations, dark purple tongue and other symptoms. Besides, adverse events and cardiovascular adverse events in the treatment group and the control group showed no difference. All shows that the drug is safe and effective.
