[Objective] This study was conducted to solve the problem of the lacking of special forage foxtail millet varieties. [Method] With wild large-grain foxtail millet as an original material, foxtail millet variety Jicaogu 1 (S724) for forage use was bred. [Result] Jicaogu 1 has following outstanding characteristics: (1) high content of crude protein: quality detection showed that the millet straw had a high content of crude protein up to 9.8%; (2) high yields of fresh grass and hay: in field detection, the average yield of fresh grass was 58 308.15 kg/hm2, which was higher than Sicao 2 (35 763.00 kg/hm2) by 58.29%, and the hay yield was 15 922.65 kg/hm2, which was higher than Sicao 2 (11 548.05 kg/hm2) by 37.88%; and (3) biological characteristics: Jicaogu 1 shows young seedlings with a growth period of 122 d, a plant height of 198.22 cm, an ear length of 23.65 cm, a stem/leaf ratio of 1.43 and a fresh weight/dry weight ratio of 37.86, there are 2-3 tillers generally, and the seed yield is 3 383.40 kg/hm2. [Conclusion] Summer seeding in vacant field in North China or spring seeding in Inner Mongolia could be carried out with Jicaogu 1, which is also adapt to mechanized harvest. The development of forage foxtail millet could be promoted by strengthening the extension of Jicaogu 1. 展开更多

The variety is early-maturing, high-yield and good-quality, and has resistances to lodging, blast and bacterial leaf blight, its rice is sweet soft, goluptious and lucidus as well as not coarse when it is cold, so it is a good commodity. Major Cultivation Technology of HQ No.1, a New Flue-cured Tobacco Cultivar

The transplanting period, density, the number of left leaves and fertilizer amounts of HQ No.1 were explored in Hengyang. The results showed that with transplanting periods of March 5-March 15, and planting space of 120 cmx(50-60) cm, agronomic and economic characters of tobaccos showed insignificant differences. Specifically, plant height was growing upon the number of left leaf and fertilizer amount; tobacco yield and output value kept increasing upon fertilizer, and both reached maximums with pure N at 195 kg/hm^2, showing significant differences with the treatment of pure N at 135 kg/hm^2; the number of left leaf had the least effects on agronomic and economic characters of tobaccos. The research indicated that highly-qualified HQ No.1 can be produced, given that tobaccos are transplanted during March 10-March 15, planting density of 15 000-16 500 seedlings/hm^2, the number of left leaves of 22-24 leaves per seedling, and pure N of 150-165 kg/hm^2 in Hengyang. 展开更多

[Objective] The aim was to explore application and popularization of Huaimai No.29. [Method] The characteristics, yields, quality, application range and use of Huaimai No.29 were introduced and the cultivation technology was concluded. [Result] Huaimai No.29 is cultivated with Huaimai No.20 as a female parent and Mianyang No.04254 as a male parent, it is a semi-winter variety, and matures later, with yield of 7.5-9.0 t/hm2. The variety is suitable to be grown in Henan Province, northern areas of Anhui Province and Jiangsu Province, the central Shaanxi plain, and Heze, Shandong Province. The ears are spindle-shaped and seeds grow quite well. The thousand-seed weight is in the range of 40-42 g, and it is suitable to be sown in early or middle October in Huaibei and late October in the area along Huaihe River. The basic seedlings maintain in the range of 1.80-2.70 million per hm2. [Conclusion] Huaimai No.29 is of high yield and high tolerance against coldness. The comprehensive characters performed good. The variety was approved by our country in 2009 and numbered as nation-approved wheat No.2009010. Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China in 1949,significant achievements have been made in cotton production in China.China has maintained its position as the world’s largest cotton producer for 33 years(1983–2015),with average annual increases of 3.5 and 3.9% in the unit yield and total output of cotton,respectively.Cotton production has played an extremely important role in the development of the national economy and the improvement of living standards.Although the cotton planting area has been reduced in recent years,the total output has remained relatively unchanged due to the continuous increase in the unit yield.China’s dominant position in global cotton production is undoubtedly attributed to the progress and development of cotton cultivation technology.Over the past 70 years,China has established a high-yielding and high-efficiency cotton cultivation mode that corresponds to its national conditions,including a large population and a limited land area.Furthermore,cotton cultivation technology is constantly being innovated and developed to keep pace with the times.In this paper,we review the development of cotton production and cultivation in China over the past 70 years,with a particular focus on the innovation and development of cotton cultivation technology with Chinese characteristics.This review is intended to provide guidance for the sustainable development of China’s cotton production in the future and to provide a reference for global cotton production. 展开更多

[Method] The research explored three methods of farmland prepara- tion, transplanting, and fertilization including shallow rotary tillage and deep ploughing, mechanical transplanting and hand transplanting, controlled-release fertilizer and quantitative fertilization in order to investigate effects of different treatment groups on rice characteristics, economic characteristics, as well as labor saving, yield increasing and profit improving. [Result] Rice increased by 596.4-809.55 kg/hm2, labor saving reached 120-135 per hm2, and profit improved in the range from 5 521.39 to 8 727.48 yuan/hm2 in the treatment groups by combinations of shallow rotary tillage, mechanical transplanting, and controlled-release fertilizer, of shallow rotary tillage, mechanical transplanting, and quantitative fertilization, and of deep ploughing, mechanical transplanting, and controlled release fertilizer. Background Artificial insemination(AI)is a routine breeding technology in animal reproduction.Nevertheless,the temperature-sensitive nature and short fertile lifespan of ram sperm samples hamper its use in AI.In this sense,nanotechnology is an interesting tool to improve sperm protection due to the development of nanomaterials for AI,which could be used as delivery vehicles.In this work,we explored the feasibility of vitamin E nanoemulsion(NE)for improving sperm quality during transport.Results With the aim of evaluating this proposal,ejaculates of 7 mature rams of Manchega breed were collected by artificial vagina and extended to 60×10^(6)spz/mL in AndromedR.Samples containing control and NE(12 mmol/L)with and without exogenous oxidative stress(100μmol/L Fe2+/ascorbate)were stored at 22 and 15℃and motility(CASA),viability(YO-PRO/PI),acrosomal integrity(PNA-FITC/PI),mitochondrial membrane potential(Mitotracker Deep Red 633),lipoperoxidation(C11 BODIPY 581/591),intracellular reactive oxygen species(ROS)production and DNA status(SCSAR)monitored during 96 h.Our results show that NE could be used to maintain ram spermatozoa during transport at 15 and 22℃for up to 96 h,with no appreciable loss of kinematic and physiological characteristics of freshly collected samples.Conclusions The storage of ram spermatozoa in liquid form for 2-5 d with vitamin E nanoemulsions may lead more flexibility to breeders in AI programs.In view of the potential and high versatility of these nanodevices,further studies are being carried out to assess the proposed sperm preservation medium on fertility after artificial insemination. 展开更多

Based on the investigation on the resource of native wild herbs plant in Guangxi from 2008 to 2011, the wild acclimatization and plant test were conducted to gramineous herbaceous plants of Saccharum arundinaceum Retz. cv. GM008, Saccharum arundinaceum Retz. cv. GM003, Saccharum arundinaceum Retz. cv. GM002, which had high content of fiber and high content of energy. The results showed that the annual dry matter content of the three kinds of wild arundinaceum were (25.16±2.45), (20.47±6.37), (11.27±0.18) t/hm2, respectively; energy indicators of coarse fiber, hemicelluloses, lignin and heat value of the three test plants were all 20-30% higher than control group. Therefore, the three kinds of herbs had good potential for producing energy. 展开更多

Zhangzagu No.22 was a new high-quality millet cultivar adapted to the climate characteristics of the summer sowing areas,which was selected by the Zhangjiakou Academy of Agricultural Sciences with sterile line A2 as the female parent and‘32×ISE375×Xia1 father’as the male parent.Zhangzagu No.22 has a growth period of 88 d in summer,and exhibits green seedlings,spindle-shaped panicles,a plant height of 135-145 cm,a panicle length of 23-28 cm,a grain weight per panicle of 18-22 g,a 1000-grain weight of 2.90 g,yellow rice,and resistance to herbicide Nabujing.In 2018,it passed the registration of non-major crop varieties by the Ministry of Agriculture,with the registration number:GPD Millet(2018)130193.This study introduced the breeding process,variety characteristics and related cultivation techniques of Zhangzagu No.22. 展开更多
