Building Automation Systems(BASs)are seeing increased usage in modern society due to the plethora of benefits they provide such as automation for climate control,HVAC systems,entry systems,and lighting controls.Many B...Building Automation Systems(BASs)are seeing increased usage in modern society due to the plethora of benefits they provide such as automation for climate control,HVAC systems,entry systems,and lighting controls.Many BASs in use are outdated and suffer from numerous vulnerabilities that stem from the design of the underlying BAS protocol.In this paper,we provide a comprehensive,up-to-date survey on BASs and attacks against seven BAS protocols including BACnet,EnOcean,KNX,LonWorks,Modbus,ZigBee,and Z-Wave.Holistic studies of secure BAS protocols are also presented,covering BACnet Secure Connect,KNX Data Secure,KNX/IP Secure,ModBus/TCP Security,EnOcean High Security and Z-Wave Plus.LonWorks and ZigBee do not have security extensions.We point out how these security protocols improve the security of the BAS and what issues remain.A case study is provided which describes a real-world BAS and showcases its vulnerabilities as well as recommendations for improving the security of it.We seek to raise awareness to those in academia and industry as well as highlight open problems within BAS security.展开更多
Burgeoning population and rapid urbanisation have contributed to two challenges facing cities today:food security and an increasing carbon footprint due to food imports.This paper examines the viability of rooftop far...Burgeoning population and rapid urbanisation have contributed to two challenges facing cities today:food security and an increasing carbon footprint due to food imports.This paper examines the viability of rooftop farming in urban centres in Asia.A context-specific exploration—sited in Singapore—looks at the challenges of building integrated agriculture.Findings suggest that Singapore’s public housing estates are suitable for rooftop farming.Implemented nationwide,such a scheme could result in a 700%increase in domestic vegetable production,satisfying domestic demand by 35.5%.Reducing food imports would also decrease Singapore’s carbon footprint by 9,052 tonnes of emissions annually.展开更多

It reflects a rational concept of how a rising China handles relations with the outside world. It rejects analysis and understanding of simple traditional thinking that a strong power is bound to seek hegemony. However, the Chinese diplomacy also needs Chinese thinking and perspectives. With analysis eclecticism and incorporated process constructivism to carry out study on the international relations, it can be found that the community of shared destiny is an economic, political and security order, is also a concept order; while a community of shared interests is its foundation, a community of shared security is its guarantee, the common knowledge composes its highest standard. Common security is the important guarantee and strategic goal for the community of shared destiny, i.e. it shows that the peaceful development strategy highlights the reasonable security demands of others China respects; win-win cooperation principle reflects the importance of cooperative security in the international pattern of deepening interdependence; partnership strategy shows diplomatic efforts of Chinese exploration and practice of the new security concept beyond "security alliance".展开更多
