This study determined the frequency of chronic respiratory illnesses and its related factors among bus drivers in Dakar, Senegal. Methods: This study had a cross-sectional design conducted in a total of 178 bus drivers in Dakar, Senegal. A questionnaire was used to inquire about socio-economic characteristics, occupational factors and respiratory symptoms of bus drivers. Lung function tests were used to determine the presence of asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). The relationship between our variables of interest and respiratory diseases was determined by logistic regression analysis. Results: The results of the study show that 57.9% of bus drivers had a chronic cough, and 65.7% had recurrent cold. Lung function tests showed that 38.8% of bus drivers had asthma and 30.3% COPD. Multivariate analysis found that recurrent cold increased the risk of asthma (OR = 6.3, 95% CI: 1.12 - 35.79) and COPD (OR = 7.7, 95% CI: 1.14 - 52.8). The respiratory health status of bus drivers depended on the work area (OR = 3.2, 95% CI: 1.13 - 9.31). Conclusion: The respiratory symptoms and illnesses observed among bus drivers are associated with their exposure to air pollutants from road traffic.展开更多

However, poor design of driver’s workplace is a major risk factor responsible for the uncomfortable conditions which operators of this highly technological system are exposed to especially when engaged in long distance driving. This study aimed at developing anthropometric model for business bus drivers in Nigerian which would facilitate sustainable design of driver’s workplace. A sample size of 161 drivers was randomly selected among strata of operators of buses in selected motor parks in the study area for the ergonomic study. Twelve anthropometric data were collected and analysed to obtain their 5th, 50th and 95th percentiles with which the anthropometric model were developed. Anthropometric model developed from 1932 data points was presented in forms of table showing measurement of sitting driver’s body parts in his workspace indicating design for average as well as extremities of 5th and 95th percentiles. The model represents a database from which designers, manufacturers of equipment, machine, automobiles and household goods can obtain relevant body measurement of the population under study in relation relevant to specific product feature and for development of sustainable workspace design.展开更多

The driver is mainly aimed at the embedded VxWorks system (real-time operating system) which is widely used in various fields of real-time systems. An efficient way is employed to develop this driver, which will advance the real-time control of the ICRH system on the experimental advanced superconductor tokamak (EAST). The driver is designed using the TORNADO integrated development environment (IDE), and implemented in C plus language. The details include the hardware configuration, analogue/digital (A/D) and digital/analogue (D/A) conversion, input and output (I/O) operation of the driver to support over five cards. The data acquisition card can be manipulated in a low-level program and meet the requirements of A/D conversion and D/A outputs.展开更多
Bus bunching has been a persistent issue in urban bus system since it first appeared,and it remains a challenge not fully resolved.This phenomenon may reduce the operational efficiency of the urban bus system,which is...Bus bunching has been a persistent issue in urban bus system since it first appeared,and it remains a challenge not fully resolved.This phenomenon may reduce the operational efficiency of the urban bus system,which is detrimental to the operation of fast-paced public transport in cities.Fortunately,extensive research has been undertaken in the long development and optimization of the urban bus system,and many solutions have emerged so far.The purpose of this paper is to summarize the existing solutions and serve as a guide for subsequent research in this area.Upon careful examination of current findings,it is found that,based on the different optimization objects,existing solutions to the bus bunching problem can be divided into five directions,i.e.,operational strategy improvement,traffic control improvement,driver driving rules improvement,passenger habit improvement,and others.While numerous solutions to bus bunching are available,there remains a gap in research exploring the integrated application of methods from diverse directions.Furthermore,with the development of autonomous driving,it is expected that the use of modular autonomous vehicles could be the most potential solution to the issue of bus bunching in the future.展开更多

The prototype ofthe system developed has beenemployed in the Police Fire Protection Bureau of Hubei Province, which performs consistently andefficiently.
