However, their reliability in harsh seawater conditions is a concern. Researchers address this by exploring three approaches: coating fiber surfaces, hybridizing fibers and matrices with or without nanofillers, and interply rearrangement. The damping and mechanical properties enhancement mechanisms were analyzed and compared through the porosity structure test, XRD analysis, and scanning electron microscope observation. The results show that the introduction of nanosilica significantly improves the dispersion of carbon nanotubes in the cement matrix. At the same time, the addition of nanosilica not only effectively reduces the critical pore size and average pore size of the cement composite material, but also exhibits good synergistic effects with carbon nanotubes, which can significantly optimize the pore structure. Finally, a rationalization suggestion for the co-doping of nanosilica and carbon nanotubes was given to achieve a significant increase in the flexural strength, compressive strength and loss factor of cement-based materials.展开更多

The electrical, dielectric, and surface wetting properties of the CNT/PA6 composites have been studied. The temperature dependence of the conductivity of the CNT/PA6 composite with 10.0wt% CNT loading (σRT - 10^-4 S/cm) are measured, and afterwards a charge-energy-limited tunnelling model (In σ(T) - T^-1/2) is found. With increasing CNT weight percentage from 0.0 to 10.0 wt%, the dielectric constant of the CNT/PA6 composites enhances and the dielectric loss tangent increases two orders of magnitude. In addition, water contact angles of the CNT/PA6 composites increase and the composites with CNT loading larger than 2.0 wt% even become hydrophobic. The obtained results indicate that the electrical and surface properties of the composites have been significantly enhanced by the embedded carbon nanotubes.展开更多

The effects of the concentration ratio of Co^2+ to Ni^2+, bath temperature, and pH on deposition rate are discussed. The prepared carbon nanotubes covered with Ni-Co-P were characterized and analyzed by fieldemission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, energy dispersive spectroscopy, and a vibrating sample magnetometer. The results show that the deposition rate reached the maximum when the concentration ratio of Co^2+ to Ni^2+ is 1 and the pH is 9; the deposition rate increases with the increase of bath temperature. The measurements of the magnetic properties of the obtained carbon nanotubes covered with Ni-Co-P indicate that the magnetic properties greatly depend on the concentration ratio of Co^2+ to Ni^2+, and the magnetic saturation reaches the maximum value when the Co^2+ to Ni^2+ ratio is 1. In addition, there are two peaks in the coercivity curve at Co^2+ to Ni^2+ ratios of 1/2 and 4/1, while the two peaks in the magnetic conductivity curve are located at Co^2+ to Ni^2+ ratios of 1/4 and 4/1.展开更多

To tailor the properties of silver, CNTs were incorporated into a silver matrix by a modified molecular level-mixing process. CNTs interact weakly with silver because of their non-reactive nature and lack of mutual solubility. Therefore, palladium was utilized as an alloying element to improve interfacial adhesion. Comparative microstructural characterizations and property evaluations of the nanocomposites were performed. The structural characterizations revealed that decorated type-CNTs were dispersed, embedded, and anchored into the silver matrix. The experimental results indicated that the modification of the silver and silver–palladium nanocomposite with CNT resulted in increases in the hardness and Young's modulus along with concomitant decreases in the electrical conductivity and the coefficient of thermal expansion(CTE). The hardness and Young's modulus of the nanocomposites were increased by 30%?40% whereas the CTE was decreased to 50%-60% of the CTE of silver. The significantly improved CTE and the mechanical properties of the CNT-reinforced silver and silver–palladium nanocomposites are correlated with the intriguing properties of CNTs and with good interfacial adhesion between the CNTs and silver as a result of the fabrication process and the contact action of palladium as an alloying element.展开更多

To solve this issue, here, a novel carbon fiber-based multiscale reinforcement is reported. To synthesize it, carbon fibers (CFs) have been first grafted by graphene oxide (GO), and then carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been in-situ grown on GO-grafted CFs by catalytic chemical vapor deposition. Characterizations on this novel reinforcement show that GO grafting cannot only nondestructively improve the surface chemical activity of CFs but also protect CFs against the high-temperature corrosion of metal catalyst during CNT growth, which maintains their tensile properties. Tensile property tests for unidirectional C/Cs with different preforms show that this novel reinforcement can endow C/C with improved tensile properties, 32% and 87% higher than that of pure C/C and C/C only doped with in-situ grown CNTs. This work would open up a possibility to fabricate multiscale C/Cs with excellent global performance.展开更多

Finally, a rationalization suggestion for the co-doping of nanosilica and carbon nanotubes was given to achieve a significant increase in the flexural strength, compressive strength and loss factor of cement-based materials.

文摘This paper reports that the multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT)/nylon-6 (PA6) nanocomposites with dif- ferent MWCNT loadings have been prepared by a simple melt-compounding method. The obtained results indicate that the electrical and surface properties of the composites have been significantly enhanced by the embedded carbon nanotubes.

文摘In this work, the effects of carbon nanotubes(CNTs)on the microstructure evolution, thermal conductivity, and mechanical properties of C_(f)/SiC composites during chemical vapor infiltration(CVI)densification were investigated in detail.Compared with composites without CNTs,the thermal conductivity, flexural strength, flexural modulus, fracture toughness, interfacial shear strength, and proportional limit stress of specimens with CNTs of 4.94 wt%were improved by 117%,21.8%,67.4%,10.3%,36.4%,and 71.1%,respectively.This improvement was attributed to the role of CNTs in the division of inter-layer pores, which provided abundant vapor growth sites for the ceramic matrix and promoted densification of the whole composite. In addition, the high thermal conductivity network formed by the overlap of CNTs and the rivet strengthening effect of CNTs were beneficial for synergistic improvement of thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of the composites. Therefore, this study has practical significance for the development of thermal protection composite components with enhanced thermal conductivity and mechanical characteristics.

文摘The super-aligned carbon nanotube(SACNT)films reinforced copper(Cu)laminar composites with different orientationsof CNT ply were fabricated by electrodeposition. The results show that the tensile strength and yield strength of cross-ply compositewith5.0%(volume fraction)of SACNT reach maximum of336.3MPa and246.0MPa respectively, increased by74.0%and124.5%compared with pure Cu prepared with the same method. Moreover, the electrical conductivities of all the prepared composites areover75%IACS.The result of TEM analysis shows that the size of Cu grain and the thickness of twin lamellae can be reduced byadding SACNT,and the refining effect in cross-ply composites is more significant than that in unidirectional ply composites.Theenhanced strength of the Cu/SACNT composites comes from not only the reinforcing effect of SACNT films but also the additionalstrengthening of the Cu grain refinement caused by CNT orientation.

文摘Carbon nanotubes were coated with a layer of nickel-cobalt-phosphorus (Ni-Co-P) alloy with different compositions of Ni/Co through electroless plating. In addition, there are two peaks in the coercivity curve at Co^2+ to Ni^2+ ratios of 1/2 and 4/1, while the two peaks in the magnetic conductivity curve are located at Co^2+ to Ni^2+ ratios of 1/4 and 4/1.

文摘The mechanical, electrical, and thermal expansion properties of carbon nanotube(CNT)-based silver and silver–palladium(10:1, w/w) alloy nanocomposites are reported. The significantly improved CTE and the mechanical properties of the CNT-reinforced silver and silver–palladium nanocomposites are correlated with the intriguing properties of CNTs and with good interfacial adhesion between the CNTs and silver as a result of the fabrication process and the contact action of palladium as an alloying element.

文摘In-situ growing carbon nanotubes (CNTs) directly on carbon fibers (CFs) always lead to a degraded tensile strength of CFs and then a poor fiber-dominated mechanical property of carbon/carbon composites (C/ Cs). This work would open up a possibility to fabricate multiscale C/Cs with excellent global performance.

文摘A novel approach was successfully developed to fabricate bulk carbon nanotube-reinforced Mg matrix com-posites with uniform carbon nanotubes(CNTs).The approach consists of pre-dispersion and ultrasonic vibration.Homoge-neous and single CNTs on flake Zn powder can be achieved simply by slurry blending. The pre-dispersed CNTs were added to Mg melt, and then, the melt was ultrasonically pro-cessed.After ultrasonic vibration, the CNTs/Mg-6Zn melt was cast into a metal mold. Most CNTs distribute homoge-neously and singly in the bulk composites. Moreover, good interfacial bonding is achieved, and Raman spectroscopy analysis shows that the damage to CNTs is insignificant.Meanwhile,CNTs evidently improve the ultimate tensile strength, yield strength and elongation. The Kelly-Tyson formula agrees well with the experimental tensile value, and the load-transfer efficiency is nearly equal to 1.
文摘Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)-Fe composites were prepared via the metal organic chemical vapor deposi- tion by depositing iron pentacarbonyl on the surface of MWCNTs. The structural and morphological analyses demonstrated that Fe nanoparticles were deposited on the surface of the MWCNTs. The electromagnetic properties of the MWCNTs were significantly changed, and the absorbing capacity evidently improved after the Fe deposition on the MWCNT surface. A minimum reflection loss of -29.4 dB was observed at 8.39 GHz, and the less than -10 dB bandwidth was about 10.6 GHz, which covered the whole X band (8.2-12.4 GHz) and the whole Ku band (12.4-18 GHz), indicating that the MWCNT-Fe composites could be used as an effective microwave absorption material.
