LIX 84-ICNS is a novel extractant which is still being studied, especially for nickel and cobalt separation in ammonia-ammonium carbonate solution. A series of solvent extraction tests were performed at various equilibrium pH, temperature, extractant concentration, and volume ratio of organic to aqueous solution (O/A ratio). The investigation results show that the highest nickel and cobalt extraction percentages of 99.8% and 90.3% were obtained from the extraction test at equilibrium pH of 8.75, temperature of 55°C, extractant concentration of 40% (v/v) and O/A ratio of 1/1, respectively. Oxidation of cobalt in aqueous solution prior to extraction is needed to minimize co-extraction of cobalt. Herein, an efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst based on hollow cobalt oxide nanoparticles embedded in nitrogen-doped carbon nanosheets(Co/N-Pg) is fabricated for Zn–air batteries. A lowcost biomass peach gum, consisting of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen without other heteroatoms, was used as carbon source to form carbon matrix hosting hollow cobalt oxide nanoparticles. Meanwhile, the melamine was applied as nitrogen source and template precursor, which can convert to carbon-based template graphitic carbon nitride by polycondensation process. Owing to the unique structure and synergistic effect between hollow cobalt oxide nanoparticles and Co-N-C species, the proposal Co/N-Pg catalyst displays not only prominent bifunctional electrocatalytic activities for ORR and OER, but also excellent durability. Remarkably, the assembled Zn–air battery with Co/N-Pg air electrode exhibited a low discharge-charge voltage gap(0.81 V at 50 mA cm^-2) and high peak power density(119 mW cm^-2) with long-term cycling stability. This work presents an effective approach for engineering transition metal oxides and nitrogen modified carbon nanosheets to boost the performance of bifunctional electrocatalysts for Zn–air battery.展开更多

Compared with OMCs with long channel length, due to more entrances for catalytic target accessibility and a short pathway for rapid diffusion, the utilization efficiency of cobalt nanoparticles inside the plate-like OMCs with short pore length is well improved, which can take full advantage of porous structure in electrocatalysis and increase the utilization of catalysts. The active sites in N/Co/OMCs for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) are highly exposed to oxygen molecule, which results in a high activity for ORR. By combination of the catalytic properties of nitrogen dopant, incorporation of Co nanoparticles, and structural properties of OMCs, the N/Co/plate-like OMCs are highly active noble-metal free catalysts for ORR in alkaline solution. The H2-DBD plasma treatment simultaneously decomposed and reduced the cobalt precursor at a lower temperature and in a shorter time than the conventional method (calcination and hydrogen reduction). It is considered that the H2-DBD plasma method can remarkably decrease the amount of energy input compared to traditional methods used to prepare the Co-based catalyst in Fischer-Tropsch synthesis (FTS). Results showed that the Co catalyst prepared by H2-DBD plasma had an equivalent catalytic performance for FTS as that prepared using the conventional method in calcination and hydrogen reduction, thereby determining that H2-DBD plasma was an effective alternative treatment for preparing the Co/CNTs catalyst for FTS. This technology will provide a new strategy for preparing catalysts in other catalysis processes.展开更多

Cobalt hydroxide cathodlcally deposited fiom Co(NO3)O2 solution with carbon nanotubes as matrix exhibited large pseudo-capacitance of 322 F/g in 1 mol/L KOH. To characterize the cobalt hydroxide nanocomposite electrode, a charge-discharge cycling test, cyclic voltammetry, and an impedance test were done. This cobalt hydroxide composite exhibiting excellent pseudo-capacitive behavior (i.c. high reversibility, high specific capacitance, low impedance), was demonstrated to be a candidate for the application of electrochemical supercapacitors. A combined capacitor consisting of cobalt hydroxide composite as a cathode and activated carbon fiber as an anode was reported. The electrochemical pcrformance of the combined capacitor was characterized by cyclic voltammetry and a dc charge/discharge test. The combined capacitor showed ideal capacitor behavior with an extended operating voltage of 1.4 V. According to the extended operating voltage, the energy density of the combined capacitor at a current density of 100 mA/cm^2 was found to be 11 Wh/kg. The combined capacitor exhibited high-energy density and stable power characteristics,

文摘Rational design of low-cost, highly electrocatalytic activity, and stable bifunctional electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction(OER) has been a great significant for metal–air batteries. This work presents an effective approach for engineering transition metal oxides and nitrogen modified carbon nanosheets to boost the performance of bifunctional electrocatalysts for Zn–air battery.

文摘Carbon quantum dots(CQDs)as a new class of emerging materials have gradually drawn researchers’concern in recent years. In this work, the graphitic CQDs are prepared through a scalable approach, achieving a high yield with more than 50%.The obtained CQDs are further used as structure-directing and conductive agents to synthesize novel N,S-CQDs/NiCo2S4 composite cathode materials, manifesting the enhanced electrochemical properties resulted from the synergistic effect of highly conductive N,S-codoped CQDs offering fast electronic transport and unique micro-/nanostructured NiCo2S4 microspheres with Faradaic redox characteristic contributing large capacity. Moreover, the nitrogen-doped reduced graphene oxide(N-rGO)/Fe2O3 composite anode materials exhibit ultrahigh specific capacity as well as significantly improved rate property and cycle performance originating from the high-capacity prism-like Fe2O3 hexahedrons tightly wrapped by highly conductive N-rGO.A novel alkaline aqueous battery assembled by these materials displays a specific energy(50.2 Wh kg^−1),ultrahigh specific power(9.7 kW kg^−1)and excellent cycling performance with 91.5%of capacity retention at 3 A g^−1 for 5000 cycles. The present research offers a valuable guidance for the exploitation of advanced energy storage devices by the rational design and selection of battery/capacitive composite materials.

文摘Lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) are considered new generation of large-scale energy-storage devices. However,LIBs suffer from a lack of desirable anode materials with excellent specific capacity and cycling stability. In this work,we design a novel hierarchical structure constructed by encapsulating cobalt sulfide nanowires within nitrogen-doped porous branched carbon nanotubes(NBNTs)for LIBs.The unique hierarchical Co9S8@NBNT electrode displayed a reversible specific capacity of 1310 mAhg-1 at a current density of 0.1 Ag-1,and was able to maintain a stable reversible discharge capacity of 1109 mAhg-1 at a current density of 0.5 Ag-1 with coulombic efficiency reaching almost 100% for 200 cycles. The excellent rate and cycling capabilities can be ascribed to the hierarchical porosity of the one-dimensional Co9S8@NBNT internetworks, the incorporation of nitrogen doping, and the carbon nanotube confinement of the active cobalt sulfide nanowires offering a proximate electron pathway for the isolated nanoparticles and shielding of the cobalt sulfide nanowires from pulverization over long cycling periods.

文摘Fiber-supercapacitors(FSCs)are promising power sources for miniature portable and wearable electronic devices. However, the development and practical application of these FSCs have been severely hindered by their low volumetric capacitance and narrow operating voltage. In this work, vertically aligned nickel cobalt sulfide(Ni Co2S4)nanowires grown on carbon nanotube(CNT)fibers were achieved through an in-situ two-step hydrothermal reaction method. The as-prepared Ni Co2S4@CNT fiber electrode exhibits a high volumetric capacitance of 2332 F cm-3,benefiting from its superior electric conductivity, large surface area, and rich Faradic redox reaction sites.Furthermore,a Ni Co2S4@CNT//VN@CNT(vanadium nitride nanosheets grown on CNT fibers)asymmetric fiber-supercapacitor(AFSC)was successfully fabricated. The device exhibits an operating voltage up to 1.6 V and a high volumetric energy density of 30.64m Wh cm-3.The device also possesses outstanding flexibility as evidenced by no obvious performance degradation under various bending angles and maintaining high capacitance after 5000 bending cycles. This work promotes the practical application of flexible wearable energy-storage devices.

文摘Nitrogen-doped carbon materials encapsulating 3 d transition metals are promising alternatives to replace noble metal Pt catalysts for efficiently catalyzing the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR). Herein, we use cobalt substituted perfluorosulfonic acid/polytetrafluoroethylene copolymer and dicyandiamide as the pyrolysis precursor to synthesize nitrogen-doped carbon nanotube(N–CNT) encapsulating cobalt nanoparticles hybrid material. The carbon layers and specific surface area of N–CNT have a critical role to the ORR performance due to the exposed active sites, determined by the mass ratio of the two precursors. The optimum hybrid material exhibits high ORR activity and stability, as well as excellent performance and durability in zinc–air battery.

文摘Potassium-ion batteries(KIBs)have great potential for applications in large-scale energy storage devices. However, the larger radius of K+leads to sluggish kinetics and inferior cycling performance, severely restricting its practical applicability.Herein,we propose a rational strategy involving a Prussian blue analogue-derived graphitized carbon anode with fast and durable potassium storage capability, which is constructed by encapsulating cobalt nanoparticles in nitrogen-doped graphitized carbon(Co-NC).Both experimental and theoretical results show that N-doping effectively promotes the uniform dispersion of cobalt nanoparticles in the carbon matrix through Co-N bonds. Moreover, the cobalt nanoparticles and strong Co-N bonds synergistically form a threedimensional conductive network, increase the number of adsorption sites, and reduce the diffusion energy barrier, thereby facilitating the adsorption and the diffusion kinetics. These multiple effects lead to enhanced reversible capacities of 305 and 208.6 mAh g^−1 after 100 and 300 cycles at 0.05 and 0.1 A g^−1,respectively,demonstrating the applicability of the Co-NC anode for KIBs.

文摘In this work, nitrogen-doped cobalt nanoparticlesinitrogen-doped plate-like ordered mesoporous carbons (N/Co/OMCs) were used as noble-metal free electrocatalysts with high catalytic efficiency. 文摘Hydrogen dielectric-barrier discharge (H2-DBD) plasma was successfully used to prepare carbon nanotubes (CNTs)-supported cobalt (Co) catalyst. This technology will provide a new strategy for preparing catalysts in other catalysis processes.
