What happens when a fat black woman shows up(or is exhibited)in environments with the highest media visibility?What are the relationships built between these bodies and viewers whose eyes are accustomed to consuming m...What happens when a fat black woman shows up(or is exhibited)in environments with the highest media visibility?What are the relationships built between these bodies and viewers whose eyes are accustomed to consuming more homogeneous and controlled images?In this article,we see,through the analysis of famous women of modest social origin,among them the Brazilian singer MC Carol and the American presenter Oprah Winfrey,how the presence of dark skin and fat bodies,besides the markers of poverty,is still seen as faults that disorganize the idealized scenario of celebrities.In this sense,it is noticed that there is a hierarchy of celebrities,and that getting to the pulpit of high visibility and staying there are more dramatic tasks for those who do not belong to the subjective and imaginary repertoire of celebrities.This paper examines this question drawing on the concept of Weberian status as it is used in celebrity studies,at the same time that indicates the limitations of such approach.展开更多

Objective:To analyze misdiagnosis features in clinical cases of“Classified Medical Cases of Famous Physicians”and“Supplement to Classified Case Records of Celebrated Physicians.”Materials and Methods:Two hundred a...Objective:To analyze misdiagnosis features in clinical cases of“Classified Medical Cases of Famous Physicians”and“Supplement to Classified Case Records of Celebrated Physicians.”Materials and Methods:Two hundred and five ancient misdiagnosed cases were analyzed in aspects of locations(exterior-interior type,qi-blood type and Zang‑Fu organs type)and patterns(heat-cold type and deficiency-excess type)by Apriori Algorithm Method.Results:The main types of misdiagnosis in those medical casesare as follows::Zang‑Fu location misjudgment,misjudging the interior as the exterior,misjudging deficiency pattern as excess pattern,and misjudging cold pattern as heat pattern.Among them,the most outstanding type is the misjudgment of deficiency–cold pattern as excess–heat pattern.Conclusions:(1)Accurate judgment of location and differentiation of deficiency and excess patterns are the key points in diagnosing the diseases correctly.The confusion of true deficiency–cold and pseudo‑excess–heat pattern should be taken seriously.(2)Data mining on ancient clinical cases offers a new methodology for assisting clinical diagnosis of traditional Chinese medicine.展开更多
Twitter has become very popular among celebrities. It is the main platform used by them to publish press releases and, especially, to reach out to their fans. Given the pervasiveness of celebrities on the site, people...Twitter has become very popular among celebrities. It is the main platform used by them to publish press releases and, especially, to reach out to their fans. Given the pervasiveness of celebrities on the site, people with related interests may be especially likely to start using the service due to the perception of direct access to a famous person. As for the celebrities, it is a way of being close to the public and giving them an insight in to the life of a celebrity. Although most celebrity Twitter accounts are only used for promotion purposes, many celebrities use their personal accounts for the purpose of communicating with their fans, friends and other celebrities. These celebrities tweet personal photos and share their inner thoughts for various reasons and to different audiences. Thus in this study I ask: What are celebrity speech patterns on Twitter? Are they talking mostly to fans, and if not, who are they talking to? How are they talking to these different audiences? I address these questions by analyzing the tweets publicly available on four active celebrities’ Twitter timelines. The findings support that these celebrities indeed address different audiences on Twitter, including fans, friends, family and other celebrities. The findings further reveal that celebrities tend to communicate using different speech acts when talking to these different audiences. In light of this evidence, I attempt to highlight patterns that may be relevant with regards to the celebrities’ gender.展开更多
