The heat transfer and pressure loss characteristics on a square channel with two opposite surfaces roughened by high blockage ratio ribs are measured by systematic experiments.Reynolds numbers studied in the channel r...The heat transfer and pressure loss characteristics on a square channel with two opposite surfaces roughened by high blockage ratio ribs are measured by systematic experiments.Reynolds numbers studied in the channel range from 1 400 to 8 000.The ratios of rib height to hydraulic diameter (e/D) are 0.2and 0.33,respectively.The ratio of rib spacing to height (P/e) ranges from 5to 15.The rib orientations in the opposite surfaces are symmetrical and staggered arrangements.The results show that the heat transfer coefficients are increased with the increase of rib height and Reynolds number,though at the cost of higher pressure losses.When the rib spacing to height ratio is 10,it keeps the highest heat transfer coefficient in three kinds of rib spacing to height ratios 5,10 and 15.The heat transfer coefficient of symmetrical arrangement ribs is higher than that of the staggered arrangement ribs,but the pressure loss of the symmetrical arrangement ribs is larger than that of the staggered arrangement ribs.展开更多

The ...The ground-state energy level (GEL) and electron distribution of GaAs pseudomorphic high-electron-mobility transistors (PHEMTs) are analyzed by a self-consistent solution to the Schrodinger-Poisson equations. The indium composition and thickness of the InGaAs channel are optimized according to the GEL position. The GEL position is not in direct proportion to 1/d^2 (d is the channel thickness) by considering the influence of electron distribution in the InGaAs channel. Indium composition 0.22 and channel thickness 9 nm are obtained by considering the mismatch between InGaAs and AlGaAs. Several PHEMT samples are grown according to the theoretical results and mobility 6300 cm^2 /V.s is achieved.展开更多

The experimental and numerical investigations are both conducted using water as the working fluid. Th...The present study deals with natural convection flow in a vertical open-ended channel with wall constant heat flux. The experimental and numerical investigations are both conducted using water as the working fluid. The numerical code is developed using finite differences scheme to solve the Navier-Stokes equations under the Boussinesq assumption. Concerning the experimental apparatus, it consists of two heated walls immersed in water. Temperature and velocity measurements are provided for different modified Rayleigh numbers based on the walls spacing b Rab = 1.67 x 10 6,3.6 x 10 6,8.97 x10 6,1.69 x 10 7,4.29 x 10 7. The numerical code is first validated with a numerical benchmark. Then, comparison between experimental and numerical results is performed. The code provides a satisfactory prediction of main quantities compared to the experimental results but only for the lowest Rayleigh numbers. For higher modified Rayleigh numbers, the flow becomes three-dimensional and turbulent. Therefore, 2D numerical simulations fail to predict flow and heat transfer for this range of modified Rayleigh number.展开更多

Based upon the principle of process-response model, an experimental study with 18 runs is carried out in LESRC. This paper is focused on the variation of the energy dissipation versus the channel morphology during and after the bedmaking process of braided channel. The results show that there exists a good empirical relationship between the energy dissipation rate and channel morphology. According to this relationship and the theory of minimum rate of energy dissipation, the authors explain the metamorphosis of the model channel with the development of the braided river.展开更多
