Traditional numerical methods, such as the finite element method(FEM), often face a trade-off between calculation accuracy and efficiency. In this paper, we propose a quasi-smooth manifold element(QSME) method to address this challenge, and provide the accurate and efficient analysis of two-dimensional(2D) anisotropic heat conduction problems in composites with complex geometry. The QSME approach achieves high calculation precision by a high-order local approximation that ensures the first-order derivative continuity. The results demonstrate that the QSME method is robust and stable, offering both high accuracy and efficiency in the heat conduction analysis. With the same degrees of freedom(DOFs), the QSME method can achieve at least an order of magnitude higher calculation accuracy than the traditional FEM. Additionally, under the same level of calculation error, the QSME method requires 10 times fewer DOFs than the traditional FEM. The versatility of the proposed QSME method extends beyond anisotropic heat conduction problems in complex composites. The proposed QSME method can also be applied to other problems, including fluid flows, mechanical analyses, and other multi-field coupled problems, providing accurate and efficient numerical simulations.展开更多

文摘Due to the long construction life, improper design methods, brittle material properties and poor construction techniques, most existing masonry structures do not perform well during earthquakes. The retrofitting method using an external steel-meshed mortar layer is widely used to retrofit existing masonry buildings.Assessing the seismic performance of masonry walls reinforced by an external steel-meshed mortar layer reasonably and effectively is a difficult subject in the research field of masonry structures.Based on the combined finite-discrete elements method, the numerical models of retrofitted brick walls with four different masonry mortar strengths by an external mortar layer are established. The shear strength of mortar and the contact between the retrofitted mortar layer and the brick blocks are discussed in detail. The failure patterns and load-displacement curves of the retrofitted brick walls were obtained by applying low cycle reciprocating loads to the numerical model, and the bearing capacity and the failure mechanism of the retrofitted walls were obtained by comparing the failure patterns, ultimate bearing capacity, deformability and other aspects with the tests. This study provides a basis for improving the seismic strengthening design method of masonry structures and helps to better assess the seismic performance of masonry structures after retrofitting.

文摘In this work,an acoustic topology optimizationmethod for structural surface design covered by porous materials is proposed. The analysis of acoustic problems is performed using the isogeometric boundary elementmethod.Taking the element density of porousmaterials as the design variable, the volume of porousmaterials as the constraint, and the minimum sound pressure or maximum scattered sound power as the design goal, the topology optimization is carried out by solid isotropic material with penalization(SIMP)method. To get a limpid 0–1 distribution,a smoothing Heaviside-like function is proposed. To obtain the gradient value of the objective function,a sensitivity analysis method based on the adjoint variable method(AVM)is proposed. To find the optimal solution, the optimization problems are solved by the method of moving asymptotes(MMA)based on gradient information.Numerical examples verify the effectiveness of the proposed topology optimization method in the optimization process of two-dimensional acoustic problems.Furthermore, the optimal distribution of sound-absorbingmaterials is highly frequency-dependent and usually needs to be performed within a frequency band.

文摘Liquid phase exfoliation(LPE)process for graphene production is usually carried out in stirred tank reactor and the interactions between the solvent and the graphite particles are important as to improve the production efficiency. In this paper, these interactions were revealed by computational fluid dynamics–discrete element method(CFD-DEM)method.Based on simulation results, both liquid phase flow hydrodynamics and particle motion behavior have been analyzed, which gave the general information of the multiphase flow behavior inside the stirred tank reactor as to graphene production.By calculating the threshold at the beginning of graphite exfoliation process, the shear force from the slip velocity was determined as the active force. These results can support the optimization of the graphene production process.

文摘We propose a novel symplectic finite element method to solve the structural dynamic responses of linear elastic systems. For the dynamic responses of continuous medium structures, the traditional numerical algorithm is the dissipative algorithm and cannot maintain long-term energy conservation. Thus,a symplectic finite element method with energy conservation is constructed in this paper.A linear elastic system can be discretized into multiple elements, and a Hamiltonian system of each element can be constructed. The single element is discretized by the Galerkin method, and then the Hamiltonian system is constructed into the Birkhoffian system. Finally, all the elements are combined to obtain the vibration equation of the continuous system and solved by the symplectic difference scheme.Through the numerical experiments of the vibration response of the Bernoulli-Euler beam and composite plate,it is found that the vibration response solution and energy obtained with the algorithm are superior to those of the Runge-Kutta algorithm. The results show that the symplectic finite element method can keep energy conservation for a long time and has higher stability in solving the dynamic responses of linear elastic systems.
文摘This work has a two-fold purpose. On the one hand, the theoretical formulation of a three-dimensional(3D)acoustic propagation model for shallow waters with a constant sound speed is presented, based on the boundary element method(BEM),which uses a half-space Green function instead of the more conventional free-space Green function. On the other hand,a numerical implementation is illustrated to explore the formulation in simple idealized cases, controlled by a few parameters, which provides necessary tests for the accuracy and performance of the model. The half-space Green's function, which has been previously used in scattering and diffraction, adds terms to the usual expressions of the integral operators without altering their continuity properties.Verifications against the wavenumber integration solution of the Pekeris waveguide suggest that the model allows an adequate prediction for the acoustic field.Likewise, numerical experiments in relation to the necessary mesh size for the description of the water-marine sediment interface lead to the conclusion that a transmission loss prediction with acceptable accuracy can be obtained with the use of a limited mesh around the desired evaluation region.
文摘This paper focuses on the analytical and numerical asymptotical stability of neutral reaction-diffusion equations with piecewise continuous arguments.First, for the analytical solutions of the equations,we derive their expressions and asymptotical stability criteria.Second, for the semi-discrete and one-parameter fully-discrete finite element methods solving the above equations,we work out the sufficient conditions for assuring that the finite element solutions are asymptotically stable. Finally, with a typical example with numerical experiments,we illustrate the applicability of the obtained theoretical results.

文摘Nearfield acoustic holography(NAH)is a powerful tool for realizing source identification and sound field reconstruction. The wave superposition(WS)-based NAH is appropriate for the spatially extended sources and does not require the complex numerical integrals.Equivalent source method(ESM),as a classical WS approach,is widely used due to its simplicity and efficiency. In the ESM,a virtual source surface is introduced,on which the virtual point sources are taken as the assumed sources, and an optimal retreat distance needs to be considered.A newly proposed WS-based approach, the element radiation superposition method(ERSM),uses piston surface source as the assumed source with no need to choose a virtual source surface. To satisfy the application conditions of piston pressure formula, the sizes of pistons are assumed to be as small as possible, which results in a large number of pistons and sampling points. In this paper, transfer matrix modes(TMMs),which are composed of the singular vectors of the vibro-acoustic transfer matrix, are used as the sparse basis of piston normal velocities. Then, the compressive ERSM based on TMMs is proposed.Compared with the conventional ERSM,the proposed method maintains a good pressure reconstruction when the number of sampling points and pistons are both reduced.Besides, the proposed method is compared with the compressive ESM in a mathematical sense. Both simulations and experiments for a rectangular plate demonstrate the advantage of the proposed method over the existing methods.

文摘Efficient flow simulation and optimization methods of hydraulic fracture morphology in unconventional reservoirs are effective ways to enhance oil/gas recovery.Based on the connection element method(CEM)and distribution of stimulated reservoir volume, the complex hydraulic fracture morphology was accurately described using heterogeneous node connection system. Then a new fracture connection element method(FCEM)for fluid flow in stimulated unconventional reservoirs with complex hydraulic fracture morphology was proposed. In the proposed FCEM,the arrangement of dense nodes in the stimulated area and sparse nodes in the unstimulated area ensures the calculation accuracy and efficiency. The key parameter, transmissibility, was also modified according to the strong heterogeneity of stimulated reservoirs. The finite difference and semi-analytical tracking were used to accurately solve the pressure and saturation distribution between nodes. The FCEM is validated by comparing with traditional numerical simulation method, and the results show that the bottom hole pressure simulated by the FCEM is consistent with the results from traditional numerical simulation method, and the matching rate is larger than 95%.The proposed FCEM was also used in the optimization of fracturing parameters by coupling the hydraulic fracture propagation method and intelligent optimization algorithm. The integrated intelligent optimization approach for multi-parameters,such as perforation number, perforation location, and displacement in hydraulic fracturing is proposed. The proposed approach was applied in a shale gas reservoir, and the result shows that the optimized perforation location and morphology distribution are related to the distribution of porosity/permeability.When the perforation location and displacement are optimized with the same fracture number,NPV increases by 70.58%,which greatly improves the economic benefits of unconventional reservoirs. This work provides a new way for flow simulation and optimization of hydraulic fracture morphology of multi-fractured horizontal wells in unconventional reservoirs.

文摘Discrete element method(DEM)has been widely utilised to model the mechanical behaviours of granular materials. However, with simplified particle morphology or rheology-based rolling resistance models,DEM failed to describe some responses, such as the particle kinematics at the grain-scale and the principal stress ratio against axial strain at the macro-scale.This paper adopts a computed tomography(CT)-based DEM technique, including particle morphology data acquisition from micro-CT(mCT),spherical harmonic-based principal component analysis(SH-PCA)-based particle morphology reconstruction and DEM simulations,to investigate the capability of DEM with realistic particle morphology for modelling granular soils’micro-macro mechanical responses with a consideration of the initial packing state, the morphological gene mutation degree, and the confining stress condition. It is found that DEM with realistic particle morphology can reasonably reproduce granular materials’micro-macro mechanical behaviours, including the deviatoric stressevolumetric straineaxial strain response, critical state behaviour, particle kinematics, and shear band evolution.Meanwhile, the role of multiscale particle morphology in granular soils depends on the initial packing state and the confining stress condition. For the same granular soils, rougher particle surfaces with a denser initial packing state and a higher confining stress condition result in a higher degree of shear strain localisation.
