Two charging regimes are assumed. The Controlled Charging Regime (CCR) between 16:30 hours and 06:00 hours of the next day and the Uncontrolled Charging Regime (UCR) between 06:00 hours and 16:30 hours of the same day. During the CCR, the charging of EVs is coordinated and controlled by means of a wireless two-way communication link between EV Smart Charge Controllers (EVSCCs) at EV owners’ premises and the EV Load Controller (EVLC) at the local LV distribution substation. The EVLC sorts the EVs batteries in ascending order of their states of charge (SoC) and sends command signals for charging to as many EVs as the transformer could allow at that interval based on the condition of the transformer as analysed by the Distribution Transformer Monitor (DTM). A real and typical urban LV area distribution network in Great Britain (GB) is used as the case study. The technique is applied on</span></span><span><span><span style="font-family:""> </span></span></span><span><span><span style="font-family:"">the LV area when its transformer is carrying the future load demand of the area on a typical winter weekday in the year 2050. To achieve the load management, load demand of the LV area network is decomposed into Non-EV <span>load and EV load. The load on the transformer is managed by varying the EV load in an optimisation objective function which maximises the capacity uti</span>lisation of the transformer subject to operational constraints and non-disruption of daily trips of EV owners. Results show that with the proposed load management technique, LV distribution networks could accommodate high uptake of EVs without compromising the useful normal life expectancy of distribution transformers before the need for capacity reinforcement.展开更多

The reduction of manganese proceeded almost synchronously with the fall in redox potential, while the reduction of iron showed a remarkable lag behind the Eh change. Once formed,the distribution of water-soluble, exchangeable and precipitated forms of ferrous iron was controlled by PH,CEC of the soil and total concentration of the element. For manganous ions, the proportions of water-soluble and exchangeable forms in total Mn(2+) were larger than those for ferrous ions. The reduction of the two elements led to a mobilization of them, and such effect persisted even after drying of the soil, i.e.,the content of amorphous Fe became higher than that of the original soil.展开更多

Due to the high working frequency and the device-switching transitions, the conducted EMI caused by the charging circuit which includes the harmonics of grid frequency, working frequency and device-switching transition frequencies. Thus under certain working situations or loads parallel power supply, the interference may cause charging failure. To solve this problem, a high frequency transformer modeled with stray capacitances and an approximation of the device-switching transition is applied in the Spice-based simulation model, and a mathematical analysis in frequency-domain is presented.展开更多
A compact high-voltage repetitive nanosecond pulse generator(HRNPG)was developed for studying the technology of repetitive nanosecond pulse technology and its related application.The HRNPG mainly consists of a repetit...A compact high-voltage repetitive nanosecond pulse generator(HRNPG)was developed for studying the technology of repetitive nanosecond pulse technology and its related application.The HRNPG mainly consists of a repetitive charging module,a Tesla transformer and a sharpening switch.With its voltage lower than 1 kV,the primary repetitive charging circuit comprises two fast thyristors as its low-voltage switches.The spiral Tesla transformer acts as the main step-up component,and its peak transformation ratio is designed to be more than 100.A self-breakdown spark switch,i.e.the sharpening switch,is used to sharpen the output of the transformer and to generate nanosecond pulses.The HRNPG prototype is capable of generating pulses of 100 kV in peak with rise time 30 ns and the maximum repetition rate of 500 Hz on a 6 k load.Experimental results show,without any magnetic core,the developed Tesla transformer prototype can easily output high voltage while keeping itself small in size and light in weight,which is of significance for the compactness and portability of the pulse generator.The N2-insulated spark switch operated well at voltage close to 100 kV and the repetition rate within several hundreds of hertz.展开更多
