A Content Analysis Study Describing Information Regarding Female Genital Mutilation Present in US Medical Textbooks

This study examines the depth of information regarding Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)/Female Cutting (FC) present in US medical textbooks. According to Klein et al. (2018) [1], despite substantial attention regarding the effects of FGM, this practice is still ongoing all over the world. Healthcare providers are very important actors who need to understand FGM in order to provide care to girls and women subjected to it, but the small amount of existing work in this area shows a low level of knowledge and training about FGM/FC among U.S. physicians. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) first published the estimated number of girls at risk of FGM/FC in the U.S. to be about 168,000 in 1997;that number had increased to 513,000 girls in the US by 2012 (according to Goldberg et al.) In this study, a small sample of medical textbooks were analyzed for the degree to which the textbooks include information regarding FGM/FC. The results of this study show that US medical textbooks do not include information regarding FGM/FC, suggesting that most medical providers don’t have knowledge and training about FGM/FC. The inadequate information on FGM/FC in medical textbooks reflects a culturally biased lack of recognition of the number of girls and women affected in the US. This maintains an ongoing pattern of silence that reinforces gender inequality. Considering the inadequate information covered in US medical textbooks on FGM/FC, and the concordant lack of provider training to provide advice and care to affected girls and women, incorrect and missed diagnoses may lead to harm to victims of FGM/FC. Providers would be better equipped to care for women and girls if their medical training included information regarding FGM/FC.

The Islamic Religion in Course Curriculums of High School History Textbooks in the Republic of Macedonia

History textbooks can and primarily should contribute to the strengthening of students’awareness of universal human values.However,history textbooks can also deepen the divisions,prejudices,and uncritical attitudes,contrary to the goals of education.The youth population,which is still building and creating their point of view towards the world is the main group in the education process.The learning period,in the elementary,as well as in the secondary education is of utmost importance for the development of every human.To that end,history,through the contents of the past largely shapes our perceptions of every individual,ourselves,and the others.Since we are living in a multiethnic and multi-confessional society,I have decided to conduct an analysis of the teaching contents of high school textbooks related to religion.Another reason for the analysis is the role of religion in the formation of Balkan nations,which have made it one of the key elements of their national identities.It is often given the role of raising and strengthening the national awareness,patriotism,as well as the country homogeneity,which most often leads to forming prejudices,divisions,and discrimination towards people of minority religions.The large volume of content related to the religion,and also the mere fact that Muslims are the second largest religion group in the population,I have decided to analyze the contents which are related only to the Islamic religion.The goal is to look for both the positive and negative sides of those contents in history textbooks in secondary schools,which are backed by state institutions that are supposed to take care of the development of competitive,creative,progressive,and ethically formed human potential.The critical review will give an additional impulse to the efforts of eliminating those parts of the teaching contents that create divisions and prejudices,especially in history textbooks,so that its studying can become the key factor in the building of trust between people of different religions.

Exploration and Research on Textbook Quality Evaluation Index System Based on Engineering Major in Higher Education

The report of the Chinese 20th National Congress put forward“strengthening the construction and management of textbooks”for the first time,which indicates the importance of textbook construction and highlights the vital position of textbooks in the overall development of the country.From the perspective of textbook quality,and based on the research and analysis of the policy requirements and current evaluation indicators of higher education textbooks,this paper establishes the textbook quality evaluation index system composed of basic indicators and evaluation indicators.This system is based on the principles of science,comprehensiveness,operability,and target-oriented approach.It provides a relatively scientific,objective,and fair reference system for the management and evaluation of textbooks.

The Existing Problems and Optimization Paths of Digital Textbooks Under Background of Internet

With the rapid development of information technology,the combination of terminal technology,big data and mobile Internet and textbooks has become an irresistible trend in the modern education field.Under the context of the Internet,carrying out education and teaching activities based on digital textbooks can give full play to the rich media,openness and interaction of digital textbooks,broaden students′horizon,enrich students′knowledge,and promote the improvement of students′ability and all-round development.However,in the specific teaching practice,there are also problems such as old compilation ideas,single compilation mode and low efficiency of personalized learning.Therefore,schools and teachers need to constantly innovate the presentation and arrangement of digital textbooks,strengthen technical support,deepen students′understanding of the teaching content of digital textbooks,promote the comprehensive development of students and improve the effectiveness of digital textbook teaching.

Measurement Analysis and Evaluation of Twenty- Five Years of Chinese Mathematics Textbooks: Visual Analysis Based on CiteSpace Knowledge Graph (1999-2024)

At present,textbooks based on core literacy have become the inevitable demands of China’s curriculum reform,and the literacy of textbook goal construction is the key to the implementation of core literacy requirements,which is a huge challenge for textbook compilers.In this paper,we use the visual metrology of the CiteSpace knowledge graph to analyze Chinese mathematics textbooks(1999-2024),hoping to guide the future direction of Chinese mathematics textbook research.

Knowledge Graph Analysis of International Chinese Language Textbooks Based on CiteSpace

Drawing upon relevant papers from Chinese core journals and CSSCI source journals in the CNKI China Academic Journals Full-Text Database spanning from 1992 to 2023,this study utilizes CiteSpace as a research tool to visually analyze the knowledge graph structure of research on international Chinese language textbooks in China.The study maps out the publication timeline,authors,institutions,collaborative networks,and keywords pertaining to research on international Chinese language textbooks.The findings indicate that research on international Chinese language textbooks commenced early and continues to maintain a certain level of research interest,yet lacks sufficient research output.Research institutions predominantly reside in universities and publishing groups specializing in language or education,with collaboration between institutions being relatively scarce.High-frequency keywords in recent research on international Chinese language textbooks include“Chinese language textbooks for the Foreigners,”“Chinese language textbooks,”“Teaching Chinese Language for the Foreigners,”“Textbook compilation,”“International Chinese Language Education and Localization,”which reflect a diversified research perspective with interdisciplinary trends.Future research priorities encompass research on localization,customization of textbooks,and evaluation of textbooks which represent forefront directions of research.

Analysis of textbook outcomes for ampullary carcinoma patients following pancreaticoduodenectomy

BACKGROUND Textbook outcomes(TOs)have been used to assess the quality of surgical treatment for many digestive tumours but not ampullary carcinoma(AC).AIM To discuss the factors associated with achieving a TO and further explore the prognostic value of a TO for AC patients undergoing curative pancreaticoduodenectomy(PD).METHODS Patients who underwent PD at the China National Cancer Center between 1998 and 2020 were identified.A TO was defined by R0 resection,examination of≥12 Lymph nodes,no prolonged hospitalization,no intensive care unit treatment,no postoperative complications,and no 30-day readmission or mortality.Cox regression analysis was used to identify the prognostic value of a TO for overall survival(OS)and recurrence-free survival(RFS).Logistic regression was used to identify predictors of a TO.The rate of a TO and of each indicator were compared in patients who underwent surgery before and after 2010.RESULTS Ultimately,only 24.3%of 272 AC patients achieved a TO.A TO was independently associated with improved OS[hazard ratio(HR):0.443,95%confidence interval(95%CI):0.276-0.711,P=0.001]and RFS(HR:0.379,95%CI:0.228-0.629,P<0.001)in the Cox regression analysis.Factors independently associated with a TO included a year of surgery between 2010 and 2020(OR:4.549,95%CI:2.064-10.028,P<0.001)and N1 stage disease(OR:2.251,95%CI:1.023-4.954,P=0.044).In addition,the TO rate was significantly higher in patients who underwent surgery after 2010(P<0.001)than in those who underwent surgery before 2010.CONCLUSION Only approximately a quarter(24.3%)of AC patients achieved a TO following PD.A TO was independently related to favourable oncological outcomes in AC and should be considered as an outcome measure for the quality of surgery.Further multicentre research is warranted to better elucidate its impact.

In recent years,with the rapid advancement of digital technologies,digitization in vocational education has become a major trend.Among these advancements,digital textbooks have emerged at the forefront of digitization,significantly impacting both their form and content.This article aims to analyze the existing issues in the use of digital textbooks in vocational education and emphasize the importance of recognizing the vital role of teachers in the wave of digital textbook innovation.It is crucial to clarify the role and positioning of teachers to avoid inadvertently diminishing their classroom significance while prioritizing technological innovations.Teachers should fully leverage the role of digital textbooks as tools for organizing classroom activities and recognize the core and essence of classroom teaching as digital technologies enter the scope of vocational education.By doing so,teachers can contribute to the high-quality development of modern vocational education.

职业教育国家规划教材内容特征分析——以财经商贸大类为例

内容是教材的灵魂。采用内容分析法,从教材设计理念、教材结构、教材设计、纸数融合四个维度,对财经商贸大类“十四五”职业教育国家规划教材内容特征进行分析。研究发现:认可能力本位教材设计理念,与标准对接不足;“章—节”式目录结构仍占较大比重,教材内容主题分歧明显;标题式项目、理实叠加现象突出;数字资源以二维码融入微课视频为主,存在不一致、使用率不高问题。据此,提出提升高职专业教学标准适应性、内容描述详尽度和时效性,重视专业核心课程教材的技术理论知识开发,以实践性问题为纽带整合理论与实践知识,结合课程内容特性与学习者需求开发教材配套的数字化资源等优化对策。

新时代高质量数字化教材建设的价值意蕴、基本逻辑和实践路径

新时代高质量数字化教材建设是国家教材体系现代化的应有之义,需要探析其育人价值、人本价值与技术价值,为数字化教材建设提供方向指引。新时代高质量数字化教材建设要坚持以学生“善学”为出发点的目标逻辑、以个性化教学为着眼点的内容逻辑、以技术赋能为着力点的形态逻辑。构建新时代高质量数字化教材就要做到:把握数字化教材建设的时代方位,即包括坚持中国共产党的领导、注重数字素养的培养及贯彻“数字中国”战略;擘画数字化教材建设的未来图景,形成数字化教材与纸质教材互构的内容体系、数字化教材与个性化发展需求互动的服务体系、数字化教材与技术互融的应用体系;完善保障机制,明确数字化教材建设主体间权责关系,健全规章体系,创新管理机制。

大数据时代背景下“地球化学多元统计分析”课程混合式教学改革与实践

“地球化学多元统计分析”是面向地球化学专业本科四年级开设的专业核心课程。在大数据时代背景下,原有的课程教学模式面临内容相对陈旧、课时严重不足、实践操作教学效果不理想等问题。笔者尝试开展了线上线下混合式课程教学改革并实践,包括更新教学内容体系和教材、整合网上教材和教学资源、扩充相关软件的操作训练、理论授课与实验课交叉进行、课堂授课与课后作业有机融合等,同时融入了教学思政内容,教学效果明显提高。

新文科数学课程体系的构建与实施路径

在新文科建设与人才培养视域下,培养新型社会所需优秀文科人才的关键在于不同学科之间的交叉融合,而数学与文科的交叉融合尤为重要。随着社会的发展,文科专业对学生数学能力的要求不断提升,原有的文科数学课程在教学目标、教学内容和教学模式等方面已不能满足新文科专业建设与人才培养的需要。新文科数学课程体系要在融合与守正的平衡中建立新的目标,深入挖掘数学在新文科建设中的价值。在内容上进行更新或重构,在教学模式上紧跟教育数字化转型的步伐,重视数学技术的应用,构建适应新文科建设与发展要求的大学数学课程体系,发挥数学类优质课程与教材在培养高素质文科人才方面的积极作用。因此,在对新文科数学课程体系的构建依据和课程体系的构建理念、体系结构和课程设置进行深入分析的基础上,文章从教学目标、课程内容、新形态文科数学教材开发、数字化资源建设、考核评价模式和保障制度几个方面探讨了新文科大学数学课程体系的实施路径,并在吉林大学进行教学实践,取得了较好的效果。

教科书评价的时代境遇与优化策略

网络空间教科书评议是教科书评价的新议题,对全面落实教材建设国家事权、推进教材高质量发展、建设好人民满意的教材具有积极意义。网络空间教科书评议由公共关切与技术赋权、集体记忆与知识普及、信息虚拟与制度现实多维互动建构而成,是教科书的公共产品属性和评价的情感价值属性共同作用的结果,存在价值主体与评价主体相脱节、理性要求与非理性行为相冲突、网络空间与制度空间相隔离等现实问题,容易形成教科书负面舆情,影响教科书功能的正常发挥。未来,网络空间教科书评议,需要在规制性要素、规范性要素和文化—认知要素三个维度,通过加强制度设计、注重价值引导、实施主体培育,全面提升网络空间教科书评议的公共品质。

中国特色教育学教材体系:价值意蕴、逻辑依循与建构路径

教育学教材是对教育学学科知识的系统阐述,是教育学学科体系、学术体系和话语体系的核心载体。加快构建中国特色教育学教材体系既是学科发展之需,也是时代发展之要。中国特色教育学教材体系建设有其自身内在的逻辑取向,具体表现为坚持马克思主义指导地位,奠定思想根基和根本保证是政治逻辑;凸显育人为本,落实立德树人根本任务是价值逻辑;以文化自信为精神硬核,承担培根铸魂重任是文化逻辑;运用系统观念,推动体系内外诸多环节的有机融合是方法逻辑;遵循守正创新,为教育学教材体系建设注入源头活水是实践逻辑。在着力推进中国教育学“三大体系”建设的进程中,教育学教材体系的建构路径主要包括秉守正确的政治方向和价值取向,明晰教育学教材体系建设目标;加强相关理论研究,筑牢教育学教材体系建设基础;强调中国自主知识体系建构,彰显教育学教材体系建设特色;完善教材建设制度,提升教育学教材体系建设质量。

高职院校印刷媒体技术专业活页式教材开发与建设研究

随着信息技术的高速发展,传统教材已不能满足高职教育人才培养的需要,开发与建设新形态教材势在必行。文章分析并总结了高职院校印刷媒体技术专业教材存在的问题及系列化活页式教材开发的意义。为推动印刷媒体技术专业教材改革,提高印刷媒体技术专业人才培养质量,提出应从活页式教材“系列化”顶层设计、“多元化”组建教材编写团队、“精准化”组织教材内容、“数字化”拓展教材空间及构建活页式教材动态评价和反馈机制等五个方面逐步开展活页式教材的开发与建设。文章探索了校企共同开发与建设活页式教材的路径,为高职院校系列化活页式教材的开发提供参考。

以多元能力为导向的大学英语教材编写实践研究

作为教学内容的主要载体和教学必备工具,大学英语教材直接影响教师如何组织课堂、实施教学,学生加工什么样的输入、进行什么样的产出、培养什么样的能力。为满足新时代培养国际化人才的需求,大学英语教学确立了多元能力培养目标,这些目标应通过教材编写落实在具体的教学内容和活动设计上,从而引导教学实践真正服务于能力培养。本研究以《新未来大学英语》教材为例,探讨以多元能力为导向的大学英语教材的编写,提炼核心原则与策略,以期为教材开发与教学设计提供参考。

“三教”改革下高职电气自动化技术专业活页式教材探索与实践——以“电气控制应用”一体化课程教材开发为例

“电气控制应用”一体化课程是实践性极强的科目,目前该课程所用教材大多存在形式单一、信息化资源配套不丰富、学生参与度低等问题,因此新形态教材的开发与建设显得尤为迫切。本文结合电气自动化技术岗位《电气安装检修工》要求,对接维修电工国家职业技能标准,以校企合作为契机,开发以工作过程为导向的活页式教材,以培养电气自动化技术高素质技能型人才。

我国教材治理现代化的内涵、标准与路径

教材治理现代化就是以现代治理理念优化教材管理权力的运作程序,推动我国教材制度从传统管理范式向现代治理范式转变。推进教材治理现代化是实现课程和教材现代化的关键环节,也是构建高质量教材体系的制度保障。教材治理现代化的衡量标准表现为落实教材建设国家事权,注重过程民主化,形成国家主导下多元共治格局,强调权力运行的制度化和法治化,追求效率、公平与质量并重,达到善治目标。当前我国教材治理现代化水平不断提升,但仍面临着三级教材管理制度下治理主体缺乏协同性、教材治理结构中成熟市场与专业组织发展不足、教材一体化建设中管理机制不完善等问题。推进我国教材治理现代化的有效路径主要有:落实国家事权,构筑教材治理的善治格局;分层分类推进,实现教材治理的多元共治;创新体制机制,探索教材治理的法治路径。

职业教育新形态教材的主要特征、实践审视与开发策略

“教材形态”是教材作为一种教学中介的外在形态与内在形态的表征形式,教材形态变化引领着课程教学的变革,进而影响着教育的高质量发展。职业教育新形态教材具有内容选择的职业情境性、编写体例的工作过程性、知识与技能更新的及时性、学习内容的丰富性和学习环境的可交互性等特征。职业教育新形态教材开发实践中,存在教材定位偏离起点、教材质量参差不齐、开发团队水平不高等问题。职业教育新形态教材的开发策略为:回归培养“完整人”的逻辑起点;完善教材开发团队的运行机制;践行工作过程系统化编写体例;导入学习情境化模块单元。

“理解当代中国”翻译类教材使用研究——以《汉法翻译教程》为例

培养符合时代需求的高水平翻译人才始终是翻译教育领域的核心课题。提升翻译人才培养质量的一个重要途径在于加强教材建设。“理解当代中国”翻译类教材定位明确、理念新颖、设计科学,为翻译教学提供了可靠依据和有力支撑。如何科学使用该系列教材,最大程度地发挥其育人作用,无疑是当下翻译人才培养中应着力探究的问题。本文以《汉法翻译教程》为例,从注重价值引领、把握正确的翻译原则以及注重翻译能力提升、实施分析—探究—互动三位一体式教学等方面对“理解当代中国”翻译类教材的使用展开深入探讨,以期为新时代翻译人才培养提供些许有益的参考。
