On Translation of Children’s Literature Based on Reception Aesthetics:A Case Study of The Secret Garden

Grounded in reader-centered theories,Reception Aesthetics prioritizes the active engagement and acceptance of target readers.This study examines the translation of children’s literature through the lens of Reception Aesthetics,using Li Wenjun’s rendition of The Secret Garden as a case study.The objective is to scrutinize various aspects of the translation-including vocabulary,syntax,rhetorical devices,and cultural nuances-and to discern how the adaptation and application of diverse translation strategies cater to the aesthetic expectations.

Irregular dietary habits as a predictor of stunting occurrence among children under 5 years of age:a literature review

Objective:To identify the illustration of feeding patterns of stunting children using literature review method.Methods:This study was a descriptive narrative research using literature review approach to explore dietary habits of children with stunting problem.All the literature review processes employed Guideline Review measurement of Joanna Briggs Institute.Related ar ticles in literature were obtained from journal databases,such as Pub Med,Science Direct,Google Scholar,and Dimensions through structured research question with Patient,Exposure an interest,Outcome or response(PEO)methods.Results:This study found 2246 published ar ticles from 2018 to 2021 about children with stunting.Screening process was conducted fur ther to eliminate ar ticles with irrelevant titles and abstracts,and also the unsuitable ar ticles with the research question;hence,about 9 ar ticles were eligible to be reviewed ahead.All these ar ticles mentioned that children with irregular dietary habits would likely experience stunting.The low intake of nutritional food became the major predictor of stunting.Conclusions:Inappropriate feeding patterns and the variety of food were being the factors of stunting emergence among children<5 years of age.High consumption of carbohydrates,less animal-based protein,and misunderstanding about intake of sweetenedcondensed milk predisposed children to suffer stunting.

Reflections on Conducting Kindergarten Language Education Activities Based on Children’s Literature

In early childhood education,language education is a crucial component,yet in kindergarten teaching,there often exists issues such as“emphasis on knowledge and neglect of practice.”To address this problem,teachers need to incorporate children’s literature in a reasonable manner to create a conducive environment for language education for young children.This article analyzes and discusses the significance of integrating children’s literature into kindergarten language education activities,and proposes strategies for addressing the current issues in kindergarten language education activities and conducting them based on children’s literature.

Translation Skills of Children’s Literature from the Perspective of Recep tion Theory:A Case Study of Bronze and Sunflower

With the development of society and the prosperity of Chinese literature,as a part of China’s soft power,Chinese chil dren literature is faced with the problem of international dissemination.The English version of Cao Wenxuan’s Bronze and Sunflow er won Hans Christian Andersen Award,the top award of children’s literature,which is a successful example of such dissemina tion.Therefore,the Chinese-English translation skills employed are worth studying.This paper aims to analyze the skills used to in the translation of short clauses,reiterative locution,simile,parallelism and dingzhen from the perspective of reception theory.It is found that by using such translation skills as omission,alliteration,repetition of prepositions and pronouns,and literal translation,the translator preserves and recreates the effect of the original text in ways that are more acceptable and idiomatic for the target reader.

Translation of Children's Literature from the Perspective of Function Equivalence——A Case Study of Chinese Version of Charlotte's Web

Children's literature being a unique type of literary at a peripheral position,it is difficult for translators to reappear itsessence in the target text,due to the diverse cultures and language conventions.Since Functional Equivalence Theory emphasizesthe functional equivalence between ST and TL which provides a new idea and method for literary translation,the thesis makes ananalysis of the Chinese version of Charlotte's Web.This comes from the perspective of Functional Equivalence Theory so as to dis-cusses whether Functional Equivalence Theory is effective in the translation of children's literature,and how has it been em-ployed.The thesis hopes that children's literature will be paid more attention,and the prosperity of children's literature transla-tion will be promoted.

On Children's Literature Translation from the Perspective of Skopos Theory——A Case Study on Harry Potter

The translation of the children's literature,as a branch of literature bears its own distinctive features,which is an attractivefield to study.The flourishing contemporary western translation theories provide new perspectives for the translation studies.Among thetheories,Skopos theory raised by German scholars is unique.It was developed by Hans Vermeer,which has provided theoretical supportfor children's literature translation.The thesis attempts to discuss the translation of children's literature from skopos theory with a casestudy comparing the two Chinese versions of Harry Potter.This paper focuses on whether the two Chinese versions pertain to specificgroup of readers like children and whether they are attractive enough to cater to children by way of choosing simple words,sentences,etc,which underscores that Han's Vermeer skopos theory counts a lot in children's literature translation.By its guidance,the transla-tion of children's literature will arouse more children's interest.

Local Literature in a Global World？ Catalan Literature for Children and Young People

This paper is part of a wider project being carried out by the Research Group Literary Education, Culture and Society, which has been subsidised by the Ministry of University of Spain. Our project＇s main aim is the close study of three closely interrelated phenomena, globalisation, exclusion and multiculturality, in order to determine the influences on the children and young people Literature. We intend in this paper to show the results of a first research made in a smaller corpus in order to better draw up the entire project.

The Use of Children＇s Literature With University English as a Foreign Language Learners in Taiwan

This paper reports findings from a longitudinal qualitative study that investigated the use of children＇s literature for Taiwan Residents University English as a Foreign Language （EFL） students＇ reading. During the course of their sophomore year, 17 students participated and each student held two to seven individual reading sessions, to which they brought a self-selected children＇s picture storybook or children＇s novel they had finished reading on their own and orally read it to the researcher. Their oral reading and the discussion of each book with the researcher were audio recorded. To gain insight into the reading progress, these oral data were categorized and analyzed in terms of mispronunciation patterns, misunderstanding of vocabulary, misinterpretation of sentence or passage, and researcher＇s guidance. General findings of the 17 participants were presented in three categories： （1） vocabulary acquisition, （2） common comprehension problems, and （3） common pronunciation problems. Further analysis of two motivated students who read five to seven books revealed that （1） these two EFL learners gradually developed conscious awareness of their own pronunciation and comprehension errors and （2） they progressively acquired better competence to apply the pronunciation tips and reading comprehension techniques provided by the researcher during previous sessions. These findings and corresponding implications are discussed and further research suggestions are made.

Modem Iranian Literature： The Historical and Present Development of the Short Story Genre

The following article is about the historical overview of the Persian literature and the emergence and development of the short story as a literary genre and its prominent role in the modem literature of Iran. It discusses the origin of the short story in general and preconditions for the popularity of the new genre the Iranian literature of the 20th century, and also about the first successful collection of short stories that introduced it to the public. Also the development process of the short story and principle factors in every stage of its emergence as an independent genre of prose, as well as the thematic range are the main aspects among others to be analyzed in the article. It is historically documented that the Islamic state was established in 1979 after the fall of the Shah. And the very event had big impact not only on the social and political life of the country, but also on the cultural and literary life of the Iranians of the time. The significance of the revolution was such that it divided the literature to be known as the ＂pre-revolution＂ and ＂post-revolution＂ periods. Therefore this article is aimed to observe how this historic event had influenced the short story in particular and the distinct features of the works created during the two periods. The next period which stands out in the development of the short story is during the late 90s and the beginning of the 2000, where the genre experienced aesthetic innovations and experiments with new forms and styles. The distinct feature of the period is mainly in its topics it deals, among other the effects of the globalization and popular culture brought forth, isolated individual, urbanization, climate change and its destructive outcome and the social conflicts resulting from them. Such global issues caused the established writers to look out of their borders and open up to the concerns of the planet, and by doing so establishing new schools of thought and style among the writers of short story in modem Iranian literature. Finally the article will overview the role of the Iranian contemporary female short story writers, children＇s literature and the works of the immigrant Iranian authors that continue the traditions of the Persian literature outside Irma.

Literature Review on The Lion,the Witch and the Wardrobe

The Irish-born British writer Clive Staples Lewis(1898-1963)is not only a literary critic with unique insights and a loy⁃al Christian missionary,but also a popular children’s writer.His The Lion,the Witch and the Wardrobe is a world-famous chil⁃dren’s literature,which is deeply affected by the public.However,the academic researches and explorations on it are still in a state of youth.The dimensions of the domestic researches are single,and most scholars only pay attention to the religious connota⁃tion.Meanwhile,although the foreign studies have a wide range,there are few innovations in the studies.The thesis collates all kinds of literatures on Lewis and his The Lion,the Witch and the Wardrobe to summarize the current research status and provide new dimensions for later studies.

This thesis analyzes and discusses the features of children's book and the possible strategies on translation of children's book.

Histiocytic Necrotizing Lymphadenitis: A Clinical Study of 6 Children and Review

Objective: As a rare cause of fever and lymphadenopathy (especially in the neck) in children, the purpose of this study is to explore the clinical characteristics of histiocytic necrotizing lymphadenitis (HNL) in children and improve the diagnosis and treatment of this disease. Methods: We retrospectively collected the data of 6 pediatric patients with HNL diagnosed by lymph node biopsy from 2012 to 2021 in department of pediatric, the affiliated Changsha Central Hospital, Hengyang Medical School, University of South China, including the clinical characteristics, laboratory examinations, imaging findings and histopathological examinations, treatment and follow-up of the patients and reviewed relevant literature. Results: All the patients were Han girls, with no kinship with each other, and four cases were from rural areas. The age of onset was from 7 to 14 years old, with durations ranged from 1 week to 3 months. All children had cervical lymphadenopathy with tenderness, five cases of fever, two cases of cough, one case of weight loss, four cases of leukopenia, one case of liver impairment, one case of combined bacterial infection of leukocytosis. All children underwent lymph node biopsy and were diagnosed with HNL, four children were treated with anti-infection before diagnosis, two children were treated with steroid therapy after diagnosis, and 1 case of weakened immune function was used immunoglobulin for modulating immunity. All children improved and discharged, and no recurrence was observed until October 2021. Conclusion: In our study, the children with swollen lymph nodes in the neck were accompanied by tenderness and fever as the main clinical manifestations, without specificity. Histopathology and immunohistochemical examination by removing the affected lymph nodes could confirm HNL. Most children had a good prognosis and long-term follow-up were required.

How do Metafictive Fictional Science Picturebooks Introduce Natural Science Knowledge to Children?——Wolves and The Magic School Bus:Inside a Hurricane

This paper explores metafiction’s role in fictional science picturebooks and its resolution of the contradictions between fictional stories and scientific knowledge in existing research by analysing two children’s picturebooks,Wolves(Gravett,2015)and The Magic School Bus(Cole,1995).The paper first identifies both books as metafictive science picturebooks by analysing their content.Secondly,the author analyses the structure of the two picturebooks and exposes that they both have two narrative lines as the composite structure:science knowledge and fictional stories.Thirdly,the article discusses the metafictive elements in Wolves and The Magic School Bus from the content perspectives,which are relevant to“reality”,in order to evaluate how metafiction enhances fictional science picturebooks in supporting children’s learning of science,conveying knowledge to children,and avoiding children’s misunderstanding of fiction and scientific information.

游戏精神是儿童文学的核心审美要素,反映儿童本能心理需求。从纸媒时代到数字媒介时代,儿童文学的创作和传播形式发生巨大转向,其游戏形式与游戏场域发生根本性转换。数字图书实体能够与故事分离,成为阅读游戏的新主体,读者身体亦参与进阅读活动,作为精神游戏的阅读活动被加入实体游戏形式。非线性叙事和自由选择模式让数字图书阅读增加了建构个性化故事的游戏形式。与此同时,传统儿童文学阅读形成的“书与人”的私密阅读空间被打破,数字图书提供了群体交互空间,数字阅读表现出群体性活动特征和社交性活动转向。文本世界与现实世界的界限因数字技术变得模糊,图书元素可通过数字技术呈现于现实世界,现实世界的不确定性经由互动进入文本世界。游戏的结构特性和数字媒介表达形式、内在符号会深刻影响儿童认知和文化生成。数字儿童文学的游戏精神由“出世”的精神幻想转为“入世”的互动乐趣,表现出与数字媒介特性相符的狂欢性、主动性、社交性特征,以及由故事幻想转向世界幻想的新特质。

中国儿童文学知识生产的机制与路径

中国儿童文学的现代化得益于其知识体系的建构。中国儿童文学含纳的知识主要体现在“中国”、“儿童”与“文学”上。三者的知识意涵及权力关系衍生了新的文学框架。从发生学的机理看,现代概念向现代知识的转换开启了中国儿童文学学科化的自主道路。对儿童文学元概念的界定是确立知识范畴、依据和方法的重要途径,这要求突破描述性概念的知识单面化,向着结构与系统的知识场域跃升。学科界分与跨学科构成了知识生产的完整序列,学科界分是跨学科的理论前提,跨学科又促发了新一轮关于学科界分的思考。中国儿童文学与现当代文学的界分要遵循“一体化”与“主体性”辩证的逻辑,在文学史建制的基础上推动百年新文学知识体系的现代化发展。
