Myocarditis in Churg Strauss Syndrome can present in different ways. It has been shown that basic cardiac investigations including echocardiography can be normal even in symptomatic patients. More recently cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has been shown to be more sensitive in its diagnosis. Our case report describes a 45 year old male who presented with palpitations and breathlessness. Echocardiography was normal but cardiac MRI demonstrated abnormalities consistent with Myocarditis. He was treated with Cyclophosphamide and follow up MRI imaging demonstrated complete resolution of these abnormalities which was accompanied by resolution of symptoms. This case therefore supports the use of cardiac MRI in Churg Strauss Syndrome as a sensitive diagnostic tool in and as a means of monitoring response to therapy. It also supports the therapeutic effectiveness of Cyclophosphamide therapy in Churg Strauss related Myocarditis, something that has yet to be assessed on a large scale.展开更多

A 68 years old male immunocompetent, presented to the Emergency Department (ED), with a picture of acute calculous cholecystitis. Upon his presentation, laboratory investigations showed no leukocytosis nor elevation of eosinophils count in blood serum, however, neutrophils count in serum was found to be high (76%, normal range up to 70%), then two days later patient underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy. His final histopathology showed a picture of Eosinophilic Cholecystitis, post-operative detailed history, laboratory test including Antinuclear Antibody (ANA), Antineutrophil cytoplasmic Antibody (ANCA), immunoglobulin, and chest X-ray ruled out the possibility of the systemic disease (EGPA, Churg Strauss syndrome), and confirmed that the eosinophilia was localized to the gallbladder, which caused the picture of acute cholecystitis, and was treated sufficiently with the laparoscopic cholecystectomy.展开更多

The space charge effect is one of the most important issues in the CSNS/RCS, which limits the maximum beam intensity, as well as the maximum beam power. Space charge effects are the main source of emittance growth and beam loss in the RCS. Space charge effects have been studied by simulation for the CSNS/RCS. By optimizing the painting orbit, the optimized painting distribution was obtained. The space charge effects during the acceleration are studied and dangerous resonances, which may induce emktance growth and beam loss, are investigated. The results are an important reference for the design and commissioning of the CSNS/RCS.展开更多
