Fast acquisition of L2C CL codes based on combination of hyper codes and averaging correlation

This paper provides a direct and fast acquisition algorithm of civilian long length（CL） codes in the L2 civil（L2C） signal. The proposed algorithm simultaneously reduces the number of fast Fourier transformation（FFT） correlation through hyper code technique and the amount of points in every FFT correlation by using an averaging correlation method. To validate the proposed acquisition performance, the paper applies this algorithm to the real L2C signal collected by the global positioning system（GPS） L2C intermediate frequency（IF） signal sampler—SIS100L2C. The acquisition results show that the proposed modified algorithm can acquire the code phase accurately with less calculation and its acquisition performance is better than the single hyper code method.

A platform for initial testing of multiple camouflage patterns

The human visual system is still an important factor in military warfare;military personnel receive training on effective search strategies,and camouflage that can effectively conceal objects and personnel is a key component of a successful integrated survivability strategy.Previous methods of camouflage assessment have,amongst others,used psychophysics to generate distinctiveness metrics.However,the population from which the human observers are drawn is often not well defined,or necessarily appropriate.In this experiment we designed a new platform for testing multiple patterns based on a camouflaged object detection task,and investigate whether trained military observers perform better than civilians.We use a two-alternative forced choice paradigm,with participants searching images of woodland for a replica military helmet displaying Olive Green,Multi Terrain Pattern,US Marine Pattern or,as a conspicuous control,UN Peacekeeper Blue.Our data show that there is no difference in detection performance between the two observer groups but that there are clear differences in the effectiveness of the different helmet colour patterns in a temperate woodland environment.We conclude that when tasks involve very short stimulus presentation times,task-specific training has little effect on the success of target detection and thus this paradigm is particularly suitable for robust estimates of camouflage efficacy.

The need analysis of backbone civilian nurses post-oriented education training in China

To learn about the need of post-oriented education training of backbone civilian nurses,and to provide scientific evidence for the promotion of training. Methods The convenience sampling method was performed,and an anonymous survey on 324 nurses who participated in the "backbone civilian nurses training program"from September 2013 to October 2015 was carried out by using self-made questionnaire.Results(1)Among the 324 nurses,12. 04% of them volunteered to participate in the training and 87. 96%were sent by their departments.(2)More than 90% of training contents met their needs.(3)The training methods in demand included theoretical classroom teaching,clinical observation and probation,seminars,clinical management practice,clinical problem discussion and clinical nursing practice(4)The training period suggested by most nurses was about 2 to 4 weeks. Conclusion It is important to strengthen the significance of post-oriented education training and to improve the quality and capacity of civilian through scientific education design and practical training programs.

Did Civilian Granaries Affect Social Stability？ Empirical Evidence from the Qing Dynasty （1817-1856）

Based on historical panel data of social instability, civilian granary and climate shocks in the 17 Provinces of the Qing from 1817 to 1856, this paper examines the correlation between social instability and civilian granary holdings. It shows that the civilian granary system reduced social instability in the Qing Dynasty, while climate shocks raised social instability. Moreover, this paper shows that civilian granaries mitigated the effects of climate shocks on social instability.

Owing to the rather peaceful unifi cation policy of the Third Dynasty of Ur,the old aristocracy enjoyed a variety of political and social rights,playing signifi cant infl uence on the local administrative system at the beginning.In order to strengthen centralization and control,the kings gradually selected and appointed several foreign military officials to balance these old aristocratic networks.As a result,a separate management of military and civilian affairs in the local administrative system of the Third Dynasty of Ur appeared.By counterbalancing military offi cers and civilian offi cials,the political situation of the Third Dynasty of Ur became relatively stable.Nevertheless,the old aristocracy was not exterminated,and the military offi cials slowly became powerful,too.This resulted in a gradual weakening of the king’s rule and eventually led to a collapse of whole dynasty.
