Clothing Sales Forecast Considering Weather Information: An Empirical Study in Brick-and-Mortar Stores by Machine-Learning

Reliable sales forecasts are important to the garment industry. In recent years, the global climate is warming, the weather changes frequently, and clothing sales are affected by weather fluctuations. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether weather data can improve the accuracy of product sales and to establish a corresponding clothing sales forecasting model. This model uses the basic attributes of clothing product data, historical sales data, and weather data. It is based on a random forest, XGB, and GBDT adopting a stacking strategy. We found that weather information is not useful for basic clothing sales forecasts, but it did improve the accuracy of seasonal clothing sales forecasts. The MSE of the dresses, down jackets, and shirts are reduced by 86.03%, 80.14%, and 41.49% on average. In addition, we found that the stacking strategy model outperformed the voting strategy model, with an average MSE reduction of 49.28%. Clothing managers can use this model to forecast their sales when they make sales plans based on weather information. 展开更多

This article explores the rationale behind utilizing both SQL and NoSQL databases, addressing key questions about when each type is preferable. The background emphasizes the importance of selecting the appropriate database technology to meet specific application requirements. The purpose of this research is to provide a comprehensive guide for choosing between SQL and NoSQL databases based on various factors, including workload characteristics, scalability needs, and consistency requirements. To achieve this, we examine different strategies for implementing SQL and NoSQL databases in large-scale distributed applications and systems. The research method involves a comparative analysis of the features, advantages, and limitations of both database types. We specifically focus on scenarios involving read-heavy versus write-heavy systems and the trade-offs between availability and consistency. The results of this research indicate that SQL databases, with their relational structure and ACID compliance, are ideal for applications requiring complex queries and data integrity. In contrast, NoSQL databases, offering schema flexibility and horizontal scalability, are better suited for managing extensive datasets and high-velocity data ingestion. In conclusion, the selection of a database depends on the specific needs of the application. SQL databases are preferred for transactional systems with complex relationships, while NoSQL databases excel in scenarios demanding flexibility and scalability. This approach was selected to unearth pivotal design prerequisites and comprehend the specific challenges these women encounter within the realm of clothing. The utilization of selective sampling facilitated the collection of intricate and valuable insights. A Functional, Expressive, and Aesthetic (FEA) User Needs model was utilized to scrutinize participant feedback. Functional requisites encompass ease of dressing and undressing, accessibility to the prosthetic limb, comfort, mobility with the prosthesis, and appropriate fit. Additionally, participants highlighted various expressive needs, including privacy preservation, modesty, camouflaging disability appearances, maintaining alignment with non-disabled women’s fashion, and considerations about the aesthetic aspects of garments. 展开更多

The assessment of potential health risks posed by formaldehyde in clothing to consumers is of increasing concern worldwide. Because of this, it is necessary to develop an exposure model that can realistically mimic clothes wearing conditions. This study aims to preliminarily develop a health risk assessment model for formaldehyde in clothing, and then to assess the potential health risk posed by formaldehyde in textiles to adults and infants in Vietnam using the model. Finally, this study aims to examine the plausibility of the adopted permissible values for formaldehyde in cloth- ing in Vietnam. In the model, two exposure factors for dermal exposure and overall exposure routes, i.e. sweat type and perspiration area, were considered. The margins of exposure (MOE) were calculated to estimate the health risks from worst case and average exposures. The assessment shows that acute exposure via inhalation can pose health risks to Vietnamese consumers in both cases. In regards to chronic exposure, dermal exposure is about four (for infants) and seven (for adults) times higher than exposure via inhalation, but no risks were found for average exposure. If a MOE of 100 is defined as ‘safe’ used, dermal and total chronic exposure to worst case cause potential risks, whereas no health risks were found for exposure to average case. With the model, the adopted Vietnamese permissible values for formaldehyde in clothing were assessed as not posing a health risk to Vietnamese consumers, hence they are accepted. 展开更多

The climate issue has become an environmental concern for all sectors of the world and the low-carbon economy has thus become a new economic development model to combat climate change.With the development of low-carbon economy era,the textile and clothing industry plays an important role in stabilizing the development of low-carbon economy and society,and China has put forward the development requirements of low-carbon transformation for the textile and clothing industry,and also it has an important strategic value to promote the high-quality development of low-carbon economy and society,and the construction of brands’ core competitiveness is an inevitable choice for clothing brands in the face of the new form of international competition.As a result,the evaluation indicator of clothing brands’ core competitiveness in the low-carbon economy is used to measure the core competitiveness of clothing brands.Based on the corresponding verification results obtained by analytic hierarchy process(AHP) analysis,it can guide the low-carbon development of the clothing industry,thus proposing a more reasonable way to build the core competitiveness of clothing brands.It can promote the low-carbon transformation and upgrading of the clothing industry,effectively increase the market share of clothing brands,and promote the high-quality development of clothing brands. 展开更多

Objective:The consequences of falls in the elderly are severe,ranging from skin abrasion to hip fracture,which is very easy to cause death.Using advanced technology to develop anti-fall clothing that meets the needs of the elderly can play a significant role in protecting the elderly.By reviewing and analyzing the existing literature on the importance of fall protection clothing in reducing falls and protecting the body of the elderly,it is hoped to explore further research that needs improvement.Methods:Guided by the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses,eight related studies were identified through Web of Science,Scopus and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure.The research objects,approaches,material and equipment,protection principle,and survey results are extracted.Results:Two articles verified the fall detection algorithm adopted in the research through experiments,which significantly improved fall detection accuracy.Six papers found that selecting appropriate cushioning materials can effectively reduce the consequences of falls of the elderly through experimental comparative analysis.Finally,three attributes for significant design value are drawn:(1)size and fit;(2)cushioning materials;(3)wearable sensing elements. 展开更多

Due to the lack of long-range association and spatial location information,fine details and accurate boundaries of complex clothing images cannot always be obtained by using the existing deep learning-based methods.This paper presents a convolutional structure with multi-scale fusion to optimize the step of clothing feature extraction and a self-attention module to capture long-range association information.The structure enables the self-attention mechanism to directly participate in the process of information exchange through the down-scaling projection operation of the multi-scale framework.In addition,the improved self-attention module introduces the extraction of 2-dimensional relative position information to make up for its lack of ability to extract spatial position features from clothing images.The experimental results based on the colorful fashion parsing dataset(CFPD)show that the proposed network structure achieves 53.68%mean intersection over union(mIoU)and has better performance on the clothing parsing task. 展开更多

We propose a novel high performance carrier stored trench bipolar transistor(CSTBT)with dual shielding structure(DSS-CSTBT).The proposed DSS-CSTBT features a double trench structure with different trench profiles in the surface,in which a shallow gate trench is shielded by a deep emitter trench and a thick oxide layer under it.Compared with the conventional CSTBT(con-CSTBT),the proposed DSS-CSTBT not only alleviates the negative impact of the shallow gate trench and highly doped CS layer on the breakdown voltage(BV),but also well reduces the gate-collector capacitance CGC,gate charge Q_(G),and turn-off loss E_(OFF)of the device.Furthermore,lower turn-on loss E_(ON)and gate drive loss E_(DR)are also obtained.Simulation results show that with the same CS layer doping concentration N_(CS)=1.5×10^(16)cm^(-3),the BV increases from 1312 V of the con-CSTBT to 1423 V of the proposed DSS-CSTBT with oxide layer thickness under gate(T_(og2))of 1μm.Moreover,compared with the con-CSTBT,the C_(GC)at V_(CE)of 25 V and miller plateau charge(Q_(GC))for the proposed DSS-CSTBT with T_(og2)of 1μm are reduced by 79.4%and 74.3%,respectively.With the VGEincreases from 0 V to 15 V,the total QGfor the proposed DSS-CSTBT with T_(og2)of 1μm is reduced by 49.5%.As a result,at the same on-state voltage drop(V_(CEON))of 1.55 V,the E_(ON)and E_(OFF)are reduced from 20.3 mJ/cm^(2)and 19.3 mJ/cm^(2)for the con-CSTBT to8.2 mJ/cm^(2)and 9.7 mJ/cm^(2)for the proposed DSS-CSTBT with T_(og2)of 1μm,respectively.The proposed DSS-CSTBT not only significantly improves the trade-off relationship between the V_(CEON)and E_(OFF)but also greatly reduces the E_(ON). 展开更多

To understand the influence of the initial release conditions on the separation characteristics of the store and improve it under high Mach number(Ma=4)flight conditions,the overset grid method and the Realizable k−εturbulence model coupled with an equation with six degrees of freedom are used to simulate the store released from the internal bay.The motion trajectory and the attitude angle of the store separation under the conditions of different centroid,velocity,height and control measures are given by the calculated result.Through analysis,the position of the centroid will affect the separation of the store,which needs to be considered in the design.Increasing the launching height is conducive to the separation of the store.If the store has an initial velocity,it can leave the internal bay more quickly and reduce the probability of collision with the wall.Cylindrical rod and slanted aft wall control measures can improve the attitude of the store and make the store fall more smoothly. 展开更多

为减少储粮损失和虫霉等的发生,该文利用自制试验仓及检测系统检测储藏玉米籽粒不同位置的粮温,分析粮堆温度变化及整个粮堆热量的传递过程。试验结果表明,仓外环境温度对粮温影响较大,仓内粮食温度变化与仓外环境温度变化相比较为滞后... 为减少储粮损失和虫霉等的发生,该文利用自制试验仓及检测系统检测储藏玉米籽粒不同位置的粮温,分析粮堆温度变化及整个粮堆热量的传递过程。试验结果表明,仓外环境温度对粮温影响较大,仓内粮食温度变化与仓外环境温度变化相比较为滞后,粮堆第一层2号位置温度在检测周期中一直处于较低状态,温度最高位置出现在第四层12号位置。基于粮堆温度变化分析,该文开展了基于长短时记忆网络(LSTM)算法的玉米籽粒储藏粮温预测研究。结果表明:(1)对比预测值与试验值可知,粮堆第一、二、三、四层测试集的粮温准确率分别为0.62、0.89、0.83、0.79;(2)位于粮堆第二层和第三层的预测结果精度较高,试验仓粮堆底层和顶层温度易受环境温度影响,粮堆热量交换速度快,温度变化迅速,导致第一层和第四层预测结果精度偏低。该研究可为粮食储藏温度预测研究提供新思路。 展开更多

The study investigated business clothing for females that are suitable for effective workplace job performance in Nigeria.It identified fabric characteristics of females’business clothing already used;fabric characteristics needed and deign style preference suitable for females’business clothing for workplace job performance.The study was guided by four research questions and two hypotheses.Population was 4,806 female civil servants in Delta state,Nigeria.Multi-stage sampling technique was utilized to select 136 females.Structured questionnaire was employed to collect data and descriptive statistics and t-test were used for data analysis.Finding showed that cotton,nylon,lacra fabrics,light and medium fabric weight,blue,black,gray,colors,cool texture,rough,smooth surface plain,stripe and flowered design among others were fabric characteristics of business clothing are being used in workplace.But prefer and need cotton,nylon,lacra,light weight,black,blue,gray,brown colours,cool,plain,surface fabrics.Net,organza,heavy weight,white,yellow,toweling fabrics were not preferred.Findings further showed that straight gown,waist flared and gathered gowns,skirt,blouse and suit/jacket,straight,shirt,long sleeves,garment with or without collar,below knee length,peter and convertible collars,among others were highly preferred design styles of clothes.In conclusion,office workers determine what they wear to perform workplace daily jobs promotes self-confidence,comfort,professional worth and productivity.It was recommended that female employees should not downplay appropriate work attires for comfort and organizational productivity to satisfy fashion trends. 展开更多

随着卫星通信网络的发展,基于卫星通信网络实现手机、平板电脑等移动通信设备之间的通信成为研究的热点。由于其采用无线电波进行信号传输,且需要经过多个中继站进行信号的转发和处理,导致存在网络延时大、丢包率高以及信道狭窄等问题... 随着卫星通信网络的发展,基于卫星通信网络实现手机、平板电脑等移动通信设备之间的通信成为研究的热点。由于其采用无线电波进行信号传输,且需要经过多个中继站进行信号的转发和处理,导致存在网络延时大、丢包率高以及信道狭窄等问题。针对文本信息在卫星通信网络下的分发过程存在效率低下、可靠性不高的问题,设计一种基于MQTT(Message Queuing Telemetry Transport)协议的轻量化文本信息分发技术。该技术使用MQTT协议作为消息传输协议,在文本信息分发前对MQTT协议进行主题设计、发布订阅机制设计、设备连接设计以及设备心跳设计,确保设备之间的连通性;在文本信息的分发过程中,设计数据校验加密算法、文本信息轻量化处理方法和离线消息存储机制,保证文本信息分发的安全性、可靠性。实验结果表明:相较于传统的基于JSON数据的文本信息分发技术,该技术在提高文本信息分发效率的同时,可确保信息分发的安全性、完整性和稳定性。 展开更多
