Network coding,which exploits the broadcast nature of wireless medium,is an effective way to improve network performance in wireless multi-hop networks,but the first practical wireless network coding system COPE cannot actively detect a route with more coding opportunities and limit the coding structure within two-hop regions.An on-demand coding-aware routing scheme (OCAR) for wireless Mesh networks is proposed to overcome the limitations specified above by actively detecting a route with more coding opportunities along the entire route rather than within two-hop regions.Utilizing more coding opportunities tends to route multiple flows ‘close to each other’ while avoiding interference requires routing multiple flows ‘away from each other’.OCAR achieves a tradeoff by adopting RC AIA as routing metric in route discovery,which is not only coding-aware but also considers both inter and intra flow interference.Simulation results show that,compared with Ad-hoc on-demand distance vecfor routing (AODV) and AODV+COPE,OCAR can find more coding opportunities,thus effectively increase network throughput,reduce end to end delay and alleviate network congestion. 展开更多

Network coding mechanisms, such as COPE, can improve network throughput effectively in Wireless Mesh Networks(WMN). While the Hybrid Wireless Mesh Protocol(HWMP) is suitable for WMN, its extension with COPE does not provide any added benefits; specifically, HWMP cannot establish paths with more coding opportunities. As a result, the advantages of network coding cannot be exploited sufficiently. This paper proposes improvements upon HWMP with a new, network Coding-Aware routing protocol(CAHWMP) for WMN. In the CAHWMP protocol, we propose a coding criterion based on data streams to devise an algorithm for actively detecting coding opportunities during path discovery. CAHWMP subsequently establishes paths using the codingaware routing metric, which can balance channel resource consumption and the gain due to sharing resources introduced by network coding. Simulation results show that CAHWMP can establish paths with more coding opportunities; as a result, it improves network performance such as network throughput. 展开更多

In this paper, we study transmission of packets with time constraints in cooperative 5G wireless networks. As we know, the packets which are transmitted with large delay become useless and have to be dropped. In order to minimize packet dropping probability, we consider multiple transmission methods and integrate packet scheduling with adaptive network coding method selection. Firstly we introduce queue length to obtain the gain of network. Based on this, we present the dynamic coding-aware routing metric, which can increase potential coding opportunities. Moreover, we propose a distributed packet-aware transmission routing scheme based on the above routing metric, which can discover the available paths timely and efficiently. Simulation results show that the proposed method can reduce average packet dropping probability with lower computational complexity. 展开更多
