The definitions, elements, cate...The pinwheel pattern as a suitable and advantageous alternative for the loading implementation of the pallet loading problem (PLP) is identified after a survey on the loading pattern. The definitions, elements, categories, generating algorithms of the pinwheel pattern are discussed and a uniform symmetric pinwheel notation is proposed. Based on the forming geometry of a pinwheel, the pinwheel structure is analyzed in terms of the innate box ratio, the box/block orientation and the box number by combinatorial and geometrical methods. A revised data set for the PLP with an area ratio range from 1 to 76 and a box ratio range from 1 to 10 is proposed. All pinwheel instances with this data set are calculated, and box ratio range is obtained for each possible pinwheel pattern, which can be found for all non-prime numbers of boxes. And a high box ratio makes an optimal pinwheel pattern more likely appear. Results identify the impact of the above pinwheel pattern and the box ratio on the pallet loading problem.展开更多

The quality of lumber can be significantly enhanced by heat treatment. In this paper,the larch pallet decks samples were heat-treated under the conditions of different time and temperatures. The quantity of water uptake has reduced 16. 8% under the condition of 250 ℃ for 150 min. The resistance of water absorption efficiency increases 165. 34% under the condition of 175 ℃ for 90 min. The anti-shrink efficiency increases 72. 08% under the condition of 250 ℃ for 90min. The results showed that the dimension stability of larch panels can be improved by heat treatment. The condition of 250 ℃ for 180 min is the best heat treating condition to improve the dimension stability.展开更多
Cold-bonded pellets, to which a new type of inorganic binder was applied, were reduced by H2~CO mixtures with different HJCO molar ratios (1:0, 5:2, 1:1, 2:5, and 0:1) under various temperatures (1023, 1123, 1...Cold-bonded pellets, to which a new type of inorganic binder was applied, were reduced by H2~CO mixtures with different HJCO molar ratios (1:0, 5:2, 1:1, 2:5, and 0:1) under various temperatures (1023, 1123, 1223, 1323, and 1423 K) in a daermogravimetric analysis appaxatus. The effects of gas composition, temperature, and binder ratio on the reduction process were studied, and the microstxucture of re- duced pellets was observed by scanning electron microscopy-energy-dispersive spectrometry (SEM-EDS). The SEM-EDS images show that binder particles exist in pellets in two forms, and the form that binder particles completely surround ore particles has a more significant hin- der effect on the reduction. The reduction equilibrium constant, effective diffusion coefficient, and the reaction rate constant were calculated on the basis of the unreacted core model, and the promotion effect of temperature on reduction was further analyzed. The results show that no sintering phenomenon occurred at low temperatures and that the increasing reaction rate constant and high gas diffusion coefficient could main- tain the promotion effect of temperature; however, when the sintering phenomenon occurs at high temperatures, gas diffusion is hindered and the promotion effect is diminished. The contribution of the overaJl equilibrium constant to the promotion effect depends on the gas composition.展开更多
In the smart logistics industry,unmanned forklifts that intelligently identify logistics pallets can improve work efficiency in warehousing and transportation and are better than traditional manual forklifts driven by...In the smart logistics industry,unmanned forklifts that intelligently identify logistics pallets can improve work efficiency in warehousing and transportation and are better than traditional manual forklifts driven by humans.Therefore,they play a critical role in smart warehousing,and semantics segmentation is an effective method to realize the intelligent identification of logistics pallets.However,most current recognition algorithms are ineffective due to the diverse types of pallets,their complex shapes,frequent blockades in production environments,and changing lighting conditions.This paper proposes a novel multi-feature fusion-guided multiscale bidirectional attention(MFMBA)neural network for logistics pallet segmentation.To better predict the foreground category(the pallet)and the background category(the cargo)of a pallet image,our approach extracts three types of features(grayscale,texture,and Hue,Saturation,Value features)and fuses them.The multiscale architecture deals with the problem that the size and shape of the pallet may appear different in the image in the actual,complex environment,which usually makes feature extraction difficult.Our study proposes a multiscale architecture that can extract additional semantic features.Also,since a traditional attention mechanism only assigns attention rights from a single direction,we designed a bidirectional attention mechanism that assigns cross-attention weights to each feature from two directions,horizontally and vertically,significantly improving segmentation.Finally,comparative experimental results show that the precision of the proposed algorithm is 0.53%–8.77%better than that of other methods we compared.展开更多

The application of elastic-plastic fracture mechanics on the pallet of sintering machine is approached in detail for the first time in the present study. The theoretical results were compared with the actual data determined from sintering machine pallet. Results show that good agreement was achieved between the method suggested by the author and the actual data. The basis of determining design of the sintering machine pallet in iron and steel engineering has been provided and it will result in great economic benefits.展开更多
The concept of base isolation for storage racks is still a developing subject and has not been addressed in the recently updated seismic codes for storage racks.The friction pendulum bearing system(FPS)generates a nat...The concept of base isolation for storage racks is still a developing subject and has not been addressed in the recently updated seismic codes for storage racks.The friction pendulum bearing system(FPS)generates a natural period independent of the structure's seismic mass.This property makes FPS an ideal choice for isolating rack structures since merchandise may be placed on the racks in several possible arrangements.The results of a comprehensive parametric study aimed at evaluating the seismic performance of a four-shelf,two-bay selective pallet rack isolated with FPS is presented in this paper.The influence of radius of curvature of the FPS,seismic mass,and mass irregularity on the rack's seismic response is examined.The effect of variation of the coefficient of friction due to axial loading is studied by choosing friction values from two distinct friction characterization studies.The coefficient of friction calculated from these studies shows mild and significant variations,respectively,for the whole range of static axial loads expected on the isolator,and from different pallet mass arrangements considered.The optimum radius of curvature and the appropriate range of friction coefficient,for the defined range of static axial loads,to attain a desirable seismic performance are determined.展开更多
Palletizing robot technology has been applied more and more extensively in logistics automation field.But there are some limitations in the current single-arm palletizing robot that it cannot do effective work in the ...Palletizing robot technology has been applied more and more extensively in logistics automation field.But there are some limitations in the current single-arm palletizing robot that it cannot do effective work in the process of moving back to the taking-end and the mechanical arm has so many freedoms that its control system is relatively complex.Based on the translating cam principle,a novel palletizing robot is designed.The horizontal movement of the palletizing mechanical arm is controlled by changeable outer slides,and the vertical movement is controlled by partitioned up-and-down spindles.To improve palletizing efficiency,the single palletizing mechanical arm is changed into multi-arm.Moreover,to improve its kinematic properties,the acceleration operating performance,joint driving force and palletizing trajectory are optimized through the multi-objective delaminating sequence method.According to the optimization results,the 3D model of the multi-arm palletizing robot is built in Pro/E,and the kinematic simulation is made.The simulation results show that the novel mechanism and optimization parameters are rational and feasible.This novel palletizing robot has the advantages of cam mechanism,so it simplifies the driving mode of palletizing movement and can lower the requirements for controlling system.At the same time,it can increase palletizing efficiency further by adding mechanical arms.展开更多
