Solid-liquid hydrocyclones are mainly used to separate large particles, such as the particles of drilling fluid in petroleum industry, and large mineral particles. Till now the hydrocyclonic separation for fine particles is still a big problem. Basic separation principle of hydrocyclones and experimental research facility are simply introduced. The difficulty of separating fine particle is analyzed. Based on a solid-liquid hydrocyclone used for separating fine particles, relationships of dimensionless pressure characteristic parameters, i.e. Euler number and pressure drop ratio, with several main dimensionless parameters, such as split ratio, swirl number and gas-liquid ratio, were experimentally studied in detail. The research was carried out by using the hydrocyclonic separation experimental rig at the University of Bradford. It is shown that the less the size of particle, the less the value of radius of the balance orbit occupied by the particle, and then the more difficult for the particle to be separated. Experiments indicate that Euler number of the tested hydrocyclone increases with the rise of Reynolds number, split ratio, swirl number and gas-liquid ratio respectively, and the pressure drop ratio falls with the increase of Reynolds number, split ratio and swirl number respectively. It is concluded that the most effective way to decrease the unit energy dissipation of hydrocyclone is to reduce swirl number or gas-liquid ratio of the mixed media. 展开更多

The effects of Sur- face tension, surfactant concentration, foam/solution height ratio and air flow rate on the separation performance were investigated, and the results showed that good en- richments and recoveries can be achieved for bovine serum albumin operated at el- evated pressures. Especially the size of bubbles generated by the stainless steel sparger was smaller at higher pressures which is favorable to the foam separation process. Furthermore, the separation mechanism of bovine serum albumin operated at elevated pressure was also discussed. 展开更多

An experimental study was conducted on the interactions of shock wave/turbulence or laminar boundary layer caused by fin-type protuberance, as the lack of detailed understanding of fluctuating pressure loads inside and outside the laminar or turbulence boundary layer separation region in hypersonic flow. The changes of fluctuating pressure in separation region were focused on in this paper. The study shows that the existence of fin changes flowfiled on the plate significantly. The laminar boundary layer separation occurs earlier and the separation region is more extensive. Similar flow is observed between a couple of measurement points outside the laminar separation region. However, there are significant differences between the flow inside and outside the separation region. The level of fluctuating pressure of laminar boundary layer is smaller than that in turbulent case. Even so, in laminar case, the peak fluctuating pressure still reaches a high level. Therefore, the structural influence (damage and/or early fatigue) of fluctuating pressure loads caused by the laminar boundary layer separation should not be ignored. 展开更多

Using pressure swing adsorption (PSA) technology to purify carbon monoxide (CO) discharged from industrial gases is a high-efficiency and economical method. In this article, a four-bed PSA experiment for CO purification was improved and optimized, in which a set of 120 m^3·h^-1 pilot-scale PSA device was developed to purify CO from industrial tail gases, a set of control systems suitable for industry production was developed, and the influences of the operating parameters on CO purification were investigated. The experimental results indicated that the pilot-scale PSA device could produce qualified product gas and get high CO recovery ratio under optimized conditions. The research may provide reliable fundamental data, for industrial scale utilization of CO, from industrial tail gases, and have strong market competitive power and a broad promoted application prospect. 展开更多

To optimize the design of the separator,the relationship between the performance and structural parameters of separators is studied. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) method is employed to simulate the flow fields and calculate the pressure drop and separation efficiency of air-liquid spiral separators with different structural parameters. The RSM (Reynolds stress model)turbulence model is used to analyze the highly swirling flow fields while the stochastic trajectory model is used to simulate the traces of liquid droplets in the flow field. A simplified calculation formula of pressure drop in spiral structures is obtained by modifying Darcy's equation and verified by experiment. 展开更多

The partial differential equationmodel, including equilibrium and kinetic models, has provided an elementary viewpoint for PSA processes. Usingthe simplest equilibrium models, some influential factors, such as pressurization with product, incomplete purge,beds with dead volume and heat effects, are discussed respectively. With several approximate assumptions i.e.,concentration profile in adsorbent, 'frozen' column, symmetry and heat effects of bed wall, the more complexkinetic models can be simplified to a certain degree at the expense of a limited application. It has also been foundthat the electrical analogue model has great flexibility to handle more realistic PSA processes without any additionalhypothesis. 展开更多

The cyclone separator is an important separation device.This paper presents a new type of embedded two-stage cyclone,which includes a 2 nd-stage cyclone(internal traditional cyclone)with multiple inlets and a 1 st-stage cyclone(outer cylinder)that unifies the 2 nd-stage cyclone inlets into one inlet.The Taguchi experimental method was used to study the two-stage cyclone separator’s inlet area on its performance.Studies have shown that the increase of the 1 st-stage cyclone inlet area and the increase in the number of 2 nd-stage cyclone inlets(N)positively affect reducing the pressure drop and a negative effect on efficiency.It is recommended to use 2 S(the original 1 st-stage cyclone inlet area)of the 1 st-stage cyclone inlet area and 2 N of the 2 nd-stage cyclone inlets when separating fine particles.Compared with a traditional cyclone,the pressure drop is reduced by 1303 Pa,the mass separation efficiency(Eq)is increased by 0.56%,and the number separation efficiency(En)is increased by 2.05%.When separating larger particles,it is recommended to use 2 S of the 1 st-stage cyclone inlet area and 4 N of the 2 nd-stage cyclone inlets.Compared with a traditional cyclone,although Endecreases slightly,the pressure drop is reduced by 3055 Pa,and the Eqis increased by 0.56%.The research results provide new insight into the design of the cyclone. 展开更多

With the high-quality development of urban buildings,higher requirements are come up with for lateral bearing capacity of laterally loaded piles.Consequently,a more accurate analysis to predict the lateral response of the pile within an allowable displacement is an important issue.However,the current p-y curve methods cannot fully take into account the pile-soil interaction,which will lead to a large calculation difference.In this paper,a new analytical p-y curve is established and a finite difference method for determining the lateral response of pile is proposed,which can consider the separation effect of pile-soil interface and the coefficient of circumferential friction resistance.In particular,an analytical expression is developed to determine the compressive soil pressure by dividing the compressive soil pressure into two parts:initial compressive soil pressure and increment of compressive soil pressure.In addition,the relationship between compressive soil pressure and horizontal displacement of the pile is established based on the reasonable assumption.The correctness of the proposed method is verified through four examples.Based on the verified method,a parametric analysis is also conducted to investigate the influences of factors on lateral response of the pile,including internal friction angle,pile length and elastic modulus of pile. 展开更多

The temperature separation was discovered inside the short vortex chamber (H/D = 0.18). Experiments revealed that the highest temperature of the periphery was 465 ℃, and the lowest temperature of the central zone was -45 ℃ (the compressed air was pumped into the chamber at room temperature). The objective of this paper is to proof that this temperature separation effect cannot be explained by conventional heat transfer processes. To explain this phenomenon, the concept of PGEW (Pressure Gradient Elastic Waves) is proposed. PGEW are kind of elastic waves, which operate in compressible fluids with pressure gradients and density fluctuations. The result of PGEW propagation is a heat transfer from area of low pressure to high pressure zone. The physical model of a gas in a strong field of mass forces is proposed to substantiate the PGEW existence. This physical model is intended for the construction of a theory of PGEW. Understanding the processes associated with the PGEW permits the possibility of creating new devices for energy saving and low potential heat utilization, which have unique properties. 展开更多

A new gas-solid separator dedicated to heavy-oil fast pyrolysis process incorporating inertial and centrifugal separation was designed. Gas and typical fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) catalyst particles (with a density of 1500 kg/m3, and a mean diameter of 45.81 p.m) were used in the study. The inlet gas velocity was kept constant at 13.36 m/s, while the solid loading at the inlet ranged from 0 to 700 g/m3. When the exhaust pipe opening was provided with two narrow-width slots near the inlet without baffles, the solid collection efficiency increased with an increasing solid loading at the inlet and was close to 95% along with a decreasing pressure drop. After increasing the secondary separation structure, the separation efficiency greatly improved. By adjusting the diameter of the secondary exhaust pipe, the separation efficiency and pressure drop could be balanced. Under the experimental conditions, when the diameter of the second exhaust pipe was equal to d=100 mm, the pressure drop was lower than 1400 Pa while the separation efficiency could exceed 99.50%; and when the diameter was equal to d=120 mm, the pressure drop was less than 700 Pa, with the separation efficiency reaching over 99.00%. 展开更多

This article outlines the development of downhole monitoring and data transmission technology for separated zone water injection in China.According to the development stages,the principles,operation processes,adaptability and application status of traditional downhole data acquisition method,cable communications and testing technology,cable-controlled downhole parameter real-time monitoring communication method and downhole wireless communication technology are introduced in detail.Problems and challenges of existing technologies in downhole monitoring and data transmission technology are pointed out.According to the production requirement,the future development direction of the downhole monitoring and data transmission technology for separated zone water injection is proposed.For the large number of wells adopting cable measuring and adjustment technology,the key is to realize the digitalization of downhole plug.For the key monitoring wells,cable-controlled communication technology needs to be improved,and downhole monitoring and data transmission technology based on composite coiled tubing needs to be developed to make the operation more convenient and reliable.For large-scale application in oil fields,downhole wireless communication technology should be developed to realize automation of measurement and adjustment.In line with ground mobile communication network,a digital communication network covering the control center,water distribution station and oil reservoir should be built quickly to provide technical support for the digitization of reservoir development. 展开更多

This study focused on CO<sub>2</sub> separation technology with adsorption. This paper describes the analysis carried out by a CO<sub>2</sub> pressure swing adsorption simulation to scale up the absorber. An unsteady one-dimensional balance model was constructed by considering the material, energy, and momentum. In the CO<sub>2</sub> breakthrough test, the beginning time and CO<sub>2</sub> concentration at outlet of CO<sub>2</sub> breakthrough in the calculation were almost equivalent to that of experiment results. The correlation consistency of the calculation results with the analysis model and the experimental results obtained by a bench scale experiment was evaluated. The transport phenomena in the adsorber were investigated at the adsorption, rinse, and desorption steps according to the calculation results. The starting time of CO<sub>2</sub> breakthrough obtained by the analysis is equal to that obtained by the adsorption breakthrough experiment. This confirms that the CO<sub>2</sub> adsorption, and the temperature and velocity distribution in the adsorber, change as a function of the adsorption, rinse, and desorption steps, respectively. Additionally, the CO<sub>2</sub> concentration of the captured gas and the amount of CO<sub>2</sub> quantity were 93.4% per day and 2.9 ton/day, respectively. These values are equal to those obtained by the bench scale experiment. 展开更多

The infrastructure undergoes strong settlement that can be due to several phenomena of consolidation of the soils. The latter results from the dissipation of the excess pore pressure and deformation of the solid skeleton. Terzaghi theory led to the equation modeling the dissipation of excess pore pressure. The objective of this study is to establish solutions, by analytical and numerical method, of the equation of the pore water pressure. We considered a compressible saturated soil layer, between two drainage areas and subjected to a uniform load. Separation of variables is used to obtain an analytical solution and the finite element method for the numerical solution. The results obtained by the finite element method have validated those of analytical resolution. 展开更多

针对高超声速试验模型整体式整流罩的反推火箭拔罩分离问题,开展了反推火箭喷流模拟方法和风洞测力试验装置设计研究,试验模拟了马赫数5、动压33 kPa时整流罩反推喷流干扰效应和分离距离影响,获得了反推喷流和分离距离影响下的整流罩气... 针对高超声速试验模型整体式整流罩的反推火箭拔罩分离问题,开展了反推火箭喷流模拟方法和风洞测力试验装置设计研究,试验模拟了马赫数5、动压33 kPa时整流罩反推喷流干扰效应和分离距离影响,获得了反推喷流和分离距离影响下的整流罩气动特性。试验研究表明:反推火箭拔罩分离过程中,喷流干扰作用主导了整流罩的气动特性,使得法向力系数、轴向力系数和俯仰力矩系数分别出现了44.5%、32.4%和198.6%的最大变化量;在负迎角下,整流罩压心前移显著,使得静稳定设计的整流罩呈现出静不稳定性,不利于整流罩安全分离;分离距离越大,分离距离变化对整流罩气动特性的影响越弱;将分离初始迎角限定为小的正迎角,整流罩在分离过程中容易保持姿态稳定,有利于整流罩安全分离。 展开更多

为了解决CO_(2)分注井节流压差建立困难,气嘴易冲蚀的技术难题,通过构建CO_(2)物性变化的流动-传热耦合模型,揭示2级和3级节流气嘴的流场演化机制,优化设计气嘴结构、建立了绕流气嘴节流图版并开展现场应用。结果表明:流量为10 m3/d时,... 为了解决CO_(2)分注井节流压差建立困难,气嘴易冲蚀的技术难题,通过构建CO_(2)物性变化的流动-传热耦合模型,揭示2级和3级节流气嘴的流场演化机制,优化设计气嘴结构、建立了绕流气嘴节流图版并开展现场应用。结果表明:流量为10 m3/d时,2级嘴径1.4 mm和3级嘴径1.6 mm的绕流气嘴分别能产生将近6 MPa和8 MPa的节流压差,证明绕流气嘴结构合理、性能可靠、能够达到调整层间压差的技术要求;参照气嘴图版优选的节流气嘴,现场应用20口井,节流压差可达4 MPa左右,调整后注入压力上升2.4 MPa,加强层相对吸气比例由9.7%上升至50.7%,有效调整了层间差异,解决了分注井小层吸气不均的问题。研究结果指导现场测调,为CO_(2)分注规模化应用提供技术支撑。 展开更多
