A Study of Learning Strategies on the Internet-Based College English Self-Study Platform

The learning strategy is one of the important inner factors that may affect the students＇ self-study. And the self-study ability is more and more emphasized. The Foreign Department of Harbin Engineering University has put the the Internet-based self-study platform in use among the Chen Geng class for years. Based on the observation of the using condition of the platform and the results from a survey, this paper will analyze the influence of the learning strategies after the use of the platform, and at the same time, some suggestions will be provided for the teachers to help students have a better command of learning strategies. As proved by the data, for the college English education in all Chinese universities, it is both a trend and a necessity to cultivate the self-study ability of students through the Internet-based platform.

The Design of Interactive Teaching Model for College English Course in Web-based Span

Traditional college English teaching model centered on grammar and words teaching. However, information technology brings about a reformation in college English teaching model. According to constructivism, language teaching requires plenty of raw materials and practice in real life. Web could serve as a tool for language learners to collect raw materials and a channel to communicate efficiently. Combined with web resources and technology, in the model of web-based interactive teaching model, teachers and students could interact with each other through various access, which will not only stimulate students＇ learning interest, but also raise learning efficiency.

Research and building of optimization measures of college English teaching

more and more people recognize the speed and level of development of a university depends not only on the level of the school of thought and teacher but also on the laboratory construction and management level. Over the years many famous scholars and experts from many aspects and multidimensional perspective discusses the role and importance of laboratory work and practice of education and teaching, practice shows that： the degree of awareness and attention to a university laboratory construction and practice teaching in a sense reflects the understanding of the university personnel training and higher education. In the past, ＂focus on the theory and lighten the practice,＂ the idea has far-reaching impact, now we want to change old ideas; this is because in today＇ s quality education, construction, laboratory and practical education reform teaching content and methods are a part of education reform. We attach great importance to the English school laboratory building. In the new campus, the school has invested heavily to build five advanced equipment, it is a leading English Autonomous Learning Center. Independent Learning Centre is to stimulate students ＇interest in learning, develop students＇ ability to multi-faceted, full use modern teaching equipment to improve English skills platform of independent centers of learning effect.

The Construction of Micro-Environment in the College English Learning Based on the Rogers＇ Humanistic Teaching Theory

A small English class can be called as a micro-environment for English study. In this small micro-environment, the relationship between teachers and students is subtle. How to achieve the good interaction and create a good micro-environment in English class between teachers and students is very important for developing students＇ learning ability. This thesis is based on Rogers＇ humanistic teaching theory, which uses questionnaires, inteview and comparative analysis to analyze the current situation of micro-environment in college English learning. It discusses the construction of micro-environment in college English learning based on Rogers＇ humanistic teaching theory and the ways to construct it from software conditions （roles of teachers and students, relationship between teachers and students, the classroom atmosphere） and hardware conditions（teaching resources, a classroom）.

Analysis of life-based teaching pattern towards college English

No longer limited to the classroom, English teaching is now using a more open teaching mode. As teachers, we want to use every opportunity to help students broaden environment for English learning and using, trying to find a life-based teaching pattern that using is learning and learning is using. As a result, English teaching can integrated with real-life, creating the live-based teaching atmosphere for students to immerse them. The pattern encourages students to subtly become infected with classroom English teaching which built by the concept of life, combining innovative spirit and practical ability and truly reflects the communicative function in English when students come to the society.

The application of APP （application programs） in college English listening teaching

Chinese college students have some drawbacks in English learning and mastering. Through a dozen years of English learning, some of them have high ability of passing examinations, but the practical application ability is barely satisfactory with relatively poor listening level and oral expression ability. The objective cause for this situation is the relatively single and stylization English teaching model used by traditional colleges and universities. This model only emphasizes learning on class which greatly harms students＇ English learning enthusiasm and initiatives. The result is that although the students passed CET4 and CET6 long time before their graduation, they still not dare to open their mouth to speaking concerning face to face English communications. Over the years, the researches on how to improve college students＇ English application ability never stop and they did obtain some achievements and show some opportunities, for example, if we can bring APP （application programs） into college English listening class, it will largely meet students requirements on English learning and this can also replenish and perfect traditional English teaching model.

On the Application of Generative AI in College English

With the rapid advancement of AI technology,especially the emergence of generative AI such as ChatGPT and ERNIE Bot,the field of education is undergoing profound changes.While they change the way information is obtained and processed,these AI technologies challenge traditional teaching models.Based on evaluating the feasibility of various generative AI tools for teaching and comparing their respective advantages and disadvantages,this paper delves into the application scenarios of these generative AI tools in English reading,writing,and translation,and explores their specific applications in the pre-class,in-class,and post-class parts of“College English Reading,Writing,and Translation”.It is hoped that through innovative teaching methods,both students’learning effectiveness and teachers’teaching efficiency can be improved.At the same time,it is crucial to guide students in recognizing the misinformation and biases that exist in generative AI,while emphasizing the significance of originality and intellectual property.Moreover,their critical thinking skills and proper academic concepts could be cultivated and help them prevent academic misconduct.

The Essence and Implementation of Ideological and Political Education within College English Curricula: A Grounded Theory Analysis

This study adopts the grounded theory approach to critically examine the essence and implementation of Ideological and Political Education(IPE)within college English curricula at Chinese Universities.We analyzed a corpus of 80 award-winning lesson plans from the“Teaching Star Competition”held by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press to establish specific constituents that comprise IPE and identify the instructional methodologies incorporated in the teaching process.The research shows that IPE strategically merges language proficiency training with civic education,aiming to cultivate a strong national identity,solid cultural pride,and global competencies.To be more detailed,the core categories of IPE encapsulate critical thinking,professional ethics,and cross-cultural communication skills,which are based on the innovative use of technological resources and adaptive pedagogical strategies.IPE has also elaborated on the comprehensive assessment mechanisms to measure cognitive and affective outcomes,making it a multidimensional activity.Following a three-stage coding process,this study aims to contribute to this discussion regarding ideological and political education integrated into Chinese higher education institutions.The finding and conclusion in this study drawn for future curriculum developments and reformulation of educational policy suggest ways IPE could better serve in fostering well-rounded individuals capable of contributing to national and global contexts.
