The teaching of pragmatic knowledge is as important as those grammatical rules.It is very critical for a successful communication.An increasingly large number of English language teachers who possess a special interest in pragmatics begin to adopt the pragmatic teaching which aims at promoting students'communicative competence.In order to improve students' communicative ability,teachers must pay attention to the importance of pragmatics in teaching process.Only in this way can college students be trained to use language correctly and properly.

Study on PAD and flipped Classroom Applied to College English Teaching--Take College English Viewing,Listening and Speaking Ⅰ For Instance

PAD(presentation,assimilation and discussion) and flipped classroom mix the advantages of PAD and flipped classroom,PADand flipped classroom separate the period of a teacher's teaching and students' interaction,allowing students to assimilate the knowl-edge they learned in one week,this teaching mode considers different groups of students.A result of a recent teaching experiment showsthat this teaching mode can allocate class time more efficiently and equally to each student to practise oral English.Students are moreconfident,more willing to participate and show more interest in oral class.

Analysis of Pragmatic Failure and College English Teaching

This article uses a lot of evidences to expose the pragmatic failures in people＇s inter-cultural communication, and analyses the types and causes of these pragmatic failures. Hence it puts forward several methods of college English teaching to help our students get rid of such pragmatic failures.

Study on the Correlation between Teaching Effectiveness and Task-based Teaching Method in College English Listening and Speaking

Teaching effectiveness has been discussed widely both in the theoretical studies and the practical teaching contexts. Teachingeffectiveness as a general teaching concept should be manifested based on a practical method. This study begins with the analysesof the effectiveness of English listening and speaking class and the task-based teaching method. It focuses on probing the positivecorrelation between teaching effectiveness and task-based teaching model in College English listening and speaking class. Throughanalyzing and comparing the important indicators of teaching effectiveness and task-based teaching model, the favorablecorrelation between the two can be verified. In conclusion, a few important factors of designing and conducting tasks in Englishlistening and speaking class are highlighted in order to substantially guarantee and enhance teaching effectiveness.

Based on Multimedia and Network Social Environment--A study of Pragmatic Acquisition in College English Teaching

A Possible Approach to Introduce Word Memorizing Methods into College English Teaching

Words acquisition should be the most decisive and basic part, though modern English education does not take enough attention, especially in college English teaching. A recent survey on the Internet reveals that college students are worrying about their words power very much, eager to find an efficient and effective way. An Empirical Study on the 1 ＋ 1 Model in College English Listening and Speaking Class

Improving college students＇ listening and speaking ability is a very important part of college English teaching Based on the foreign and domestic studies on how to improve students＇ listening and speaking ability, this paper explores the 1 ＋ 1 model in listening and speaking class, which is to divide the listening and speaking class into two parts--small speaking class combined with students＇ online autonomous learning. Through one-year experiment and study on two classes, although there is no significant difference between the performances of these classes, this study has shed some light on how to vary the teaching methods, how to improve the class efficiency, students＇ autonomy in leaming, and how to build new assessment system. Further studies could be made later based on this

A Study and Evaluation of CET-SET for Chinese College Students

Having been implemented since the year 1987, College English Test(CET) is now a national English test used to measure college students' English language competence and promote English language teaching and learning in classrooms. And later in 1999 national CTE committee launched College English Test-Spoken English Test(CET-SET) and started to include speaking as one part but not a compulsory part of this assessment. Now still only a small group of candidates can take CET- SET,which suggested by many researchers could bring harmful backwash to classroom teaching. Therefore, this paper presents a study and evaluation of CET-SET for college students in China. It mainly divides into four parts. Part one gives an introduction about the teaching contexts of college students and their needs for English study. Part two discusses the harmful backwash from CET as well as the reasons and needs to introduce and recommend CET-SET. The third part sheds light on the strengths of CETSET including its beneficial backwash, the test format and the scoring system. The last part talks about its weakness and provide some suggestions and modifications.
