BACKGROUND Dementia is a severe neurological and psychological disease that occurs in older adults worldwide.The knowledge and attitude of medical-vocational college students play an important role in supporting prima...BACKGROUND Dementia is a severe neurological and psychological disease that occurs in older adults worldwide.The knowledge and attitude of medical-vocational college students play an important role in supporting primary healthcare systems.AIM To investigate the level of knowledge,contact experience,and attitudes toward dementia among medical-vocational college students in China.METHODS A cross-sectional survey was conducted,and 3-year medical and medical-related students from eight vocational colleges in Anhui province were recruited.The contact experience,attitudes,and knowledge level of students toward dementia were assessed using a questionnaire designed according to the Chinese version of the Alzheimer’s Disease Knowledge Scale(ADKS).RESULTS A total of 2444 medical and medical-related students completed the survey,of whom 86.7% of respondents had interests and concerns regarding Alzheimer’s disease(AD),and 29.2% of respondents had experiences of contact with dementia patients.Overall attitudes toward dementia were negative.Only 35.4% of students were interested in participating in the caregiving of dementia patients.The mean score of students’ knowledge about AD as assessed by the ADKS was 21.16(standard deviation,3.43) out of 30.CONCLUSION Dementia-related knowledge of medical-vocational college students was at a medium level,and their overall attitudes toward dementia were negative.展开更多

A primary finding is that most college students accept Chinglish as legitimate communication, considering it to be 1) a tool to energize or vivify the social atmosphere, and 2) a source of catchwords and phrases specifically employed in communication with friends. Despite their acceptance and use of Chinglish, the questionnaire reveals, also,that college students lack linguistic understanding of Chinglish and are unaware of how it may interfere with acquisition of correct English. BACKGROUND Breast cancer has the highest incidence of all global cancers.Recent data show that breast cancer is becoming more prevalent in the younger population.Therefore,preventing breast cancer in young populations...BACKGROUND Breast cancer has the highest incidence of all global cancers.Recent data show that breast cancer is becoming more prevalent in the younger population.Therefore,preventing breast cancer in young populations is a significant priority for public health.Relevant investigations of the incidence of breast cancer in young females have already been undertaken in China;however,none of these previous studies investigated the awareness of female college students with regards to breast cancer.AIM To investigate the knowledge,attitude,and practice(KAP)of female college students in Yunnan with regards to breast cancer and a series of influential factors.METHODS A random sample of 1387 female college students from two universities in Dali city were investigated by questionnaires.RESULTS The total KAP scores for breast cancer were 9.86±2.50,3.19±2.01 and 13.31±2.49,respectively.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that educational grade was the most significant influential factor underlying the level of knowledge female college students had with regards to the treatment of breast cancer(P<0.05).Registered residence and educational grade were the most significant factors that influenced attitude(P<0.05).Age,registered residence,grade and major,were the most significant factors that influenced behavior(P<0.05).The KAP of female college students in western Yunnan with regards to breast cancer were low.CONCLUSION There is an urgent need to provide standardized publicity and educational strategies in China to improve the knowledge,attitude,and practice,of college students with regards to breast cancer.展开更多
As a sustainable mode of travel,carpooling is an effective solution to environmental and energy problems,but it has not been fully utilized.The research on carpooling attitudes,especially for college students,still ne...As a sustainable mode of travel,carpooling is an effective solution to environmental and energy problems,but it has not been fully utilized.The research on carpooling attitudes,especially for college students,still needs to be improved.In response to this problem,this paper aims to investigate the effect of personal attributes,travel attributes,attitude attributes and other attributes of students on carpooling attitudes in China.To collect the data,an online questionnaire survey was implemented at Shenzhen University,and 514 students participated.Based on the samples,the multinomial logit model is used to explore the contribution of all variables.The model results showed that personal attributes such as sex and age had no significant effect on the attitude of college students towards carpooling.The safety of carpooling and its high cost make college students have a neutral attitude towards it.The most concerning factor for college students in carpooling is comfort.These findings can provide valuable suggestions for measures to be taken in response to different attributes affecting students’attitudes and are particularly important for the university and government to make optimal decisions to motivate students to select carpooling.展开更多
Objective:In order to carry out proper education and intervention of AIDS based on different features and demands of different majors,this study aimed to compare the difference of college students from six majors in C...Objective:In order to carry out proper education and intervention of AIDS based on different features and demands of different majors,this study aimed to compare the difference of college students from six majors in China in the aspects of AIDS-related knowledge,attitudes and behaviors.Methods:A questionnaire survey was carried out among 18,644 students in 30 colleges/universities from 9 provinces of China,who were recruited through stratified cluster sampling.AIDS-related knowledge,attitude,condom-use intention,self-efficacy and sexual behavior of these students were investigated.Results:AIDS-related knowledge level of students majoring in education was the lowest while that of medical students was the highest as well as highest self-efficacy of condom use.Students of music or fine arts had the strongest intention to use condoms,while the students majoring in education had the weakest.The sexually active percentages of male students from different majors ranked as follows:music or fine arts(29.5%),minority nationality(12.2%),science&tech(10.9%),medicine(10.6%),educationmajor(10.0%),and liberal arts(8.2%).Among female students,the rank was music or fine arts(11.0%),science&tech(6.2%),education-major school(4.5%),minority nationality(4.5%),liberal arts(4.1%),and medicine(2.8%).Conclusion:It is urgent to enhance proper AIDS-related education and intervention based on the features and demands of students from different majors or universities,for example,to enhance comprehensive AIDS prevention education among students major in education and to increase behavioral skills to prevent sexually transmitted diseases among students from colleges or faculty of music or fine arts.展开更多
Objective:To understand the current situation of college students'knowledge,cognitive attitude and behavior(KAP)towards the prevention and control of Corona Virus Disease 2019(Corona Virus Disease 2019,COVID-19)du...Objective:To understand the current situation of college students'knowledge,cognitive attitude and behavior(KAP)towards the prevention and control of Corona Virus Disease 2019(Corona Virus Disease 2019,COVID-19)during the epidemic,so as to provide theoretical basis for college students'resumption of study and campus prevention and control.Methods:A questionnaire survey was conducted among 16,410 college students by using the convenient sampling method of,One-Way ANOVA and Logistic regression analysis of the survey data.Results:The total awareness rate of college students on COVID-19 was 85%,the average knowledge score was(70.4±10.0),and the proportion of high cognition was 74.5%.The average attitude score of college students was(3.78±0.55),and only 3.9%of them held a positive attitude.The average score of college students'protective behaviors was(19.35±1.69),and 48.8%of them took good protective behaviors.Binary logistic regression analysis showed that the proportion of students with high cognition who adopt good protective behaviors is higher than that of students with low cognition(95%CI:0.621-0.752).The proportion of students with a positive attitude to adopt good behaviors was higher than that with a negative attitude(95%CI:1.398-2.009),Spearman rank correlation analysis results showed that there was a weak positive correlation between cognition and attitude(r=0.056,P<0.05),and a weak positive correlation between cognition and behavior(r=0.118,P<0.05),and a weak positive correlation between attitude and behavior(r=0.038,P<0.05).Conclusion:College students have a good overall cognition of COVID-19,but their attitudes and protective behaviors need to be further improved.Therefore,knowledge education,behavioral intervention and psychological counseling on COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control among college students should be strengthened to improve their prevention and control ability and physical quality.展开更多
