In this paper, we design a semantic communications approach based on multi-user semantic fusion for wireless image transmission over DBC. The transmitter extracts semantic features for two users separately and then effectively fuses them for broadcasting by leveraging semantic similarity. Unlike traditional allocation of time, power, or bandwidth, the semantic fusion scheme can dynamically control the weight of the semantic features of the two users to balance their performance. Considering the different channel state information(CSI) of both users over DBC,a DBC-Aware method is developed that embeds the CSI of both users into the joint source-channel coding encoder and fusion module to adapt to the channel.Experimental results show that the proposed system outperforms the traditional broadcasting schemes.展开更多
In this paper,a new filtering fusion problem is studied for nonlinear cyber-physical systems under errorvariance constraints and denial-of-service attacks.To prevent data collision and reduce communication cost,the st...In this paper,a new filtering fusion problem is studied for nonlinear cyber-physical systems under errorvariance constraints and denial-of-service attacks.To prevent data collision and reduce communication cost,the stochastic communication protocol is adopted in the sensor-to-filter channels to regulate the transmission order of sensors.Each sensor is allowed to enter the network according to the transmission priority decided by a set of independent and identicallydistributed random variables.From the defenders’view,the occurrence of the denial-of-service attack is governed by the randomly Bernoulli-distributed sequence.At the local filtering stage,a set of variance-constrained local filters are designed where the upper bounds(on the filtering error covariances)are first acquired and later minimized by appropriately designing filter parameters.At the fusion stage,all local estimates and error covariances are combined to develop a variance-constrained fusion estimator under the federated fusion rule.Furthermore,the performance of the fusion estimator is examined by studying the boundedness of the fused error covariance.A simulation example is finally presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed fusion estimator.展开更多

This paper reports a five-year computer-mediated intercultural exchange project between Chinese and American university students that explores the use of various social media tools with WeChat application as the main ...This paper reports a five-year computer-mediated intercultural exchange project between Chinese and American university students that explores the use of various social media tools with WeChat application as the main medium in collaborative intercultural assignments. The study combines quantitative and qualitative approaches by using questionnaires and action research, to investigate how Chinese EFL and American CFL learners increase their intercultural communication competence by assessing their knowledge, awareness, attitudes, and skills of discovery and awareness. The findings reveal their changes and progress in the following variables: knowledge about the variety and subtlety of both the home and target cultures, a different worldview, and cultural study methods;awareness of the importance of differences and similarities between the home and target cultures, their negative reactions to these differences(e.g., fear, ridicule, disgust, feeling of superiority, etc.) and therefore, critical evaluation of the target and home cultures;attitudes from excitement or blind admiration of the target culture to confusion, anxiety or frustration about the cultural differences, later to toleration and appreciation of cultural differences, adaptation to the target culture, and eventually to openness and readiness to suspend disbelief about other cultures and belief about one’s own;skills to contrast the target culture with their own, to demonstrate a capacity to interact appropriately in a variety of different social situations in the target culture and resolve cross-cultural conflicts and misunderstandings. This research will serve as a valuable reference for computer-mediated intercultural communication teaching and open up new possibilities to extend classroom teaching by bridging the gap between second-hand knowledge and hands-on experience.展开更多
The tracing of historical origins and disciplinary trajectories enables us to reveal that international communication,as a specific manifestation of global information flow and media evolution,is primarily influenced ...The tracing of historical origins and disciplinary trajectories enables us to reveal that international communication,as a specific manifestation of global information flow and media evolution,is primarily influenced by the interplay of three societal factors:the roots of political conflicts,the catalytic role of economic and technological developments,and the reshaping of values into distinct blocs.These factors intertwine with the awareness of external exploration across different historical periods.Traditional knowledge production in international communication has evolved along two main lines:political economy and cultural studies.These paths have given rise to three major paradigmspropaganda,global communication,and intercultural communicationeach stemming from differing core units of analysis.Together,they have constructed a multifaceted interpretive framework for understanding self-identity and the relationship between self and the external world in the information age since the beginning of the 20th century.This paper argues that on the new journey in the new era,efforts should be made to weaken the attributes of hierarchical control and power conflict derived from the practices of Western industrial societies and the Cold War.In the context of an era marked by the fusion ofnew subjects,new networks,new media,and new values,"there is a need to return to the original purpose of communication:the sharing of information and the collective responsibility it entails.This will enable the construction of a new paradigm driven by Chinese modernization for the exchange and mutual learning of civilizations.Such a paradigm aims to unify humanity around shared values,foster the building of a human community with a shared future,and create new forms ofhuman advancement.展开更多

It shows the place and role of IR in communication with the general market, and the stock excha...This paper focuses on investor relations (IR) as an element of companies' communication with the external environment. It shows the place and role of IR in communication with the general market, and the stock exchange market in particular. The study is illustrated with an example of IR in Poland, a relatively new European Union (EU) member state and an emerging market. As can be seen, IR goes beyond the traditionally understood maintenance of communication with the capital market. It is also shown that the main role of IR ought to be the reduction of investment risk and enhancement of the companies' value, which is of particular significance in light of the current globalization of capital markets. It has been found that Polish companies, especially those listed on the Warsaw Securities Exchange (WSE), commonly rely on IR as a means of communication with the environment. And yet, as the results of the analysis show, the quality of that communication is still far from satisfactory, despite efforts undertaken by various external entities to encourage more focus on the development of IR, or understanding of the company's relevant staff of its important role.展开更多

Target signal acquisition and detection based on sonar images is a challenging task due to the complex underwater environment.In order to solve the problem that some semantic information in sonar images is lost and mo...Target signal acquisition and detection based on sonar images is a challenging task due to the complex underwater environment.In order to solve the problem that some semantic information in sonar images is lost and model detection performance is degraded due to the complex imaging environment,we proposed a more effective and robust target detection framework based on deep learning,which can make full use of the acoustic shadow information in the forward-looking sonar images to assist underwater target detection.Firstly,the weighted box fusion method is adopted to generate a fusion box by weighted fusion of prediction boxes with high confidence,so as to obtain accurate acoustic shadow boxes.Further,the acoustic shadow box is cut down to get the feature map containing the acoustic shadow information,and then the acoustic shadow feature map and the target information feature map are adaptively fused to make full use of the acoustic shadow feature information.In addition,we introduce a threshold processing module to improve the attention of the model to important feature information.Through the underwater sonar dataset provided by Pengcheng Laboratory,the proposed method improved the average accuracy by 3.14%at the IoU threshold of 0.7,which is better than the current traditional target detection model.展开更多
In a cellular network,direct Device-to-Device(D2D)communication enhances Quality of Service(QoS)in terms of coverage,throughput and amount of power consumed.Since theD2D pairs involve cellular resources for communicat...In a cellular network,direct Device-to-Device(D2D)communication enhances Quality of Service(QoS)in terms of coverage,throughput and amount of power consumed.Since theD2D pairs involve cellular resources for communication,the chances of interference are high.D2D communications demand minimum interference along with maximum throughput and sum rate which can be achieved by employing optimal resources and efficient power allocation procedures.In this research,a hybrid optimization model called Genetic Algorithm-Adaptive Bat Optimization(GA-ABO)algorithm is proposed for efficient resource allocation in a cellular network with D2D communication.Simulation analysis demonstrates that the proposed model involves reduced interference with maximum sum rate and throughput.The performance of the proposed model is compared with the existing Ant Colony Optimization-based resource exchange and GAME(ACO-GAME)theory models,Trader-assistedResource EXchange mechanism-RadioAccess Network(TREX-RAN)and De-centralized Radio Access Network(TREXDRAN),and greedy CYcle-Complete preferences(CYC)models.The proposed model offers a maximum sum rate of 83 kB/s,which is much better than the existing techniques.展开更多
The development of science and technology has made it not only possible but very convenient for people living in different parts of the world to communicate with each other, thus bringing forth a new form of communica...The development of science and technology has made it not only possible but very convenient for people living in different parts of the world to communicate with each other, thus bringing forth a new form of communication: computer-mediated communication (CMC). Text-based CMC is one of the most popular forms of CMC in which people send instant messages to others in different settings. Since this mode of interaction combines features of both the written and spoken language (Greenfield & Subrahmanyam, 2003), it's of great interest whether it follows the same sequential rule as the telephone conversation. However, compared to telephone conversations, computer-mediated communication has received much less attention, let alone text-based CMC. The existing body of literature mostly focuses on content analysis and linguistic features but neglects the sequential organization of such interaction (Paolillo, 1999; Greenfield and Subrahmanyam, 2003; Herring, 1999). In light of this, this paper examines the opening moves of instant message exchanges among Chinese adults in an attempt to find out the unique features characterizing the way they open an online chat. The framework that was chosen for data analysis was the sequential model proposed by Schegloff for American telephone openings.展开更多

In order to guarantee the communication security, a novel communication security mechanism is proposed. The mechanism uses a communication encryption scheme to encrypt data packets and employs a risk avoidance scheme to avoid the malicious nodes during communications. Simulation results indicate that the mechanism is able to provide secure communication effectively and reduce the damage of attacks through multiple paths.展开更多

When the local estimates are not lost too much, the authors propose an optimal distributed fusion algorithm which is equivalent to the corresponding centralized Kalman filtering fusion with complete communications even if the process noise does exist. When this condition is not satisfied, based on the above global optimality result and sensor data compression, the authors propose a suboptimal distributed fusion algorithm. Numerical examples show that this suboptimal algorithm still works well and significantly better than the standard distributed Kalman filtering fusion subject to packet loss even if the process noise power is quite large.展开更多

Individuals exchange information,experience and strategy based on communication.Communication is the basis for individuals to form swarms and the bridge of swarms to realize cooperative control.In this paper,the multi...Individuals exchange information,experience and strategy based on communication.Communication is the basis for individuals to form swarms and the bridge of swarms to realize cooperative control.In this paper,the multirobot swarm and its cooperative control and communication methods are reviewed,and we summarize these methods from the task,control,and perception levels.Based on the research,the cooperative control and communication methods of intelligent swarms are divided into the following four categories:task assignment based methods(divided into market-based methods and alliance based methods),bio-inspired methods(divided into biochemical information inspired methods,vision based methods and self-organization based methods),distributed sensor fusion and reinforcement learning based methods,and we briefly define each method and introduce its basic ideas.Based on WOS database,we divide the development of each method into several stages according to the time distribution of the literature,and outline the main research content of each stage.Finally,we discuss the communication problems of intelligent swarms and the key issues,challenges and future work of each method.展开更多

文摘In a cellular network,direct Device-to-Device(D2D)communication enhances Quality of Service(QoS)in terms of coverage,throughput and amount of power consumed.Since theD2D pairs involve cellular resources for communication,the chances of interference are high.D2D communications demand minimum interference along with maximum throughput and sum rate which can be achieved by employing optimal resources and efficient power allocation procedures.In this research,a hybrid optimization model called Genetic Algorithm-Adaptive Bat Optimization(GA-ABO)algorithm is proposed for efficient resource allocation in a cellular network with D2D communication.Simulation analysis demonstrates that the proposed model involves reduced interference with maximum sum rate and throughput.The performance of the proposed model is compared with the existing Ant Colony Optimization-based resource exchange and GAME(ACO-GAME)theory models,Trader-assistedResource EXchange mechanism-RadioAccess Network(TREX-RAN)and De-centralized Radio Access Network(TREXDRAN),and greedy CYcle-Complete preferences(CYC)models.The proposed model offers a maximum sum rate of 83 kB/s,which is much better than the existing techniques.
文摘The development of science and technology has made it not only possible but very convenient for people living in different parts of the world to communicate with each other, thus bringing forth a new form of communication: computer-mediated communication (CMC). Text-based CMC is one of the most popular forms of CMC in which people send instant messages to others in different settings. Since this mode of interaction combines features of both the written and spoken language (Greenfield & Subrahmanyam, 2003), it's of great interest whether it follows the same sequential rule as the telephone conversation. However, compared to telephone conversations, computer-mediated communication has received much less attention, let alone text-based CMC. The existing body of literature mostly focuses on content analysis and linguistic features but neglects the sequential organization of such interaction (Paolillo, 1999; Greenfield and Subrahmanyam, 2003; Herring, 1999). In light of this, this paper examines the opening moves of instant message exchanges among Chinese adults in an attempt to find out the unique features characterizing the way they open an online chat. The framework that was chosen for data analysis was the sequential model proposed by Schegloff for American telephone openings.

文摘Communication security is a critical aspect of QoS provisioning in wireless mesh network (WMN). Because of the inherent characteristics of WMN, conventional security mechanisms cannot be applied. In order to guarantee the communication security, a novel communication security mechanism is proposed. The mechanism uses a communication encryption scheme to encrypt data packets and employs a risk avoidance scheme to avoid the malicious nodes during communications. Simulation results indicate that the mechanism is able to provide secure communication effectively and reduce the damage of attacks through multiple paths.
文摘Museums’building of international communication capacity has become a hot topic in museology.Featuring unique resources of ancient Shu culture,Sanxingdui Museum is of great value in international communication.This paper first reviews previous studies in this area,then analyzes the efforts made by present-day museums in China and abroad to raise their international profile,and later probes into the current status of Sanxingdui Museum’s building of international communication capacity.On this basis,this paper summarizes the countermeasures Sanxingdui Museum took and proposes suggestions regarding the building of its international communication capacity.Sanxingdui Museum should work harder to improve its overseas exhibitions,protect and study its cultural relics,advance the application for World Heritage status,and promote the Sanxingdui brand via multimedia.
文摘The international recognition of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)has continuously increased,and that medical practice has gradually become incorporated into the medical systems of many nations.As an important country in the Belt and Road Initiative,Iran has enormous potential for cooperation with China in medical and health care.High-level officials of the two countries attach great importance to cooperation in both areas.Despite the recent rapid development of TCM in Iran,that medical practice still faces many problems;examples here are the lack of practitioners of TCM as well as the paucity of comprehensive cooperation among herbal medicine factories,publishing houses,traditional medicine colleges,and universities in the two countries.The present study collected and analyzed materials related to the practice of TCM in Iran;it made a deep examination of the current situation,problems,and development prospects regarding TCM in Iran with the aim of providing ideas and references to promote the international development of that form of medicine.Following an analysis of the development trends of TCM in Iran in recent years,it became evident that the prospects for TCM in that country are extensive,and the practice has excellent potential.

文摘This paper considers the distributed Kalman filtering fusion with passive packet loss or initiative intermittent communications from local estimators to fusion center while the process noise does exist. When the local estimates are not lost too much, the authors propose an optimal distributed fusion algorithm which is equivalent to the corresponding centralized Kalman filtering fusion with complete communications even if the process noise does exist. When this condition is not satisfied, based on the above global optimality result and sensor data compression, the authors propose a suboptimal distributed fusion algorithm. Numerical examples show that this suboptimal algorithm still works well and significantly better than the standard distributed Kalman filtering fusion subject to packet loss even if the process noise power is quite large.

文摘Individuals exchange information,experience and strategy based on communication.Communication is the basis for individuals to form swarms and the bridge of swarms to realize cooperative control.In this paper,the multirobot swarm and its cooperative control and communication methods are reviewed,and we summarize these methods from the task,control,and perception levels.Based on the research,the cooperative control and communication methods of intelligent swarms are divided into the following four categories:task assignment based methods(divided into market-based methods and alliance based methods),bio-inspired methods(divided into biochemical information inspired methods,vision based methods and self-organization based methods),distributed sensor fusion and reinforcement learning based methods,and we briefly define each method and introduce its basic ideas.Based on WOS database,we divide the development of each method into several stages according to the time distribution of the literature,and outline the main research content of each stage.Finally,we discuss the communication problems of intelligent swarms and the key issues,challenges and future work of each method.
