However, after the corresponding understanding, it is found that a series of unsustainable epidemic prevention factors have been exposed in the community in the COVID-19, such as blocked access to basic materials, unsafe living environment, and lack of social platforms. In view of these problems, based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, the changes in the hierarchy of needs of residents during the epidemic were analyzed, and sustainable community epidemic prevention strategies were proposed from five aspects of material storage, safe environment, social platform, respect opportunity and self-worth realization, so as to provide effective reference for future response to public health emergencies.展开更多

The outbreak of the novel coronavirus epidemic in early 2020 triggered off worldwide concerns for epidemic prevention as a coping strategy against public health crises.Facing the epidemic which has been characterized ...The outbreak of the novel coronavirus epidemic in early 2020 triggered off worldwide concerns for epidemic prevention as a coping strategy against public health crises.Facing the epidemic which has been characterized by wide spreading range and a long incubation period,communities have become the frontier in the war against it.At the same time,various problems have been exposed at the community level,including the lack of epidemic prevention planning,the high workload of community staff,and the insufficient public awareness on public health,etc.Focusing on the construction of Taiwan’s community epidemic prevention system,this paper elaborates the signifcance and necessity of the community’s participation in epidemic prevention based on a systematic literature review and policy study.It analyzes the restructuring and transition of a community epidemic prevention system and the primary strategies of community epidemic prevention planning,community health building,community health resources networking,community epidemic prevention practice,and the emergency planning in response to the novel coronavirus epidemic.It fnally summarizes the methods of building a sustainable community epidemic prevention system.展开更多
Meteorological information used for disaster prevention has developed rapidly in terms of both type and specificity.The latest forecasting models can predict weather with very high resolutions that can characterize di...Meteorological information used for disaster prevention has developed rapidly in terms of both type and specificity.The latest forecasting models can predict weather with very high resolutions that can characterize disaster risk at the local level.However,this development can lead to an overdependency on the information and a wait-and-see attitude by the public.At the same time,residents share and use various types of information for disaster response,such as local conditions,in addition to official disaster information.Our research in Japan verified the practicality and efficiency of synergistically integrating these types of information by examining actual evacuation cases.The current numerical forecasting models sufficiently identify locality from the viewpoint of various administrative scales such as prefectures,municipalities,and school districts,but the improvements to these models have failed to improve residents’judgment in successful evacuation cases.We therefore analyzed the relationship between meteorological information and residents’disaster response and confirmed that they were strongly correlated and were contributing factors in preventing disasters.We revealed differences between a community’s disaster prevention culture and the disaster information provided.This led us to propose a new concept in community disaster prevention that we call the‘‘disaster response switch,’’which can serve as a data-driven risk management tool for communities when used in combination with advanced meteorological disaster information.展开更多
