METHODS: A cross sectional questionnaire was administered to inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) patients in 3 separate cohorts which differed by geographical region and care setting. Demographics and frequency of regular CAM use were assessed, along with attitudes towards IBD medication and psychological parameters such as anxiety, depression, personality traits and quality of life(QOL), and compared across cohorts. Independent attitudinal and psychological predictors of CAM use were determined using binary logistic regression analysis. RESULTS: In 473 respondents(mean age 50.3 years, 60.2% female) regular CAM use was reported by45.4%, and did not vary between cohorts. Only 54.1%of users disclosed CAM use to their doctor. Independent predictors of CAM use which confirm those reported previously were: covert conventional medication dose reduction(P < 0.001), seeking psychological treatment(P < 0.001), adverse effects of conventional medication(P = 0.043), and higher QOL(P < 0.001).Newly identified predictors were CAM use by family or friends(P < 0.001), dissatisfaction with patient-doctor communication(P < 0.001), and lower depression scores(P < 0.001). CONCLUSION: In addition to previously identified predictors of CAM use, these data show that physician attention to communication and the patient-doctor relationship is important as these factors influence CAM use. Patient reluctance to discuss CAM with physicians may promote greater reliance on social contacts to influence CAM decisions.展开更多

Complete network analysis was conducted in a student class at the Dept. of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, University of Thessaly (N = 66). Standardized questionnaires were used. Network analysis and Principal Component Analysis were implemented using Visone software and SPSS, respectively. Main results were: in the typology of targeting, parameters of motivation climate, verbal aggressiveness and argumentativeness were combined in several types (“affable ambitious”, “isolated victim”, “isolated ambitious”, “lightly victimized” and “severely victimized”) which were partially complementary and partially nested into each other. These depict student profiles vary from quite socialized and invulnerable to only isolated and victimized. They also reveal the significance of seeking knowledge acquirement vs. performance. The typology of general involvement (in- and out-degree) contains types tending to be rather nested into each other than complementary which varies from quite integrative to purely deconstructive appearance. This typology depicts the connection of motivation climate (and the subsequently induced familiarity) with verbal aggressiveness without diminishing susceptibility to argumentation. The fact that the typology of targeting is composed of several complementary types while in the typology of general involvement mainly of nested ones, can be attributed to the structural clarity of the former ones (a typology focusing展开更多

Maize, soybean and peanut were blended in a ratio of 60:30:10 to produce a complementary food, which was then fortified. While the unfortified food product (sample A) served as control, the other three formulations were fortified with 5%, 10% and 15% Moringa leaf powder to give three samples (B, C and D respectively) of fortified food. Nutritional composition determination and feeding trials were then carried out, using two weeks old male albino rats to determine the performance of the food formulations. While the crude protein, crude fibre, and ash contents of the diets increased significantly (p with fortification, with values ranging from 16.04% to 17.59%, 2.25% to 4.42% and 1.40% to 2.50% respectively, crude fat and carbohydrate decreased significantly (p < 0.05), with concomitant decrease in energy, with values ranging from 23.48% to 20.80%, 49.32% to 47.63% and 472.76% to 448.08 kcal/100g respectively in samples A to D. PER values significantly (p < 0.05) improved up to 10% substitution, from 1.77 in unfortified (sample A) to 1.90 in 10% fortified (sample C), but declined at 15% substitution (sample D) to 1.69. Similarly, NPR values increased from 0.71 to 0.76 and 0.68. However, all the PER values including that of Nestle Cerelac (2.04) were lower than, though within the same range, with the value of 2.10 recommended by the Protein Advisory Group (PAG) for complementary foods. Sample C (10% Moringa flour blend) gave the best performance after rat feeding trials.展开更多

This model is aimed at maximizing the total system power generation and the minimum ten-day joint output. To effectively optimize the multi-objective model, a new algorithm named non-dominated sorting culture differential evolution algorithm(NSCDE) is proposed. The feasibility of NSCDE was verified through several well-known benchmark problems. It was then applied to the Jinping Wind-Solar-Hydro complementary power generation system. The results demonstrate that NSCDE can provide decision makers a series of optimized scheduling schemes.展开更多

文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the fifth most common type of cancer and the fourth leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the world.HCC has a reported recurrence rate of 70%-80%after 5 years of follow-up.Controlling tumor recurrence is the most critical factor associated with HCC mortality.Conventional salvage therapies for recurrent HCC include re-hepatectomy or liver transplantation, transcatheter arterial chemoembolization,Y-90,target therapy, and immunotherapy;however, these conventional treatment modalities have yet to achieve consistently favorable outcomes.Meanwhile, previous studies have demonstrated that conventional therapies in combination with traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),acupuncture, moxibustion or dietary supplements could notably benefit patients with HCC recurrence by strengthening and augmenting the overall management strategy. However, systemic reviews related to the interactions between complementary therapies and conventional therapy in recurrent HCC are limited. In this review,we discuss the molecular mechanisms underlying the functions of complementary therapies for recurrent HCC,which include augmenting the local control to improve the congestion status of primary tumors and reducing multicentric tumor occurrence via inducing autophagy, apoptosis or cell cycle arrest.TCM and its derivatives may play important roles in helping to control HCC recurrence by inhibiting epithelial-mesenchymal transition, migration, invasion, and metastasis, inhibiting cancer stem cells, and ameliorating drug resistance.

文摘In the past, convolutional neural network(CNN)has become one of the most popular deep learning frameworks, and has been widely used in Hyperspectral image classification tasks.Convolution(Conv)in CNN uses filter weights to extract features in local receiving domain, and the weight parameters are shared globally, which more focus on the highfrequency information of the image.Different from Conv,Transformer can obtain the long‐term dependence between long‐distance features through modelling, and adaptively focus on different regions. In addition,Transformer is considered as a low‐pass filter, which more focuses on the low‐frequency information of the image.Considering the complementary characteristics of Conv and Transformer, the two modes can be integrated for full feature extraction. In addition, the most important image features correspond to the discrimination region, while the secondary image features represent important but easily ignored regions, which are also conducive to the classification of HSIs.In this study,a complementary integrated Transformer network(CITNet)for hyperspectral image classification is proposed.Firstly, three‐dimensional convolution(Conv3D)and two‐dimensional convolution(Conv2D)are utilised to extract the shallow semantic information of the image. In order to enhance the secondary features,a channel Gaussian modulation attention module is proposed, which is embedded between Conv3D and Conv2D.This module can not only enhance secondary features, but suppress the most important and least important features. Then, considering the different and complementary characteristics of Conv and Transformer,a complementary integrated Transformer module is designed. Finally, through a large number of experiments, this study evaluates the classification performance of CITNet and several state‐of‐the‐art networks on five common datasets. The experimental results show that compared with these classification networks,CITNet can provide better classification performance.
文摘To improve the operation efficiency of the photovoltaic power station complementary power generation system,an optimal allocation model of the photovoltaic power station complementary power generation capacity based on PSO-BP is proposed.Particle Swarm Optimization and BP neural network are used to establish the forecasting model, the Markov chain model is used to correct the forecasting error of the model, and the weighted fitting method is used to forecast the annual load curve,to complete the optimal allocation of complementary generating capacity of photovoltaic power stations. The experimental results show that thismethod reduces the average loss of photovoltaic output prediction, improves the prediction accuracy and recall rate of photovoltaic output prediction, and ensures the effective operation of the power system.
文摘Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS)is a common gastrointestinal disorder with a high incidence in the general population. The diagnosis of IBS is mainly based on exclusion of other intestinal conditions through the absence of inflammatory markers and specific antigens. The current pharmacological treatment approaches available focus on reducing symptom severity while often limiting quality of life because of significant side effects. This has led to an effectiveness gap for IBS patients that seek further relief to increase their quality of life.Complementary and alternative medicines(CAM)have been associated with a higher degree of symptom management and quality of life in IBS patients.Over the past decade,a number of important clinical trials have shown that specific herbal therapies(peppermint oil and Iberogast?),hypnotherapy, cognitive behavior therapy, acupuncture, and yoga present with improved treatment outcomes in IBS patients. We propose an integrative approach to treating the diverse symptoms of IBS by combining the benefits of and need for pharmacotherapy with known CAM therapies to provide IBS patients with the best treatment outcome achievable.Initial steps in this direction are already being considered with an increasing number of practitioners recommending CAM therapies to their patients if pharmacotherapy alone does not alleviate symptoms sufficiently.
文摘AIM: To examine the frequency of regular complementary and alternative therapy(CAM) use in three Australian cohorts of contrasting care setting and geography, and identify independent attitudinal and psychological predictors of CAM use across all cohorts. Patient reluctance to discuss CAM with physicians may promote greater reliance on social contacts to influence CAM decisions.

文摘Image classification based on bag-of-words(BOW)has a broad application prospect in pattern recognition field but the shortcomings such as single feature and low classification accuracy are apparent. To deal with this problem, this paper proposes to combine two ingredients:(i)Three features with functions of mutual complementation are adopted to describe the images, including pyramid histogram of words(PHOW),pyramid histogram of color(PHOC)and pyramid histogram of orientated gradients(PHOG).(ii)An adaptive feature-weight adjusted image categorization algorithm based on the SVM and the decision level fusion of multiple features are employed.Experiments are carried out on the Caltech101 database, which confirms the validity of the proposed approach. The experimental results show that the classification accuracy rate of the proposed method is improved by 7%-14%higher than that of the traditional BOW methods. With full utilization of global, local and spatial information, the algorithm is much more complete and flexible to describe the feature information of the image through the multi-feature fusion and the pyramid structure composed by image spatial multi-resolution decomposition.Significant improvements to the classification accuracy are achieved as the result.

文摘Most large-scale evapotranspiration(ET)estimation methods require detailed information of land use, land cover,and/or soil type on top of various atmospheric measurements. The complementary relationship of evaporation(CR)takes advantage of the inherent dynamic feedback mechanisms found in the soil−vegetation−atmosphere interface for its estimation of ET rates without the need of such biogeophysical data.ET estimates over the conterminous United States by a new, globally calibrated, static scaling(GCR-stat)of the generalized complementary relationship(GCR)of evaporation were compared to similar estimates of an existing,calibration-free version(GCR-dyn)of the GCR that employs a temporally varying dynamic scaling.Simplified annual water balances of 327 medium and 18 large watersheds served as ground-truth ET values. With long-term monthly mean forcing,GCR-stat(also utilizing precipitation measurements)outperforms GCR-dyn as the latter cannot fully take advantage of its dynamic scaling with such data of reduced temporal variability. However,in a continuous monthly simulation,GCR-dyn is on a par with GCR-stat,and especially excels in reproducing long-term tendencies in annual catchment ET rates even though it does not require precipitation information. The same GCR-dyn estimates were also compared to similar estimates of eight other popular ET products and they generally outperform all of them. For this reason,a dynamic scaling of the GCR is recommended over a static one for modeling long-term behavior of terrestrial ET.
文摘Goal of this research is to suggest a typology of verbal aggressiveness, argumentativeness and motivational climate influence, pointing out examples of complementary types (namely containing no identical components) and nested types (containing identical components). The fact that the typology of targeting is composed of several complementary types while in the typology of general involvement mainly of nested ones, can be attributed to the structural clarity of the former ones (a typology focusing
文摘Nutritional evaluation of complementary food formulations from maize, soybean and peanut fortified with Moringa oleifera leaf powder was carried out. Sample C (10% Moringa flour blend) gave the best performance after rat feeding trials.

文摘The lignification triggered by biotic or abiotic stresses hardens fruits and vegetables and eventually influences their consumer appeal.Extensive prior efforts have been made to unveil the underlying mechanism of flesh lignification, primarily focused on its physicochemical and molecular biological properties.Nevertheless, most of these studies used destroyed and homogenized bulk tissues as analytes;as a result, potentially valuable spatial information was lost.In this study, the deposition of lignin in loquat flesh during lignification was visualized from the tissue level to the singlecell level by combining the advantages of stimulated Raman scattering(SRS)and spontaneous Raman microscopy using label-free in situ molecular imaging.SRS has the advantages of being fast and providing large-area chemical imaging to reveal the spatial heterogeneity of lignin and cell wall polysaccharide distribution in loquat flesh. After 2 days of storage at 0℃,increased lignins were observed by large-area SRS imaging. In addition, microscopic SRS images of the flesh cells indicated that the increased lignins were trapped in the cell corner(CC)and middle lamella(ML).Furthermore, the compositional and structural features of lignified cells(LCs),CC and ML of loquat flesh were investigated by spontaneous Raman microscopy, and the results showed that the LCs were a combination of lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose, whereas CC and ML showed only deposited lignin and pectin without cross-linked cellulose and hemicellulose. This result further suggests that the lignins in the CC and ML regions of loquats were later synthesized alone during postharvest storage. This innovative combination of SRS and spontaneous Raman microscopy allows the label-free macroscale and fine chemical imaging of plant cell walls and will enhance our fundamental understanding of the structures and functions of the plant cell wall.

文摘Data loss or distortion causes adverse effects on the accuracy and stability of the thunderstorm point charge localization. To solve this problem,we propose a data complementary method based on the atmospheric electric field apparatus array group. The electric field component measurement model of the atmospheric electric field apparatus is established, and the orientation parameters of the thunderstorm point charge are defined.Based on the mirror method, the thunderstorm point charge coordinates are obtained by using the potential distribution formulas. To test the validity of the basic algorithm, the electric field component measurement error and the localization accuracy are studied.Besides the azimuth angle and the elevation angle, the localization parameters also include the distance from the apparatus to the thunderstorm cloud.Based on a primary electric field apparatus,we establish the array group of apparatuses.Based on this, the data measured by each apparatus is complementarily processed to regain the thunderstorm point charge position. The results show that, compared with the radar map data, this method can accurately reflect the location of the thunderstorm point charge, and has a better localization effect.Additionally, several observation results during thunderstorm weather have been presented.

文摘Due to the intermittency and instability of Wind-Solar energy and easy compensation of hydropower, this study proposes a Wind-Solar-Hydro power optimal scheduling model. The results demonstrate that NSCDE can provide decision makers a series of optimized scheduling schemes.
