Improving Corrosion Resistance of C_f/Mg Composites using Rare Earth Conversion Coatings

The surface of carbon fiber reinforced Mg matrix (Cf/Mg) composites was modified by treatment of rare earth conversion coating, and nontoxic, non-pollution Ce conversion coatings were prepared. The effect of the coatings on corrosion behaviors of composites was investigated by electrochemical polarization technology and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in 3.5% NaCl solution. The higher Ecorr and lower icorr were obtained by Ce conversion coatings. EIS results showed that the higher values of R2 were obtained by treatment containing CeCl3, the high corrosion resistance occured in treatment containing CeCl3, the low corrosion resistance in uncoating sample, the coating of treatment containing Ce(NO3)3 was medium. The microstructure of Ce conversion coatings was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and the elements of corresponding for coatings was characterized by energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS). The micro-cracks and Ce-riched spherical particles were characteristics of these coatings. 展开更多

By using sub-overquenching and annealing method which has a wide processing window, (Nd, Pr), ( Fe-CoZr)(94-x)B-6(x = 12, 10.5, 10, 9) bonded magnets were prepared and the effect of rare earths content on magnetic properties was investigated. Being spun at sub-ove.quenching speed the as-spun ribbons consist of amorphous phases mixed with fine crystallites. After crystallization under optimum annealing conditions and bonded with 3.25% (mass fraction) epoxy, the magnets obtained the optimum magnetic properties. The rare earths content directly determines the magnetic properties. With the reduction of rare earths content, B-r increases but H-ci and (BH)(max) decrease. x = 10 is the critical value for the magnetic proper-ties change. Below this value, Br increases slowly meanwhile H-ci and (BH)(max) decrease strongly because alloy contains extra fractions of soft magnetic phase which are not coupled with the hard magnetic phase.. This experimental result is consistent with the calculated results using the model of volume fraction of soft magnetic phase coupled completely suggested. 展开更多

利用光学显微镜、扫描电子显微镜和销盘式摩擦磨损试验机研究了混合稀土(Pr+Ce)对ZL105铝合金微观组织和耐磨性能的影响。结果表明:添加适量的混合稀土(Pr+Ce)可有效细化α-Al晶粒和共晶Si相,当稀土含量为0.50%时,细化效果最佳,α-Al晶... 利用光学显微镜、扫描电子显微镜和销盘式摩擦磨损试验机研究了混合稀土(Pr+Ce)对ZL105铝合金微观组织和耐磨性能的影响。结果表明:添加适量的混合稀土(Pr+Ce)可有效细化α-Al晶粒和共晶Si相,当稀土含量为0.50%时,细化效果最佳,α-Al晶粒变得细小而圆整,αA1枝晶晶界也变清晰;变质后共晶Si相由针片状、板块状转化为短棒状、颗粒状。未变质ZL105铝合金的硬度值为70.9HV,而添加0.50%混合稀土的变质合金硬度值达到最高,为88.3HV,与未变质合金相比提升了24.54%。未变质处理合金的耐磨性能较差,其磨损量和摩擦系数分别为0.1927g和0.598,而添加0.50%混合稀土后合金的磨损量和摩擦系数分别为0.1220g和0.520,磨损量减少了0.0707g,摩擦系数降低了13.04%。ZL105铝合金的磨损机制主要为剥层磨损,且磨屑尺寸粗大;而当添加0.50%稀土后,变质合金的磨损机制主要为磨粒磨损,且磨屑以细颗粒和粉末状为主。 展开更多

The optimum chemical passivation process of the rare earth metal (REM) conversion coating on the Cf/6061Al composite surface was introduced in this paper and its polarization curves properties were investigated. Ridge-like coatings were found by scanning electro microscope (SEM) observations, and the Al matrix and carbon fibre reinforcement were both coated with Ce conversion coatings, with some minor cracks. The energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) plane scan analysis indicates that the major elements in the coating are Ce, O, Si, Al and the Ce content reaches 47.48% (mass fraction). The Ce conversion coatings increase the corrosion resisting properties of Cf/6061A1 composite, with a higher free corrosion potential (Ecorr) and a lower free corrosion current density (icorr) for the coated composite than those of the bare composite. And the Boehmite-treatment would enhance the corrosion resistance of the REM conversion coating. The ca-thodic polarization and anodic polarization were retarded by REM conversion coating, resulting in an improved corrosion resistance. 展开更多

SrGdGa3O7∶RE (RE=Ce3+, Pr3+, Tb3+) were prepared by traditional solid-state reaction and their luminescence properties in the range of VUV-Vis were investigated. The two broad bands situated at about 177 and 217 nm in excitation spectra are attributed to the host lattices absorption, and they have no considerable change when doped different rare earth ions. The f-d transitions of Pr3+ and Tb3+ calculated by the formula gathered by Dorenbos were compared to the experimental results. The excitation spectra also show the sharp Gd3+ excitation line at about 274 nm pointing to an efficient energy transfer from Gd3+ to Pr3+ and Tb3+. All of the emission spectra present the characteristic emissions of rare earth ions when excited by VUV and UV. 展开更多

复合稀土(Pr,Ce)是以三元中间合金的形式加入ADC12合金基体中,制备出不同质量分数(0,0.25%,0.5%和0.75%)的(Pr,Ce)复合稀土变质ADC12合金。利用光学显微镜、扫描电镜以及销-盘式摩擦磨损试验机,对比分析不同质量分数的复合稀土变质ADC1... 复合稀土(Pr,Ce)是以三元中间合金的形式加入ADC12合金基体中,制备出不同质量分数(0,0.25%,0.5%和0.75%)的(Pr,Ce)复合稀土变质ADC12合金。利用光学显微镜、扫描电镜以及销-盘式摩擦磨损试验机,对比分析不同质量分数的复合稀土变质ADC12合金的微观组织和摩擦磨损性能。结果表明:当(Pr,Ce)复合稀土含量为0.5%时,组织中粗大的α(Al)相变得较为细小,以等轴晶为主,Si相则由原来的长条状转变为短颗粒状。此时,变质ADC12合金的耐磨性能也是最佳的,其摩损率和摩擦系数分别为0.0517 g/mm和0.3695,与未变质处理的合金相比分别降低了35.94%和6.19%,合金耐磨性能在添加了复合稀土之后得到了极大的提升。ADC12合金基体和0.25%的复合稀土变质ADC12合金主要为剥层磨损,0.5%的复合稀土变质合金主要为磨粒磨损,0.75%的复合稀土变质合金主要为粘着磨损。 展开更多

A series of catalysts with (Ce-Zr-La-Pr)O contents range from 0 to 50% in coating and single-palladium loads on substrates were prepared to study effects of (Ce-Zr-La-Pr)O contents on catalytic activities and durability by contrasting the characteristics of light-off, A/F and catalytic conversions of the fresh catalysts with that of the aged catalysts. The results show that (Ce-Zr-La-Pr)O can enhance the catalysts light-off characteristics, widen A/F windows and increase catalytic conversions at a certain extent through optimizing physical structural and chemical property of the mixed coating. However, (Ce-Zr-La-Pr)O contents influence greatly on the catalysts activities and durability, and the catalysts with contents ranging from 10% to 30% exhibited better integrative properties in all samples, and 10% was the optical content to make the catalyst performance highest in this thesis. It is indicated that an suitable content of (Ce-Zr-La-Pr)O plays an important role in assisting catalysis, enhancing durability and increasing oxygen storage capability. 展开更多

(Pr-Nd-La-Ce)_(2)Fe_(14)B基混合稀土永磁合金磁性能的机器学习预测

目的:找到内禀矫顽力(H_(cj))、剩磁(B_(r))、最大磁能积((BH)_(max))和配方成分、工艺参数之间的内在关联性。方法:我们从相关论文收集了140余条数据,使用配方成分、工艺参数作为数据特征,使用内禀矫顽力、剩磁、最大磁能积作为目标属... 目的:找到内禀矫顽力(H_(cj))、剩磁(B_(r))、最大磁能积((BH)_(max))和配方成分、工艺参数之间的内在关联性。方法:我们从相关论文收集了140余条数据,使用配方成分、工艺参数作为数据特征,使用内禀矫顽力、剩磁、最大磁能积作为目标属性,采用随机森林算法和梯度提升树的机器学习算法构建预测模型,最后通过我们实验室的数据来测试模型的预测能力。结果:3个模型的平均绝对误差(MAE)分别为91.8 kA/m、0.047 T和6.583 kJ/m^(3)。H_(cj)的预测值与实验室测得数据的MAE为78.0 kA/m。预测数据与实际数据基本一致。结论:使用梯度提升树构建的预测模型在配方成分和工艺参数对磁性能的映射上有良好的预测性,可以为寻找低成本高性能的磁体提供指导,有利于从根本上提高混合稀土永磁合金的研究速度。 展开更多

Influences of Platinum Precursors and Solution Acidities on REO-Based Catalysts Performances

Important effects exist between precious metals and rare earths oxides in three-way catalyst, especially the coordinated effects. These effects were studied by using H2PtCl6, Pt(NH3)2(NO2)2 and Pt(OH)2(C2H5ONH2)2 as Pt precursors, and the mixed oxide of (Ce-Zr-La-Pr)O as base material to prepare a series of catalysts, and their performances of the catalysts were studied by TPR and CO pulse titration technologies. The results shown that Pt precursors and their solutions pH values influenced the oxygen storage capabilities, the active metal distribution degrees of the catalysts obviously, and every catalyst prepared by different precursors had an optimal pH values. It indicates that the active metals precursors and their solutions acidities have outstanding influences on the catalysts performances for the mutual effects existing between the active metals and the Rare Earth metal oxides, which results from the mate groups of the precursors and the solution acidity. 展开更多

Effect of Zr on Microstructure and Magnetic Properties of Nanocrystalline (Nd, Pr)FeB/α-Fe Composite Alloys

For nanophase (Nd, Pr)FeB/α-Fe composite alloys were prepared by melt spinning, the appreciable addition of Zr reduces their average grain size. Observed by atom force microscopy (AFM), the average grain diameter of crystallized ribbons on their free surface, reduces from 175 nm of Zr-free alloy to 79 nm of Zr-1at%, by about 55%. If the concentration exceeds 1%, the effects of Zr on fining grain size are evidently weakened. The average grain size on free surface of Zr-1.5at% is 72 nm. With the addition of 1at% Zn, the bonded magnets has the best combination of properties: B_r=0.675 T, H_(ci)=616 kA·m^(-1), (BH)_(max)=77 kJ·m^(-3). Below 1at%, the coarser grains lead to a lower magnetic property. Beyond 1at%, the layer of Zr-rich intergranular phase will thicken, which results in weakening of the exchange coupling among adjacent grains, and then causes degrading of magnetic properties of magnets. 展开更多

Four kinds of Ce3+ exchanged montmorillonites (Ce/MMTs) were prepared by an ion-exchange reaction, and characterized with energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), X-ray difference (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The surface properties and antibacterial activity of Ce/MMTs were also investigated. The chemical compositions of Ce/MMTs were determined, and the cerium of Ce/MMTs was confirmed to be present as trivalent cerium state. The d001 basal spacings of Ce/MMTs were enlarged with the enhancement of the cerium contents, and the particles were formed with irregular shape. On increasing the Ce contents of Ce/MMTs, the special surface areas were decreased, but the total pore volumes and the average pore sizes were increased. The antibacterial activity of Ce/MMTs is increased with increasing the cerium contents, and 1.5 g/L of Ce/MMT-3 containing 11.46wt.% of curium could remove all the Staphylococcus aureus and more than 99.9% of the Escherichia coli within 24.0 h of contact. Hierarchical layer-stacking Mn-Ce composite oxide with mesoporous structure was firstly prepared by a simple precipitation/decomposition procedure with oxalate precursor and the complete catalytic oxidation of VOCs(benzene, toluene and ethyl acetate) were examined. The Mn-Ce oxalate precursor was obtained from metal salt and oxalic acid without any additives. The resulting materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller(BET), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX), hydrogen temperature programmed reduction(H2-TPR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS). Compared with Mn-Ce composite oxide synthesized through a traditional method(Na2CO3 route), the hierarchical layer-stacking Mn-Ce composite oxide exhibited higher catalytic activity in the complete oxidation of volatile organic compounds(VOCs). By means of testing, the data revealed that the hierarchical layer-stacking Mn-Ce composite oxide possessed superior physiochemical properties such as good low-temperature reducibility, high manganese oxidation state and rich adsorbed surface oxygen species which resulted in the enhancement of catalytic abilities. 展开更多

The nano-crystalline Cu-Ce-Zr-O composite oxides were successfully prepared by the supercritical anti-solvent (SAS) process. The physicochemical properties and catalytic performances were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, H2 temperature-programmed reduction (H2 -TPR), oxygen storage capacity (OSC) measurement and catalytic activity evaluation. It was found that Cu2+ ions incorporated into CeO2 -ZrO2 lattice to form Cu-Ce-Zr-O solid solution associated with the formation of oxygen vacancies. The Cu-Ce-Zr-O catalysts prepared via the SAS process with the Cu content 2.63 mol.% showed the highest OSC index of 636.9 μmol/g. Compared with the samples prepared by impregnation method, Cu doping using SAS process could improve the dispersion of Cu2+ in the composite oxide, enhance the interaction between Cu2+ and CeO2-ZrO2 , improve the reducibility of catalyst, and thus improve the OSC performance and increase the catalytic activity for CO oxidation at low temperature. 展开更多
