Herbal slice (HS) and Chinese patent drug (CPD) are commonly used CHM in China. This study aimed to investigate the utilization of CHM among clinicians and cancer patients in central China. Five hundred and twenty-five patients and 165 clinicians in 35 comprehensive hospitals in central China were asked to complete an anonymous questionnaire that was designed to evaluate the use of CHM. The results showed that 90.74% clinicians and 72.24% cancer patients used CHM during cancer treatment. The educational backgrounds of the clinicians and the age, education level, annual income, and cancer stage of the cancer patients were re- lated to use of CHM. More than 90% clinicians and cancer patients had used CPD. Comparatively, the percentage of HS use was 10% lower than that of CPD use among clinicians and cancer patients. More clinicians preferred to use CHM after surgery than cancer patients did (20.41% vs. 5.37%). Enhancing physical fitness and improving performance status were regarded as the most potential effect of CHM on cancer treatment (85.71% among clinicians and 94.07% among cancer patients), in comparison with directly killing tumor cells (24.49% among clinicians and 31.36% among patients). As for refusal rea- sons, imprecise efficacy was the unanimous (100%) reason for clinicians' rejection of CHM, and 95.58% patients objected to using CHM also for this reason. Furthermore, the side effects of CHM were more concerned by clinicians than by patients (33.33% vs. 15.81%). In conclusion, our survey revealed that CHM was popularly accepted by clinicians and cancer patients in central China. The reasons of use and rejection of CHM were different between clinicians and cancer patients.展开更多

文摘Diabetic foot is one of the chronic complications of diabetes, which is serious and expensive to treat. As an effective method for treating diabetic foot,Chinese medicine plays an important role in improving the clinical symptoms and reducing the suffering of diabetic foot patients. The methods of traditional Chinese medicine to treat diabetic foot include internal treatment method, external treatment method and comprehensive therapy. This article reviews the research results of traditional Chinese medicine treatment of diabetic foot in order to provide reference for the treatment of diabetic foot.
文摘Pricking-cupping therapy is a Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)nursing technology that can adjust the viscera of the human body, make the meridians smooth, and Yin and Yang balanced mainly by means of relieving heat and detoxification, harmonizing Qi and blood, promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, dredging meridians and activating collaterals, reducing swelling and pain, purging heat and calming shock, clearing heat, and opening orifices.Pricking-cupping therapy has a long history and wide application. After thousands of years of development,it has made great progress. They are widely used to treat lumbar disc herniation, herpes zoster, acute arthritis, migraine, and other diseases in China.Through the clinical practice and theoretical exploration of physicians of past dynasties, the therapeutic mechanism and application scope of pricking-cupping therapy have been greatly enriched.Modern TCM practitioners have conducted in-depth researches on the operation norms of the therapy on the basis of the ancients, hoping to grasp the essence of the disease more accurately and make the rational use of the operation technology of the therapy.
文摘Backgroundand Aim:Using simulation in learning medical interventions is a common practice.Simulation techniques provided a safe environment for trainees and students to acquire clinical skills and knowledge to practice in a real clinical environment. The aim of this review is to assess the use of health simulation in the field of complementary medicine education. Methods:Three medical databases were searched from inception to 15 November 2021.The inclusion criteria were clinical trials that used simulation in the field of complementary medicine training and in English language and the full text can be retrieved. Results:After searching,495 articles were retrieved,235 articles were excluded for duplication and 249 articles were excluded after screening of titles/abstracts and applying inclusion and exclusion criteria.Finally,11 articles were included in this review. These clinical trials had 719 participants and reported positive impact of using simulation in complementary medicine education. Conclusion:Simulation wasused for training of some complementary medicine therapies such as chiropractic, acupuncture, massage therapy, cupping therapy and osteopathy.Using simulation in complementary medicine education is recommended to ensure a safe environment for training.Conducting high quality clinical trials to evaluate the use of simulation in complementary medicine education is highly recommended.

文摘Background As one of the most common musculoskeletal ailments, chronic nonspecific low-back pain(CNLBP)causes persistent disability and substantial medical expenses.Epidemiological evidence shows that the incidence rate of CNLBP in young and middle-aged people who are demanded rapidly recovery and social contribution is rising.Recent guidelines indicate a reduced role for medicines in the management of CNLBP.Objective The present study investigates the short-term effects of cupping and scraping therapy using a medicated balm, compared to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug(NSAID)with a capsaicin plaster,in the treatment of CNLBP.Design, setting, participants and interventions We designed a prospective multicenter randomized clinical trial enrolling patients from January 1,2022 to December 31,2022.A total of 156 patients with CNLBP were randomized into two parallel groups.Diclofenac sodium-sustained release tablets were administered orally to participants in the control group for one week while a capsaicin plaster was applied externally.Patients in the test group were treated with cupping and scraping using a medical device and medicated balm.Main outcome measures Primary outcome was pain recorded using the visual analogue scale(VAS).Two secondary outcomes were recorded using the Japanese Orthopedic Association low-back pain scale(JOA)and the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome integral scale(TCMS)as assessment tools. Results Between baseline and postintervention, all changes in outcome metric scales were statistically significant(P<0.001).Compared to the control group, patients in the test group had a significantly greater treatment effect in all outcome variables,as indicated by lower VAS and TCMS scores and higher JOA scores, after the one-week intervention period(P<0.001).Further,according to the findings of multivariate linear regression analysis, the participants’pain(VAS score)was related to their marital status, age, smoking habits and body mass index. No adverse reactions were reported for any participants in this trial. Conclusion The effectiveness of TCM combined with the new physiotherapy tool is superior to that of NSAID combined with topical plasters, regarding to pain intensity,TCM symptoms and quality of life. The TCM plus physiotherapy also showed more stable and long-lasting therapeutic effects.

文摘Objective:This article collected, organized, and summarized the medical literatures of cupping therapy from three major Chinese databases including China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),Chongqing VIP(VIP),and Wan Fang, with cupping, moving cupping, flash cupping, pricking cupping,or medicinal cupping as the retrieve title or key words, and the retrieve range was from 1953 to July 15,2015.This article was to give an overall review of cupping therapy from the clinical application and mechanism research based on its application form, indications, and mechanism research progress. The results showed that there are various types of cupping methods;its indications cover multiple subjects such as internal medicine, external medicine, gynecology and pediatrics;and its major action mechanisms include negative pressure suction, increasing pain threshold, promoting dermal blood flow and improving body immunity.
