The details of the electromagnetic and the mechanical models in the simulation were described. The results show that the amplitude of coil current waveform and the current frequency decrease with the increase of the coil length. And the peak value of magnetic pressure is inversely proportional to the coil length. The distribution of the magnetic force acting on the tube is inhomogeneous while the tube is longer than the coil. The shortened coil length causes the increases of the maximum deformation and energy efficiency. The numerically calculated result and the experimental one of the final tube profile are in good agreement.展开更多

The experimental results indicated that the flow stress depends on the strain rate and the deformation temperature. The flow stress increases with an increase in strain rate at a given deformation temperature. The flow stress decreases with the deformation temperature increasing at a given strain rate. The relational expression among the flow stress, the swain rate, and the deformation temperature satisfies the Arrhenius equation. The deformation activation energy of 70Si30Al alloy during hot deformation is 866.27 kJ/mol from the Arrhenius equation.展开更多

It is shown that hot deformation of the spray formed 70Si30Al alloy is achieved by liquid flow due to isostatic pressure and movement of solid particles due to shear force. Deformation condition depends on the nucleation rate and closure rate of the cavities. The flow stress slightly varies when the difference between the nucleation rate and closure rate of the cavities is small; however, it decreases when the nucleation rate of the cavities is greater than the closure rate of the cavities.展开更多

Combined with finite element software developed forming limit and effects of process parameters on failures are investigated and proper parameters for stable forming are determined. The results show that: 1) The failures and forming limit are mainly determined by geometry and materials parameters of tube blank, fillet radius or half conical angle of die. For the process under fillet die, there exists a maximum fillet radius within which no tearing failure happens, and a maximum radius and a minimum radius range within which no buckling failure happens. For the process under conical die, there exists a maximum and minimum half conical angle range within which no tearing and buckling failures occur. 2) For both forming processes, the higher the value of material strain hardening exponent or the lower the value of relative thickness, the more impossible for tearing and buckling failures to occur, and the larger the ranges of fillet radius and half conical angle. The experiment results verify the reliability and practicability of this research.展开更多

The microstructure of the composites was observed by scanning electron microscopy. The compressive strength was investigated and compared with that of the matrix alloy AZ91D. The results show that the extrusion forming could cause fracture of the whisker, but reduce the holes in the composite during impregnation and improve the interfacial bonding between the whisker and the matrix alloy. Compared with that of the matrix as-cast alloy AZ91D, the compressive strength of Al18B4O33w/Mg by the pressure infiltration technique was increased by 22%, while that of Al18B4O33w/Mg by the extrusion-vacuum infiltration technique was increased by 120 %.展开更多

The results show that the forming accuracy depends mainly on geometric condition rp/d0, little on tube material properties and friction condition; the relative gap △/2rp of double-walled tubes obtained decreases with Increasing rp/d0, and there is a parameter k for a given to/do or rp/t0, when rp/d0 >k, △/2rp< 1, otherwise △/2rp>1.展开更多

Discrete equations are formulated upon the moving least-squares (MLS) approximation and modified Markov variational principles for rigid-plastic/ rigid-viscoplastic (RP/RVP) material models. The penalty function is used for the incompressible condition without volumetric locking. Based on the axisymmetric mechanical model, ring tests with different friction coefficients are studied. The deformed nodal configurations and shaded contours of equivalent strains are shown by developed meshless post processor. The comparison of meshless and finite element (FE) results validates the feasibility and accuracy for meshless method to simulate metal forming process.展开更多

Three north-underthrusting (subducting), steep-dipping, high-velocity zones (bodies) are recognized at depths, which correspond to the central West Kunlun junction belt (bounded by the Kiida-Kaxtax fault on the north and Bulungkol-Kangxiwar fault on the south), Quanshuigou fault belt (whose eastward extension is the Jinshajiang fault belt) and Bangong Co-Nujiang fault belt. The geodynamic process of the basin-range junction belt generally proceeded as follows: centering around the magma source region (which largely corresponds with the Karatag terrane at the surface), the deep-seated material flowed and extended from below upward and to all sides, resulting in strong deformation (mainly extension) in the overlying lithosphere and even the upper mantle, appearance of extensional stress perpendicular to the strike of the orogenic belt in the thermal uplift region or at the top of the mantle diapir and localized thickening of the sedimentary cover (thermal subsidence in the upper crust). Three stages of the basin- and mountain-forming processes in the West Kunlun-southern Tarim basin margin may be summarized: (1) the stage of Late Jurassic-Early Cretaceous rampingrapid uplift and rapid subsidence, when north-directed thrust propagation and south-directed intracontinental subduction, was the dominant mechanism for basin- and mountain-building processes; (2) the stage of Late Cretaceous-Paleogene deep-level detachment-slow uplift and homogeneous subsidence, when the dominant mechanism for the basin- and mountain-forming processes was detachment (subhorizontal north-directed deep-level ductile shear) and its resulting lateral propagation of deep material; and (3) the stage of Neogene-present compression-rapid uplift and strong subsidence, when the basin- and mountain-forming processes were simultaneously controlled by north-vergent thrust propagation and compression. The authors summarize the processes as the “ramping-detachment-compression basin- and mountain-forming dynamic model”. The basin-range tectonics was initiated in the Late Jurassic, the Miocene-Pliocene were a major transition period for the basin- and mountain-forming mechanism and the terminal early Pleistocene tectonic movement in the main laid a foundation for the basin-and-mountain tectonic framework in the West Kunlun-southern Tarim basin margin.展开更多
