Uncertainty quantification for a flapping airfoil with a stochastic velocity deviation

An outdoor flapping wing micro air vehicle (FWMAV) should be able to withstand unpredictable perturbations in the flight condition. The responses of the time-averaged thrust coefficient and the propulsive efficiency with respect to a stochastic flight velocity deviation were numerically investigated. The deviation was assumed to obey the Gauss distribution with a mean value of zero and a specified standard deviation. The probability distributions of the flapping performances were quantified by the non-intrusive polynomial chaos method. It was observed that both of the time-averaged thrust coefficient and the propulsive efficiency obeyed Gauss-like but not the exact Gauss distribution. The velocity deviation had a large effect on the time-averaged thrust coefficient and a small effect on the propulsive efficiency. 展开更多

Road traffic congestion can inevitably de-grade road infrastructure and decrease travel efficiency in urban traffic networks,which can be relieved by employing appropriate congestion control.Accord-ing to different developmental driving forces,in this paper,the evolution of road traffic congestion control is divided into two stages.The ever-growing num-ber of advanced sensing techniques can be seen as the key driving force of the first stage,called the sens-ing stage,in which congestion control strategies ex-perienced rapid growth owing to the accessibility of traffic data.At the second stage,i.e.,the communica-tion stage,communication and computation capabil-ity can be regarded as the identifying symbols for this stage,where the ability of collecting finer-grained in-sight into transportation and mobility reality improves dramatically with advances in vehicular networks,Big Data,and artificial intelligence.Specifically,as the pre-requisite for congestion control,in this paper,ex-isting congestion detection techniques are first elab-orated and classified.Then,a comprehensive survey of the recent advances for current congestion control strategies with a focus on traffic signal control,vehi-cle route guidance,and their combined techniques is provided.In this regard,the evolution of these strate-gies with continuous development of sensing,com-munication,and computation capability are also intro-duced.Finally,the paper concludes with several re-search challenges and trends to fully promote the in-tegration of advanced techniques for traffic congestion mitigation in transportation systems. 展开更多

Recently,Internet of Things(IoT)have been applied widely and improved the quality of the daily life.However,the lightweight IoT devices can hardly implement complicated applications since they usually have limited computing resource and just can execute some simple computation tasks.Moreover,data transmission and interaction in IoT is another crucial issue when the IoT devices are deployed at remote areas without manual operation.Mobile edge computing(MEC)and unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)provide significant solutions to these problems.In addition,in order to ensure the security and privacy of data,blockchain has been attracted great attention from both academia and industry.Therefore,an UAV-assisted IoT system integrated with MEC and blockchain is pro-posed.The optimization problem in the proposed architecture is formulated to achieve the optimal trade-off between energy consumption and computation latency through jointly considering computa-tion offloading decision,spectrum resource allocation and computing resource allocation.Consider-ing this complicated optimization problem,the non-convex mixed integer problem can be transformed into a convex problem,and a distributed algorithm based on alternating direction multiplier method(ADMM)is proposed.Simulation results demonstrate the validity of this scheme. 展开更多
