Proton conducting solid oxide fuel cell(H-SOFC)is an emerging energy conversion device,with lower activation energy and higher energy utilization efficiency.However,the deficiency of highly active cathode materials still remains a major challenge for the development of H-SOFC.Therefore,in this work,K_(2)NiF_(4)-type cathode materials Pr_(2-x)Ba_(x)Ni_(0.6)Cu_(0.4)O_(4+δ)(x=0,0.1,0.2,0.3),single-phase tripleconducting(e-/O^(2-)/H^(+))oxides,are prepared for intermediate temperature H-SOFCs and exhibit good oxygen reduction reaction activity.The investigation demonstrates that doping Ba into Pr_(2-x)BaxNi_(0.6)Cu_(0.4)O_(4+δ) can increase its electrochemical performance through enhancing electrical conductivity,oxygen vacancy concentration and proton conductivity.EIS tests are carried at 750℃ and the minimum polarization impedances are obtained when x=0.2,which are 0.068 Ω·cm^(2) in air and 1.336 Ω·cm^(2) in wet argon,respectively.The peak power density of the cell with Pr_(1.8)Ba_(0.2)Ni_(0.6)Cu_(0.4)O_(4+δ) cathode is 298 mW·cm^(-2) at 750℃ in air with humidified hydrogen as fuel.Based on the above results,Ba-doped Pr_(2-x)Ba_(x)Ni_(0.6)Cu_(0.4)O_(4+δ) can be a good candidate material for SOFC cathode applications. 展开更多

Ordered Nafion ionomers decorated polypyrrole nanowires for advanced electrochemical applications

Fabrication of novel electrode materials with ordered proton-migration channels is an effective strategy to enhance the proton conductivity of the electrode for polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. Here we report the electrochemical fabrication of ordered Nafion?ionomers decorated polypyrrole nanowires to construct the ordered proton-migration channels. Based on the electrostatic interaction between Nafion?ionomers and the polymer intermediate, ordered Nafion?ionomers decorated polypyrrole nanowires could be fabricated via chronoamperometry with varying contents of Nafionionomers. The morphologies, charge-storage performances, electron conductivity and proton conductivity of the composites are investigated by scanning electron microscopy, cyclic-voltammetry, galvanostatic charge–discharge measurement and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. With the modification effect of Nafionionomers on polypyrrole nanowires, the composite shows greater ordered structure relative to another without Nafion?ionomers and the electrochemical performances change with the content of Nafion?ionomers.The composite could achieve a high specific capacitance of 356 F/g at 1 A/g with a 0.62-fold enhancement compared to polypyrrole nanowires without Nafion?ionomers. It also displays a superior electrical conductivity of 49 S/cm and a quite high proton conductivity of 0.014 S/cm at working conditions of fuel cells, which are associated with the requirements of fuel cells and have the potential to be the electrode material for a large range of electrochemical energy conversion devices. 展开更多

Contemporary nanostructured transparent electrodes for use in solar cells require high transmittance and high conductivity, dictating nanostructures with high aspect ratios. Optical haze is an equally important yet unstudied parameter in transparent electrodes for solar cells that is also determined by the geometry of the nanostructures that compose the electrode. In this work, the effect of the silver nanowire diameter on the optical haze values in the visible spectrum was investigated using films composed of wires with either small diameters (N60 nm) or large diameters (~150 nm). Finite difference time domain (FDTD) simulations and experimental transmittance data confirm that smaller diameter nanowires form higher performing transparent conducting electrode (TCE) films according to the current figure of merit. While maintaining near constant transmittance and conductivity for each film, however, it was observed experimentally that films composed of silver nanowires with larger diameters have a higher haze factor than films with smaller diameters. This confirms the FDTD simulations of the haze factor for single nanowires with similarly large and small diameters. This is the first record of haze properties for Ag NWs that have been simulated or experimentally measured, and also the first evidence that the current figure of merit for TCEs is insufficient to evaluate their performance in solar cell devices. 展开更多

This study investigated the resistive switching characteristics of the Ni/HfCVPt structure for nonvolatile memory application.The Ni/HfO_2/Pt device showed bipolar resistive switching(RS) without a forming process, and the formation and rupture of conducting filaments are responsible for the resistive switching phenomenon.In addition,the device showed some excellent memory performances,including a large on/off ratio(〉 3×10~5),very good data retention(〉 10~3 s @ 200℃) and uniformity of switching parameters.Considering these results,the Ni/HfO_2/Pt device has the potential for nonvolatile memory applications. 展开更多

A good proton conductivity of 5.87×10^-4S/cm was recorded at 70℃ and a relative humidity of75% in alternating current(AC) impedance experiment, which sheds a new light on the design of proton conduction materials based on coordination compounds. 展开更多
