The plasticizer not only increases the conductivity of the blends but also decreases the electrochemical interface resistance between the blend and lithium electrode. In our previous study, metals have been used as absorbers in the clear plastic laser transmission welding. The effects of metal thermal conductivity on the welding quality are investigated in the present work. Four metals with distinctly different thermal conductivities, i.e., titanium, nickel, molybdenum, and copper, are selected as light absorbers. The lap welding is conducted with an 808 nm diode laser and simulation experiments are also conducted. Nickel electroplating test is carried out to minimize the side-effects from different light absorptivities of different metals. The results show that the welding with an absorber of higher thermal conductivity can accommodate higher laser input power before smoking, which produces a wider and stronger welding seam.The positive role of the higher thermal conductivity can be attributed to the fact that a desirable thermal field distribution for the molecular diffusion and entanglement is produced from the case with a high thermal conductivity. 展开更多

Copper is an essential element in the environment and the human body, but at the same time, exposure to high concentrations of Cu2+ions will potentially lead to acute toxicity and various neurodegenerative diseases. Thus, it is of great significance for the development of highly sensitive and selective strategies for the detection of Cu2+ions. Here, we report a highly efficient poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonic acid) (PEDOT:PSS) based organic electrochemical transistor (OECT) sensor, for real-time Cu2+ions detection. The detection limit of the OECT device is as low as 100 nM, far beyond the sensitivity required for practical uses. The detection mechanism may base on the chemical reactivity of Cu2+ions oxiding the PEDOT:PSS in solution both in absence and presence of the base potential. The OECT devices also exhibit excellent selective response to Cu2+ions rather than other metal ions. Finally, we also demonstrate the determination of Cu2+ions in tap water with the OECT Cu2+sensor. Considering the high sensitivity and selectivity, as well as the real-time and low cost features of our Cu2+OECT sensor, it is ideal for portable and disposable applications for environment monitoring and public health. © 2017, Science China Press and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg. 展开更多

An improved Pan-sharpening algorithm appropriate to vegetation applications is proposed to fuse a set of IKONOS panchromatic (PAN) and multispectral image (MSI) data. The normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) is introduced to evaluate the quality of fusion products. Compared with other methods such as principal component analysis (PCA), wavelet transform (WT), and curvelet transform (CT), this algorithm has a better trade-off between keeping the spatial and spectral information. The NDVI performances indicate that the fusion product of this method is more suitable for vegetation applications than the other methods. 展开更多
