There are three elements underpinning China's confidence in its culture. First, China boasts a solid foundation for its fine traditional culture. This is an advanced culture with a long history and is profound, far-reaching, full of vitality and highly influential. It is an integration of diversities sharing the same root, which gives the culture its energy. On the one hand, it is continuingly absorbing other cultures; on the other hand, it always binds the nation together with the same spirit. In addition, traditional Chinese culture passionately puts people first, reflects the common grounds of human cultures, represents the common aspirations of human cultures, and as a result, its advanced nature and social values are recognized worldwide. Second, adherence to Marxism is a source of effective guidance for China's cultural development. Marxism is a crystallization of advanced human culture. It reveals culture's nature, characteristics, structure, functions and development patterns and provides the well-conceived methodology guiding cultural development. In terms of worldviews, methodologies and values, it offers a reasonable premise upon which people can understand, handle and carry out cultural development. In addition, it keeps examining and criticizing these premises and restructuring them. This makes cultural development, continuous, standard, pioneering and creative. Third, people's creativity is a source of strength for their confidence in their culture. The people are creators of culture and their practice, and creation boost cultural development. The Chinese nation is creative and is highly capable of cultural creation. The great practice of building socialism with Chinese characteristics is an inexhaustible source of the people's cultural creation. To maintain their confidence in Chinese culture, the Chinese people must emancipate their minds, develop new concepts, analyze new developments, review their fresh experiences, and keep creating and developing socialist new culture. 展开更多

Inclusive culture is a dynamic pattern of cultural integration and innovative development formed in the interactions between man and nature, man and society, and man and others. Chinese culture is among the sources of inclusive culture. Being inheritable, open, assimilative, innovative and self–driven, this inclusive culture significantly contributes to China's ideological evolution, ethnic integration, religious development, economic openness, literature and art prosperity, as well as political wisdom in building a community with a shared future for mankind. Inclusiveness is key to the lasting and sustainable development of traditional Chinese culture. During China's construction of a great modern socialist country, the CPC's leadership over cultural innovation and development must be strengthened; a strong cultural confidence must always be maintained; the prosperity of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics must be further enhanced; the sustainable and integrated development of socialist culture with Chinese characteristics must be promoted; people's need for an enriched cultural life must be satisfied; and more efforts must be made to build a community with a shared future for mankind. Only in this way can the light of China's inclusive culture illuminate the future of globalization. 展开更多

China's pioneering the Belt and Road initiative not only provides a broad space for China's culture industry to enhance international competitiveness, but also puts forward a major project. It includes: optimize and integrate strategic resources through connectivity, cultivate export-oriented cultural enterprises to promote the main body of the industry, optimize the structure of cultural trade by expanding cultural services exports, and build win-win cooperation networks through the connections between Silk Road Cities. This will both contribute to the global distribution and resource allocation of China's culture industry, and benefit the construction of mutually beneficial and cooperative international culture industry communities, so the countries and people of the Belt and Road regions can share their cultural wealth. 展开更多

With the spread of the global financial turmoil, China is under growing tension from its large population, limited resource, environment problems, and losing its competitive edge in the world as exports are being driven down by shrinking demand abroad as well as higher costs. Despite challenges, China still has a great potential to develop its domestic demand and a solid financial system. Under such circumstance, we should enhance confidence. It is imperative for us to perceive favorable conditions and positive factors for acting against the negative outside environment and promoting development in a scientific way. 展开更多

China's traditional business cultureConfucian thought has had a profound influence on the way Chinese people do business. For example, "etiquette," the basic element of Confucianism, originated from the ritual worship of, and sacrifice to, the ancestors. Later it developed into a set of moral rules based On kinship and hierarchy, and has been weaved into five interpersonal relations: those between ruler and subject, father and son, husband and wife, brothers and friends. Not only did it play a role in solidifying patriarchal-feudal relationship, but it is deeply rooted in the living habits and customs of today and has become a force which regulates social interactions and behaviors. Since ancient times, the principle that "an even temper brings wealth" has been an essential part of Confucianism. 展开更多

Clarifying China’s position in the global system is an important logical basis for developing national diplomacy.Although much research has been done on China’s development status, most studies have been based on country comparisons or institutional en-vironment.In today’s networked era in which the global economy, trade, personnel, and information are closely connected, studies on China’s global position and its status changes and influencing factors in multiple contact networks are still insufficient. In this study, from the perspective of diverse global contact networks,we constructed economic, cultural, and political influence indices to explore the changes and influencing factors on China’s status in the global system from 2005 to 2018.The results show that during the study period,China’s global influence in the fields of economic ties, cultural exchanges, and political contacts increased significantly, but its influ-ence in the fields of cultural exchanges and political contacts lagged far economic ties. The pattern of China’s economic influence on various economies around the world has shown a transformation from an‘upright pyramid’to an‘inverted pyramid’structure. The proportion of these economies in low-influence zones has decreased from more than 60%in 2005 to less than 20%in 2018.China’s cultural and political influence on various economies around the world has increased significantly;however, for the former, the percentage of high-influence areas is still less than 20%,whereas for the latter the percentage of these economies in medium-and high-influence areas is still less than 50%.Analyses such as a scatter plot matrix show that geographical proximity, economic globalization, close cooperation with developing countries, and a proactive and peaceful foreign policy are important factors in improving China’s status in the diverse global network system. 展开更多
