Within the realm of medicine, the evaluation of QoL frequently involves examining how disease exerts a detrimental impact, diminishing the enjoyment and fulfilment experienced by the individual. Dermatological diseases have been found to exert a substantial negative influence on the QoL of dogs and their owners due to nuisance and stress related to the disease but also due to the caregiver burden. In the management of bacterial skin infections, topical therapy is commonly administered alongside systemic antibiotics. Nonetheless, the protracted duration of treatment and difficulties in ensuring owner compliance can introduce a significant caregiver burden, potentially exacerbating the challenges associated with these conditions. Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the impact on the quality of life (QoL) of dogs with dermatologic diseases after fluorescent light energy (FLE) treatment. Methods: The study was an open, prospective, multicentric clinical trial that included dogs with various dermatological conditions. The dogs received FLE treatment once weekly until the clinical resolution was achieved. Owners completed a validated questionnaire to assess the QoL of their dogs before and after therapy. Results: Thirty-five dogs with deep pyoderma, interdigital furunculosis, pyotraumatic dermatitis, wounds and perianal fistulas were included. All dogs received two sessions of fluorescent light energy once a week. Median treatment duration was 9 weeks for perianal fistula, 7 weeks for interdigital furunculosis, 5 weeks for deep pyoderma, 3 weeks for wounds and 1.5 weeks for pyotraumatic dermatitis. Complete remission was noted in 86% of dogs, and 14% showed an improvement but partial remission. The majority of owners reported a positive impact on their dogs’ QoL after therapy, and 74% of the dogs showed at least a 50% reduction in QoL scores. Conclusion: Fluorescent light energy has been shown to exert beneficial effects on the healing of dermatological diseases and the quality of life (QoL) in dogs and their owners, whether used as a standalone treatment or in combination with standard care therapies. Additionally, it was well-tolerated by the dogs. This study emphasizes the significance of considering both the owner’s and dog’s QoL when evaluating the therapeutic efficacy of dermatological treatments.展开更多

In this paper, we propose a new Q extraction method based on the energy ratio before and after the wavelet attenuation, named the energy-ratio method(ERM). The proposed method uses multipoint signal data in the time domain to estimate the wavelet energy without invoking the source wavelet spectrum, which is necessary in conventional Q extraction methods, and is applicable to any source wavelet spectrum; however, it requires high-precision seismic data. Forward zero-offset VSP modeling suggests that the ERM can be used for reliable Q inversion after nonintrinsic attenuation(geometric dispersion, refl ection, and transmission loss) compensation. The application to real zero-offset VSP data shows that the Q values extracted by the ERM and spectral ratio methods are identical, which proves the reliability of the new method.展开更多

The results showed that Wnt5a gene expression level was the highest in Jinhua (JHP) pigs, followed by Zhongbai (ZBP), DurocxZhongbai (DZB), and Duroc×Yorkshire×Landrace (DYL) pigs, with significant differences between ZBP, DZB, and DYL (P〈0.05). This genotypic order was reversed for Wnt7a, Wnt10b, and Wnt11 expression, with JHP and DYL having the lowest and highest expressive levels, respectively. Wnt5a expression was negatively correlated with pH,5 min and ApH (P〈0.01), some glycolytic markers (P〈0.05), and positively correlated with meat color (a*), shear force (SF) value (P〈0.05), myosion heavy chain (MyHC) I mRNA proportion (P〈0.01), turnover ratio of creatine phosphate (CP), and creatine kinase (CK) activity (P〈0.05). Opposite correlations were observed for Writ2, Wnt7a, Wnt10b, and Wnt11. These results revealed that Wnt5a, Wnt7a, Wnt10b, and Wnt11 gene expressions in adult porcine muscle contributed to differences between porcine genotypes and affected pork quality. Wnt5a gene expression could be beneficial for the formation of high quality pork by regulating muscle fiber types and postmortem energy metabolism.展开更多

The uptake of renewable energy technology by residential consumers in Australia in the past decade has transformed the electricity supply and demand paradigm. Thus, this paper reviews Australian research on consumer behavior, understanding and choices in order to identify gaps in knowledge. As the role of the consumer transforms, there is a critical need to understand the ways that consumers may respond to future energy policies to mitigate unforeseen negative social and economic consequence of programs designed to achieve positive environmental outcomes.展开更多

Poor links result in retransmissions and more energy consumption. So link quality is an important issue in the design of routing protocol which is not considered in most traditional clustered routing protocols. A based on energy and link quality's routing protocol( EQRP) is proposed to optimize the clustering mechanism which takes into account energy balance and link quality factors. EQRP takes the advantage of high quality links to increase success rate of single communication and reduce the cost of communication. Simulation shows that, compared with traditional clustered protocol,EQRP can perform 40% better,in terms of life cycle of the whole network.展开更多

Increased protein consumption by mammals leads to elevated feed costs and increased nitrogen release into the environment. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of dietary protein/energy ratio on the growth performance, carcass traits, meat quality, and plasma metabolites of pigs of different genotypes. Methods: Bama mini-pigs and Landrace pigs were randomly assigned to two dietary treatment groups (Chinese conventional diet with low protein/energy ratio or National Research Council diet with high protein/energy ratio; n = 24 per treatment) in a 2 x 2 factorial arrangement. Blood and muscle samples were collected at the end of the nursery, growing, and finishing phases. Results: We observed significant interactions (P 〈 0.05) between breed and diet for total fat percentage, intramuscular fat (IMF) content, protein content in biceps femoris (BF) muscle, and plasma urea nitrogen (UN) concentration in the nursery phase; for average daily gain (ADG), average daily feed intake (ADFI), dry matter, IMF content in psoas major (PM) muscle, and plasma total protein and albumin concentrations in the growing phase; and for drip loss and plasma UN concentration in the finishing phase. Breed influenced (P 〈 0.05) growth performance, carcass traits, and meat quality, but not plasma metabolites. Throughout the trial, Landrace pigs showed significantly higher (P 〈 0.0_5) ADG, ADFI, dressing percentage, lean mass rate, and loin-eye area than did Bama mini-pigs, but significantly lower (P 〈 0.0.5) feed/gain ratio, fat percentage, backfat thickness, and IMF content. Dietary protein/energy ratio influenced the pH value, chemical composition of BF and PM muscles, and plasma activities of glutamic-pyruvic transaminase and gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, and plasma concentration of UN. Conclusions: Compared with Landrace pigs, Bama mini-pigs showed slower growth and lower carcass performance, but had better meat quality. Moreover, unlike Landrace pigs, the dietary protein/energy ratio did not affect the growth performance of Bama mini-pigs. These results suggest that, in swine production, low dietary protein/energy ratio may be useful for reducing feed costs and minimizing the adverse effects of ammonia release into the environment.展开更多

A total of 216 (Exp. 1) and 360 (Exp. 2 ) barrows ( Yorkshire × Landrace× Duroc ) were allotted to one of six treatments (n =6). The experimental diets were based on corn and soybean meal, and consisted of a high-CP diet that contained approximately 16% CP and 2.50 Mcal/kg of NE as well as five low-CP diets in which the CP level of the diet was reduced by approximately four percentage units but was supplemented with crystalline lysine, methionine, threonine, and tryptophan. The low CP diets provided 2.64, 2.58, 2.50, 2.42, or 2.36 Mcal/kg in Exp. 1 as well as 2.45, 2.40, 2.35, 2.30, or 2.25 Mcai/kg in Exp.2. In Exp. 1, a linear (P=0.03) increase in weight gain was observed with decreasing NE level while the ratio of gain to feed was unaffect- ed (P 〉 0.05) by NE level. There was a linear in-crease (P = 0.01 ) in the percentage of fat-free lean and a linear decrease ( P = 0.03 ) in the percentage of total fat with decreasing NE levels. In Exp. 2, a sig- nificant quadratic ( P = 0.03 ) effect of NE level was observed for weight gain. The ratio of gain to feed demonstrated a significant (P 〈0.01 ) quadratic effect with pigs fed 2.35 and 2.40 Mcal/kg of NE, Pigs fed the diet containing 2.40 Mcal/kg of NE had the lowest percentage of total fat (36. 95% ) and the highest percentage of fat-free lean (49.36%). The overall results of these experiments indicate that feed- ing either a surplus or a deficiency of NE is detrimen- tal to both pig performance and carcass composition when low CP diets supplemented with CAA are fed. Our results indicate that when the CP content of the diet is reduced by four percentage units and the diet is properly supplemented with CAA, maximum per- formance and carcass quality will be obtained if the diet provides approximately 2.42 Mcal/kg of NE.展开更多

Traditional analytical methods mainly focus on a partial energy loss during the vibration process of the CVG resonator, thus are not accurate for the mechanical Q factor prediction. Therefore an integrated model including air damping loss, surface defect loss, support loss, thermoelastic damping loss and internal friction loss is proposed to obtain the mechanical Q factor of the CVG resonator. Based on structural dynamics and energy dissipation analysis, the contribution of each energy loss to the total mechanical Q factor is quantificationally analyzed. For the resonator with radius ranging from 10 mm to 20 mm, its mechanical Q factor is mainly related to the support loss, thermoelastic damping loss and internal friction loss, which are fundamentally determined by the geometric sizes and material properties of the resonator. In addition, resonators made of alloy 3J53 (Ni42CrTiA1), with different sizes, were experimentally fabricated to test the mechanical Q factor. The theoretical model is well verified by the experimental data, thus provides an effective theoretical method to design and predict the mechanical Q factor of the CVG resonator.展开更多

文摘Background: Quality of life (QoL) is a term used to evaluate general well-being, and it is defined as ‘the degree to which an individual enjoys his or her life. 文摘Background:Flammulina velutipes stem waste(FVS)is the by-product of mushroom industry. The objectives of this study were to determine the available energy and amino acid digestibility of FVS fed to pigs, and to evaluate the effects of dietary FVS inclusion on growth performance, biochemical profile of serum, fecal short chain fatty acid(SCFA)concentration, carcass traits, meat quality, intestinal morphology and microflora of pigs.In Exp.1,twelve crossbred barrows with initial body weight(IBW)of 37.48±4.31 kg were randomly allotted to 2 dietary treatments, including a corn basal diet and an experimental diet containing 24.35%FVS.In Exp.2,twelve barrows fitted with an ileal T-cannula(IBW:32.56±1.67 kg)were randomly allotted to 2 dietary treatments, which included a N-free diet and an experimental diet containing 40.0%FVS.In Exp.3,ninety growing pigs(IBW:63.98±6.89 kg)were allotted to 1 of 3 treatment diets for 63 d,including a basal diet and 2 experimental diets with 2.5%and 5%FVS,respectively.Results:The digestible energy(DE)and metabolizable energy(ME)of FVS were 4.58 and 4.06 MJ/kg on dry matter basis, respectively, and the standardized ileal digestibility(SID)of indispensable AAs ranged from 17.50%to 59.47%.Pigs fed diets with 2.5%FVS showed no difference on average daily gain(ADG)and gain to feed ratio(G/F).Although dietary 5%FVS inclusion impaired apparent total tract digestibility(ATTD)of organic matter and gross energy,it elevated the SCFA concentration(P≤0.04)in gut and antioxidant capacity in serum. In addition, dietary FVS inclusion depressed the backfat thickness(P=0.03)in pigs. The longissimus dorsi muscle of pigs fed FVS revealed higher n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid concentration and optimized fatty acid composition.Dietary 2.5%FVS inclusion also improved the intestinal development and health by increasing the villius height to crypt depth ratio(V/C)in jejunum(P<0.01),and promoting microbial diversity and beneficial microbiota proliferation. Conclusions:It is feasible to include moderate content of FVS as an unconventional fiber ingredient in diet of growingfinishing pigs.

文摘The quality factor Q, which reflects the energy attenuation of seismic waves in subsurface media, is a diagnostic tool for hydrocarbon detection and reservoir characterization. The application to real zero-offset VSP data shows that the Q values extracted by the ERM and spectral ratio methods are identical, which proves the reliability of the new method.

文摘This study investigated the expression profiles of Writ genes in adult porcine Iongissimus dorsi (LD) from different porcine genotypes and their associations with meat quality. Wnt5a gene expression could be beneficial for the formation of high quality pork by regulating muscle fiber types and postmortem energy metabolism.

文摘As a substitute for toxic cadmium coatings in the aerospace industry,zinc-nickel coatings have excellent application prospects, and their properties can be improved by adding molybdenum. In this study,laser-assisted electrodeposition is used to improve the surface quality and properties of Zn–Ni–Mo coatings, with investigation of how laser energy in the range of 0–21.1μJ affects their element content, surface morphology, crystal phase, microhardness, residual internal stress, and corrosion resistance. The laser irradiation accelerates the electrodeposition, refines the grain size, improves the hydrogen adsorption, and reduces the residual tensile stress, and a laser energy of 15.4μJ gives the highest Ni and Mo contents and the lowest Zn content,as well as the optimum surface morphology, microhardness, residual internal stress, and corrosion resistance of the coating.

文摘[Objectives]Protein energy ratio refers to the proportional relationship between protein and energy levels in animal diets,i.e.,the grams of crude protein corresponding to every megacalorie of energy, which is generally expressed as CP:ME or CP:DE.This study was conducted to investigate the effects of different diets on fattening and slaughter performance and meat quality traits for"L(Large Yorkshire)×L(Landrace)"crossbred pigs.[Methods]Eighteen piglets of L×L crossbred with similar body weights about 51 kg were selected. The piglets were divided into 3 groups randomly and each group was assigned to 3 replicates with 2 piglets in a replicate.Group A was fed diet Ⅰ (control diet),group B was fed the same diet of group A in the first month of the trial but fed diet Ⅱ in second month, and group C consumed diet Ⅲ.All the pigs were fed in the same feeding condition for two months except the different diets during the trial. One pig in similar body weight from each replicate was slaughtered for the determination of slaughter performance and meat quality traits in the end of the trial.[Results]The average daily feed intake(ADFI)of pigs from group B was only(2.32±0.52)kg and significantly lower than those from group A and group C(P<0.05),but no difference was found in average daily gain(ADG) and feed/gain(P>0.05).Also,no differences occurred in the carcass length, back fat thickness, longissimus muscle (LM) area and dressing percentage(P>0.05).In addition,no differences were found in the meat quality traits of shear force, meat color,pH_(45 min),pH_(24 h) and cooking loss(P>0.05).However,the water-holding capacity of meat from group C was(2.58±0.02)ms and significantly lower than that of(2.80±0.20)ms from group A(P<0.05).Although the contents of glutamic acid and cystine in LM from group B was significantly lower than those from group A and group C(P<0.05),no differences occurred in the contents of other amino acids, the total amino acid and total flavor amino acid among the three groups(P>0.05).However,the inosine monophosphate content of LM from group C was only(331.80±11.53)mg/100 g and significantly lower than those of(361.00±6.36)and(366.37±4.80)mg/100 g from group A and B(P<0.05).Even though no differences were found in the contents of DM and CP in LM among the three groups of pigs, the content of intramuscular fat(IMF)in LM from group B and group C was increased by 45.6%and 46.58%respectively from that of group A(P<0.05),but no difference occurred between group B and C(P>0.05).[Conclusions]DietsⅡ and Ⅲ in this study caused no differences in fattening and slaughter performance of L×L crossbred pigs, but the effects on some meat traits were still significant, especially on the improvement of intramuscular fat in experimental pigs. Therefore, they could improve the meat quality of crossbred pigs to a certain extent.
文摘In order to incorporate smart elements into distribution networks at ITELCA laboratories in Bogotá-Colombia, a Machine-to-Machine-based solution has been developed. This solution aids in the process of low-cost electrical fault location, which contributes to improving quality of service, particularly by shortening interruption time spans in mid-voltage grids. The implementation makes use of a GENEKO modem that exploits its digital inputs together with a full coverage of certain required auxiliary services so as to generate proper detection signals whenever failure currents occur;which allows incorporating the latest failure detection technology into the system.
文摘This paper critically examines research on consumer attitudes and behavior towards solar photovoltaic (PV) and renewable energy technology in Australia. The uptake of renewable energy technology by residential consumers in Australia in the past decade has transformed the electricity supply and demand paradigm. Thus, this paper reviews Australian research on consumer behavior, understanding and choices in order to identify gaps in knowledge. As the role of the consumer transforms, there is a critical need to understand the ways that consumers may respond to future energy policies to mitigate unforeseen negative social and economic consequence of programs designed to achieve positive environmental outcomes.
文摘As the use of mobile devices continues to rise, trust administration will significantly improve security in routing the guaranteed quality of service(QoS)supply in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks(MANET)due to the mobility of the nodes. There is no continuance of network communication between nodes in a delay-tolerant network(DTN).DTN is designed to complete recurring connections between nodes. This approach proposes a dynamic source routing protocol(DSR)based on a feed-forward neural network(FFNN)and energybased random repetition trust calculation in DTN.If another node is looking for a node that swerved off of its path in this situation, routing will fail since it won’t recognize it.However,in the suggested strategy, nodes do not stray from their pathways for routing. It is only likely that the message will reach the destination node if the nodes encounter their destination or an appropriate transitional node on their default mobility route, based on their pattern of mobility. The EBRRTC-DTN algorithm(Energy based random repeat trust computation)is based on the time that has passed since nodes last encountered the destination node.Compared to other existing techniques, simulation results show that this process makes the best decision and expertly determines the best and most appropriate route to send messages to the destination node, which improves routing performance, increases the number of delivered messages, and decreases delivery delay. Therefore, the suggested method is better at providing better QoS(Quality of Service)and increasing network lifetime, tolerating network system latency.

文摘Influenced by the environment and nodes status, the quality of link is not always stable in actual wireless sensor networks( WSNs). Simulation shows that, compared with traditional clustered protocol,EQRP can perform 40% better,in terms of life cycle of the whole network.

文摘The air continues to be an extremely substantial part of survival on earth.Air pollution poses a critical risk to humans and the environment.Using sensor-based structures,we can get air pollutant data in real-time.However,the sensors rely upon limited-battery sources that are immaterial to be alternated repeatedly amid extensive broadcast costs associated with real-time applications like air quality monitoring.Consequently, air quality sensor-based monitoring structures are lifetime-constrained and prone to the untimely loss of connectivity.Effective energy administration measures must therefore be implemented to handle the outlay of power dissipation. In this study, the authors propose outdoor air quality monitoring using a sensor network with an enhanced lifetime-enhancing cooperative data gathering and relaying algorithm(E-LCDGRA).LCDGRA is a cluster-based cooperative event-driven routing scheme with dedicated relay allocation mechanisms that tackle the problems of event-driven clustered WSNs with immobile gateways. The adapted variant, named E-LCDGRA,enhances the LCDGRA algorithm by incorporating a non-beacon-aided CSMA layer-2 un-slotted protocol with a back-off mechanism. The performance of the proposed E-LCDGRA is examined with other classical gathering schemes, including IEESEP and CERP,in terms of average lifetime, energy consumption, and delay.
文摘Linear accelerators equipped with multileaf collimators (MLC) are becoming more common and are widely used in the intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT). There is an imperative need to ensure the commissioning specification of the linear accelerators for the sake of quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC). This paper is aimed to investigate the role of AGFA high-energy CR (Computed Radiography) in calibrating dynamic multileaf col- limators and evaluating the accuracy of the leaf position. The result shows that AGFA high-energy CR can easily and conveniently be used to calibrate MLC and verify its position. Hence, the application of AGFA high-energy CR is proved to be an accurate and time-saving method for routine MLC QC, especially when MLC calibration adjustments are required.
文摘In this paper, the hybrid photovoltaic-thermoelectric generator(PVTEG)combined dynamic voltage restorer(DVR)system is proposed for the power quality disturbances compensation in a single-phase distribution system. The stable and precise level of input voltage is essential for the smooth and trouble-free operation of the electrically sensitive loads which are connected at the utility side to avoid system malfunctions. In this context, the hybrid PV-TEG energy module combined DVR system is proposed in this paper. With the support of the hybrid energy module, the DVR will perform the power quality disturbances compensation effectively with needed voltage and/or power. In the proposed system, the PV and TEG energy sources are connected electrically in series to produce adequate voltage for the DVR operation and the fractional factor-based variable incremental conduction(FFVINC)maximum power point tracking(MPPT)control algorithm is employed to extract the possible maximum power from the PV array. The intelligent fuzzy logic controller(FLC)is chosen for implementing the MPPT control algorithm. The half-bridge voltage source inverter(VSI)circuit and in-phase voltage compensation technique are used in the DVR for better power quality disturbances compensation. The performance and usefulness of the proposed DVR system are investigated by an extensive simulation study with four different modes of operation, the study results are confirmed that the proposed system promptly identifies the power quality disturbances for compensation. Moreover, the investigation proved that the combined PV and TEG energy module can provide better energy efficiency in converting solar irradiation into electricity.
文摘Reliability,QoS and energy consumption are three important concerns of cloud service providers. Most of the current research on reliable task deployment in cloud computing focuses on only one or two of the three concerns. However, these three factors have intrinsic trade-off relationships. The existing studies show that load concentration can reduce the number of servers and hence save energy. In this paper,we deal with the problem of reliable task deployment in data centers, with the goal of minimizing the number of servers used in cloud data centers under the constraint that the job execution deadline can be met upon single server failure. We propose a QoS-Constrained,Reliable and Energy-efficient task replica deployment(QSRE)algorithm for the problem by combining task replication and re-execution.For each task in a job that cannot finish executing by re-execution within deadline,we initiate two replicas for the task:main task and task replica. Each main task runs on an individual server. The associated task replica is deployed on a backup server and completes part of the whole task load before the main task failure.Different from the main tasks, multiple task replicas can be allocated to the same backup server to reduce the energy consumption of cloud data centers by minimizing the number of servers required for running the task replicas.Specifically,QSRE assigns the task replicas with the longest and the shortest execution time to the backup servers in turn, such that the task replicas can meet the QoS-specified job execution deadline under the main task failure. We conduct experiments through simulations. The experimental results show that QSRE can effectively reduce the number of servers used, while ensuring the reliability and QoS of job execution.

文摘Background: The protein/energy ratio is important for the production performance and utilization of available feed resources by animals. These results suggest that, in swine production, low dietary protein/energy ratio may be useful for reducing feed costs and minimizing the adverse effects of ammonia release into the environment.

文摘Two experiments were conducted to in- vestigate the effects of net energy (NE) level on the performance and carcass traits of finishing pigs fed low crude protein (CP) diets supplemented with crystalline amino acids (CAA). Our results indicate that when the CP content of the diet is reduced by four percentage units and the diet is properly supplemented with CAA, maximum per- formance and carcass quality will be obtained if the diet provides approximately 2.42 Mcal/kg of NE.

文摘Mechanical Quality factor(Q factor) of the resonator is an important parameter for the cylinder vibratory gyroscope(CVG). The theoretical model is well verified by the experimental data, thus provides an effective theoretical method to design and predict the mechanical Q factor of the CVG resonator.
