The issue of myopia among children and adoles... Currently, the number of myopic people in China has reached as high as 600 million, and it shows a trend of “early onset, high incidence, and a high degree of severity”. The issue of myopia among children and adolescents has attracted widespread attention from all sectors of society. Comprehensive myopia prevention and control efforts have been launched nationwide. Popular science education, vision screening, and improving visual environments are effective measures for preventing myopia. However, among the target audience for comprehensive myopia prevention and control, the preschool children group has been neglected, and the work of myopia prevention and control for this group has been significantly weakened and marginalized. Due to insufficient awareness of prevention and control, the hyperopia reserve in the preschool children group is being continuously depleted, leading to the early onset of myopia. In light of this situation, the focus of myopia prevention and control needs to shift forward, and it is worth exploring and pondering how college students with a background in optometry can develop entertaining and engaging popular science education materials and methods. 展开更多

BACKGROUND Cancer presents a significant public health challenge in China,necessitating broad collaboration across society.The Chinese government has articulated a goal to increase the overall five-year survival rate for cancer by 15%by 2030.Achieving this objective requires not only advances in medical technology,but also an im-provement in the dissemination of knowledge pertaining to cancer prevention and treatment.AIM To provide a comprehensive understanding of the status of cancer prevention and level of popularization in China in 2023.METHODS From January 2023 to May 2023,online questionnaires were distributed to 3000 participants,including medical personnel,patients with cancer,their families,and the general public.There were 2711 valid responses,covering the entire nation.RESULTS A total of 1020 medical personnel and 1691 patients with cancer,their family members,and the general public participated in the survey.Among medical personnel,93.2%had popularized cancer health.Commonly addressed topics included cancer prevention(85.9%)and cancer screening(77.8%).Primary challenges included time constraints(73.9%),insufficient personnel and material support(66.7%),and uncertainty as to where to begin(49.3%).Among patients with cancer,their family members,and the general public,93.4%reported reading or watching cancer science popularization materials and 56.9%expressed a desire for deeper understanding.The most sought-after topics in cancer science popularization included cancer screening(80.2%)and cancer prevention(75.8%).The greatest challenge encountered in accessing cancer health popularization was an abundance of misinformation(67.5%).CONCLUSION Most clinical doctors,patients,family,and the general public wish to participate in cancer education.However,improvement in the quality of content in cancer prevention and treatment education is required. 展开更多

This study presents a detailed model and its subsequent assessment for the development and optimized delivery of continuing education for the forensic science community.Online continuing education is on the rise as this modality of content dissemination allows for accessibility,convenience,and affordability.The model,which includes an educational needs assessment,gap analysis,online content delivery and archival,was evaluated through the launch of a global training event/symposium series.The four-year study of over 6000 participants representing>75 countries provides empirical support for the model based upon registration/attendance data and participant self-assessment surveys.Best practices are identified relative to content and format,operational excellence,technology,and financing of the event.Future directions along with opportunities to further enhance the model are also discussed. 展开更多

At the present time,new state compulsory standards for school education,standard curricula,and curricula have been developed.The programs of higher and postgraduate education do not take into account changes in educational curricula of secondary education.The future specialists of pedagogical universities are teachers of the school.Therefore,graduates of universities on pedagogical specialties,including scientific direction,should be profoundly aware of the content of subjects studied in secondary education.It is very important to understand the need to ensure the continuity of educational curricula of higher pedagogical and general secondary education in conditions of updating the content of education.The relevance of the research topic is due to the lack of continuity in the educational programs of higher pedagogical and general secondary education in conditions of updating the content of education;discrepancy of professional competences of young pedagogical staff,graduates of higher educational institutions,to the conditions of the updated content of school education;the lack of fundamental and applied research to date,considering the theoretical and methodological foundations for ensuring the continuity of natural science education in the“school-university”system in the context of updating the content of education;the need for the research in the context of the implementation of the State Program for the Development of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2016-2019,which indicates an increase in the prestige of the profession of teachers and an increase in their quality.These theoretical and methodological bases for ensuring the continuity of educational programs of higher pedagogical and secondary education in conditions of updating the content of education will make it possible to introduce changes in the educational curricula of higher and postgraduate education for the training of pedagogical personnel. 展开更多

Purpose:.To compare the education effect of video demonstrations and conventional teaching on the prevention and control of myopia.Methods:.Eighty students were randomly divided into an experimental(n=40) and a control(n=40) group,.and each group was split into two classes of 40 students..The students in the experimental group attended classes mainly based on video demonstration and those in the control group received conventional teaching..All students then undertook a test and the examination scores were statistically compared between the two groups.Results:.The educational background,.age,.and gender did not differ between the two groups(all P >0.05). The experimental group had a mean test score of 8.25±1.45,.which was slightly lower than the mean of 8.58±1.11 in the control group,but the difference was not statistically significant(t=-1.589,P=0.114).Conclusion:.The educational effect of video demonstrations was almost identical to that of traditional teaching..In addition,.video classes reduced the training time and financial costs,.indicating that they deserve widespread application. 展开更多

While chemistry is popular for children of primary school age, its popularity drops dramatically in secondary schools. A potential solution to address this is to recognise the need for greater relevance-relevance to the curriculum, to the needs of society and, in the eyes of the students. The paper tries to puts forward a rethink of the philosophy for school chemistry education, based on the underlying belief that chemistry education is an integral part of education. The target is labelled scientific and technological literacy for all (STL). STL rejects the notion that chemistry is taught solely to acquire the abilities to be a scientist and supports the vision of a single curriculum goal, applicable to all students. Besides being a philosophy, STL is also a teaching approach. This approach is to initiate the teaching of chemistry topics, starting from a carefully chosen society perspective and to introduce the conceptual learning on a need-to-know basis. A limitation is the professional development of teachers. Suggestion for overcoming this involve workshop on materials development. A concern is expressed in cases where teachers make use of ready-made teaching materials (a common practice), without first gaining an understanding and an appreciation of the intended philosophy related to these materials. 展开更多

地球科学科普教育是新时代科学技术普及工作的重要组成部分,对提升全民地球科学素养、推动社会可持续发展、提升国家竞争力、促进文化繁荣和社会和谐具有重要的基础保障作用,对加快实现人与自然和谐共生的现代化建设具有重要的推动作用... 地球科学科普教育是新时代科学技术普及工作的重要组成部分,对提升全民地球科学素养、推动社会可持续发展、提升国家竞争力、促进文化繁荣和社会和谐具有重要的基础保障作用,对加快实现人与自然和谐共生的现代化建设具有重要的推动作用。本文以中国地质大学(北京)为例,对现阶段我国地球科学全民科普教育一体化建设现状进行了详细分析,指出目前主要存在科普基地资源分配不均衡,发展后劲不足;地球科学科普目标群体针对性不强,科普内容创作和科普传播形式均有待进一步创新发展;基层单位对科普工作重视不够,高水平科普队伍建设缺乏有效的激励机制;地球科学科普宣传效果难以定量评价,科普资源浪费现象较为明显等一系列问题,并提出了相关对策建议:一是优化地球科学科普基地资源配置,进一步加快高校科技场馆科普化进程;二是细化地球科学科普目标群体,不断创新发展科普形式;三是加强高校科协基层组织建设,充分激发科研人员科普积极性;四是规范地球科学科普宣传效果评价体系,有效提高科普宣传效果等相关参考建议,以期充分发挥高校广大科技工作者的科普主力军作用,加快实现人与自然和谐共生的现代化建设。 展开更多
