This impact is not generic for any network, but...Integration of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) generation into an existing distribution system has many impacts on the system, with the power flow being one of the major issues. This impact is not generic for any network, but it may manifest itself either positively or negatively, depending on the grid configuration, interface control modes, operation mode, and load profile. Grid-connected PV systems have three control options of the local voltage controller of the interface DC-AC converter. These control modes are Power Factor control, voltage control, and Droop Voltage control. This paper aims at evaluating and comparing the impacts of those control modes on the grid power flow. A set of evaluation criteria and indices is defined and mathematically formulated. Based on the requirements of the used program (Power Factory Dig Silent V14.1.3), a computation plan (algorithm) has been proposed. The algorithm has been applied to a typical weak network and a wide range of simulations has been carried out. A control str...The grid-connected inverter with LCL filter has the ability of easily attenuating high-frequency current harmonics. However, its suppression effect on the background harmonics in grid voltage is limited. A control strategy is presented, which is composed of an inner loop of capacitor current feedforward, an outer loop of grid-current feedforward and feedforward of grid voltage. The limitations and steps of parameters design for LCL filter are analyzed. Meanwhile, the capacitor current loop is employed to damp the resonant peak caused by the LCL filter and enhance the stability. The properties of different controllers are analyzed and compared, thereinto quasi-proportional-rasonant (PR) controller realizes the control with zero steady-state error of AC variables in static coordinates. In order to suppress the current distortion effected by the background harmonics in grid voltage, the feed-forward function is calculated for the grid-connected inverter with an LCL filter. After simplifying the block diagram, a full-feedforward control strategy for grid voltage is proposed. Theoretical analysis and Matlab/Simulink simulation results show that the proposed method has the advantages of high steady accuracy, fast dynamic response and strong robustness.展开更多
Nowadays,the single state inverter for the grid-connected photovoltaic(PV)systems is becoming more and more popular as they can reduce circuit complexity resulting in less power losses of the inverter.This paper focus...Nowadays,the single state inverter for the grid-connected photovoltaic(PV)systems is becoming more and more popular as they can reduce circuit complexity resulting in less power losses of the inverter.This paper focuses on the use of model predictive control(MPC)to control a 3-phase and 2-level single-state grid-connected inverter in order to regulate the PV maximum power point(MPP).The algorithm of MPC scheme was done to measure the simultaneous current signal including predicting the next sampling current flow.The reference current(Id∗)was used to control the distribution of electrical power from the solar cell to the grid.To be able to control the maximum power point tracking(MPPT)when the sunlight suddenly changes,so that a developing MPPT based on estimation current perturbation and observation(ECP&O-MPPT)technique was used to control the reference current.This concept was experimented by using MATLAB/Simulink software package.The proposed technique was tested and compared with the old technique.The simulation results showed that the developed MPPT technique can track the MPP faster when the light changes rapidly under 1,000W/m2,25℃ standard climatic conditions.The MPPT time was 0.015 s.The total harmonic distortion(THD)was 2.17%and the power factor was 1.展开更多

Nonlinear decoupling controller is designed for realizing decoupling control of active and reactive power. The cascade PI regulation is proposed to avoid inaccurate parameter estimation which generates the system static error. Simulation is carried out based on the simplified power system with large-scale photovoltaic plant modelling, and the power factor, solar radiation strength, and bus fault are considered for the further research. It’s demonstrated that the parameter adjustment of PI controller is simple and convenient, dynamic response of system is transient, and the stability of the inverter control is verified.展开更多

The impact of time delays in the digital controller on active damping and its equivalent virtual impedance is analyzed. The inherent relationship between these time delays and stability is illustrated.Specially, a critical value of the CCF active damping coefficient kdamp_cis proposed to define three distinct regions of stability evaluation. If kdamp_c[ 0, a sufficient but smaller damping coefficient(kdamp\ kdamp_c) is recommended as optimum damping solution;if kdamp_c= 0,system will be unstable irrespective of active damping;and if kdamp_c\ 0, active damping is not necessary to design a stable system. Necessary conditions to ensure stability are identified;guidelines for controller design are then presented to optimize the performance of active damping and dynamic response. Nevertheless, in digitally controlled systems, the PWM and the calculating delays modify the system characteristics in terms of frequency and phase, thus destabilizing the system and degrading the VR-AD performances, mainly in low switching frequencies. Moreover, the stability of the system is greatly affected under weak grid operation characterized by large grid impedance variation. This paper solves these problems by proposing a systematic, robust and optimized design procedure of voltage oriented PI control(VOC) with VRAD. The considered design procedure ensures robust control(sufficient stability margins) and high quality of grid current(reduced steady-state error and minimized THD value) despite the negative impact of digital time delay, grid impedance variation and filter parameters change. Simulation and experimental results are presented to show robustness and efficiency of the suggested design procedure.展开更多
Since only one inverter voltage vector is applied during each duty cycle, traditional model predictive direct power control(MPDPC) for grid-connected inverters(GCIs) results in serious harmonics in current and power. ...Since only one inverter voltage vector is applied during each duty cycle, traditional model predictive direct power control(MPDPC) for grid-connected inverters(GCIs) results in serious harmonics in current and power. Moreover, a high sampling frequency is needed to ensure satisfactory steady-state performance, which is contradictory to its long execution time due to the iterative prediction calculations. To solve these problems, a novel dead-beat MPDPC strategy is proposed, using two active inverter voltage vectors and one zero inverter voltage vector during each duty cycle. Adoption of three inverter vectors ensures a constant switching frequency. Thus, smooth steady-state performance of both current and power can be obtained. Unlike the traditional three-vector based MPDPC strategy, the proposed three vectors are selected based on the power errors rather than the sector where the grid voltage vector is located, which ensures that the duration times of the selected vectors are positive all the time. Iterative calculations of the cost function in traditional predictive control are also removed, which makes the proposed strategy easy to implement on digital signal processors(DSPs) for industrial applications. Results of experiments based on a 1 kW inverter setup validate the feasibility of the proposed three-vector based dead-beat MPDPC strategy.展开更多

Based on dynamically tracking the maximum power point, two novel control methodologies are proposed to control the DC-bus and the output current for the inverter. First, a new linear cycle discrete control algorithm is introduced to realize linear control of the DC-bus voltage and synchronously get the reference current for the inner current loop with a little calculation. Then, to assure a good adaptability to noise and model uncertainty, an auto-disturbance rejection controller is chosen as the output current controller, which does not depend on precise mathematics model. Thus, output current of PV system to the grid is with low harmonic distortion and unity power factor. Simulations and experiments are performed, and the results show that the system is of excellent robustness and effective.展开更多

Impedance analysis is an effective method to analyze the oscillation issue associated with grid-connected photovoltaic systems.However,the existing impedance modeling of a gridconnected photovoltaic inverter usually o...Impedance analysis is an effective method to analyze the oscillation issue associated with grid-connected photovoltaic systems.However,the existing impedance modeling of a gridconnected photovoltaic inverter usually only considers the effect of a single perturbation frequency,ignoring the coupling frequency response between the internal control loops of a grid-connected inverter,which severely affects the accuracy of the stability analysis.Hence,a method of impedance modeling and stability analysis for grid-connected photovoltaic inverters considering cross-coupling frequency is proposed in this paper.First,the generation mechanism of frequency coupling in gridconnected photovoltaic inverters,and the relationship between the coupling frequency and perturbation frequency are analyzed.Secondly,a sequence impedance model of grid-connected photovoltaic systems considering the coupling frequency is established by using the harmonic linearization method.The impact of DC bus voltage control strategy on frequency coupling characteristics of a grid-connected photovoltaic system is evaluated,and the impact of a coupling frequency term on system stability is quantitatively analyzed.Finally,the advantages of the proposed method are verified by several simulations.The results show that the proposed impedance model can accurately predict the potential resonance points of the system,and the coupling frequency characteristics will become much stronger with smaller DC bus capacitance or larger bandwidth of the DC bus controller.展开更多

Meanwhile, the capacitor current loop is employed to damp the resonant peak caused by the LCL filter and enhance the stability. The properties of different controllers are analyzed and compared, thereinto quasi-proportional-rasonant (PR) controller realizes the control with zero steady-state error of AC variables in static coordinates. In order to suppress the current distortion effected by the background harmonics in grid voltage, the feed-forward function is calculated for the grid-connected inverter with an LCL filter. After simplifying the block diagram, a full-feedforward control strategy for grid voltage is proposed. Theoretical analysis and Matlab/Simulink simulation results show that the proposed method has the advantages of high steady accuracy, fast dynamic response and strong robustness.

文摘Nowadays,the single state inverter for the grid-connected photovoltaic(PV)systems is becoming more and more popular as they can reduce circuit complexity resulting in less power losses of the inverter.This paper focuses on the use of model predictive control(MPC)to control a 3-phase and 2-level single-state grid-connected inverter in order to regulate the PV maximum power point(MPP).The algorithm of MPC scheme was done to measure the simultaneous current signal including predicting the next sampling current flow.The reference current(Id∗)was used to control the distribution of electrical power from the solar cell to the grid.To be able to control the maximum power point tracking(MPPT)when the sunlight suddenly changes,so that a developing MPPT based on estimation current perturbation and observation(ECP&O-MPPT)technique was used to control the reference current.This concept was experimented by using MATLAB/Simulink software package.The proposed technique was tested and compared with the old technique.The simulation results showed that the developed MPPT technique can track the MPP faster when the light changes rapidly under 1,000W/m2,25℃ standard climatic conditions.The MPPT time was 0.015 s.The total harmonic distortion(THD)was 2.17%and the power factor was 1.
文摘A grid-connected inverter controlling method to analyze dynamic process of large-scale and grid-connected photovoltaic power station is proposed. The reference values of control variables are composed of maximum power which is the output of the photovoltaic array of the photovoltaic power plant, and power factor specified by dispatching, the control strategy of dynamic feedback linearization is adopted. Nonlinear decoupling controller is designed for realizing decoupling control of active and reactive power. The cascade PI regulation is proposed to avoid inaccurate parameter estimation which generates the system static error. Simulation is carried out based on the simplified power system with large-scale photovoltaic plant modelling, and the power factor, solar radiation strength, and bus fault are considered for the further research. It’s demonstrated that the parameter adjustment of PI controller is simple and convenient, dynamic response of system is transient, and the stability of the inverter control is verified.

文摘This paper investigates the stability of LCL-filtered grid-connected inverters with capacitor current feedback(CCF) active damping. The impact of time delays in the digital controller on active damping and its equivalent virtual impedance is analyzed. The inherent relationship between these time delays and stability is illustrated.Specially, a critical value of the CCF active damping coefficient kdamp_cis proposed to define three distinct regions of stability evaluation. If kdamp_c[ 0, a sufficient but smaller damping coefficient(kdamp\ kdamp_c) is recommended as optimum damping solution;if kdamp_c= 0,system will be unstable irrespective of active damping;and if kdamp_c\ 0, active damping is not necessary to design a stable system. Necessary conditions to ensure stability are identified;guidelines for controller design are then presented to optimize the performance of active damping and dynamic response. Simulation and experimental results confirm the presented analysis.

文摘The Virtual Resistor based Active Damping(VR-AD) is widely employed in converters connected to the grid via LCL filters in order to mitigate the inherent resonance of the filters. Nevertheless, in digitally controlled systems, the PWM and the calculating delays modify the system characteristics in terms of frequency and phase, thus destabilizing the system and degrading the VR-AD performances, mainly in low switching frequencies. Moreover, the stability of the system is greatly affected under weak grid operation characterized by large grid impedance variation. This paper solves these problems by proposing a systematic, robust and optimized design procedure of voltage oriented PI control(VOC) with VRAD. The considered design procedure ensures robust control(sufficient stability margins) and high quality of grid current(reduced steady-state error and minimized THD value) despite the negative impact of digital time delay, grid impedance variation and filter parameters change. Simulation and experimental results are presented to show robustness and efficiency of the suggested design procedure.

文摘Since only one inverter voltage vector is applied during each duty cycle, traditional model predictive direct power control(MPDPC) for grid-connected inverters(GCIs) results in serious harmonics in current and power. Moreover, a high sampling frequency is needed to ensure satisfactory steady-state performance, which is contradictory to its long execution time due to the iterative prediction calculations. To solve these problems, a novel dead-beat MPDPC strategy is proposed, using two active inverter voltage vectors and one zero inverter voltage vector during each duty cycle. Adoption of three inverter vectors ensures a constant switching frequency. Thus, smooth steady-state performance of both current and power can be obtained. Unlike the traditional three-vector based MPDPC strategy, the proposed three vectors are selected based on the power errors rather than the sector where the grid voltage vector is located, which ensures that the duration times of the selected vectors are positive all the time. Iterative calculations of the cost function in traditional predictive control are also removed, which makes the proposed strategy easy to implement on digital signal processors(DSPs) for industrial applications. Results of experiments based on a 1 kW inverter setup validate the feasibility of the proposed three-vector based dead-beat MPDPC strategy.

文摘This paper addresses a new composite controller for a boost-buck inverter to interface the photovoltaic array with the power grid. Based on dynamically tracking the maximum power point, two novel control methodologies are proposed to control the DC-bus and the output current for the inverter. First, a new linear cycle discrete control algorithm is introduced to realize linear control of the DC-bus voltage and synchronously get the reference current for the inner current loop with a little calculation. Then, to assure a good adaptability to noise and model uncertainty, an auto-disturbance rejection controller is chosen as the output current controller, which does not depend on precise mathematics model. Thus, output current of PV system to the grid is with low harmonic distortion and unity power factor. Simulations and experiments are performed, and the results show that the system is of excellent robustness and effective.

文摘In order to solve the problem of weighting factors selection in the conventional finite-control-set model predictive control for a grid-connected three-level inverter,an improved multi-objective model predictive control without weighting factors based on hierarchical optimization is proposed.Four control objectives are considered in this strategy.The grid current and neutral-point voltage of the DC-link are taken as the objectives in the first optimization hierarchy,and by using fuzzy satisfaction decision,several feasible candidates of voltage vectors are determined.Then,the average switching frequency and common-mode voltage are optimized in the second hierarchy.The average ranking criterion is introduced to sort the objective functions,and the best voltage vector is obtained to realize the coordinated control of multiple objectives.At last,the effectiveness of the proposed strategy is verified by simulation results.

文摘When the power grid suffers from grid faults that cause phase disturbances,the grid-connected converter becomes destabilized by the interaction between the phase-locked loop(PLL)and the control loop.In this paper,the stability of the PLL affected by the control loop under transient grid faults is studied.First,the equivalent model of the PLL under the influence of the control loop is established.Then,different response processes of PLLs under the ground fault with various control parameters are qualitatively analyzed.Furthermore,a small-signal model is proposed to assess the stability of the PLL under different control loop parameters.The system poles can be calculated to show the physical origin of the instability.Finally,simulations of a three-phase 21-level modular multilevel converter(MMC)built in PSCAD and a down-scale experiment is performed to verify the parameter influence of the control loop on the PLL.
文摘Impedance analysis is an effective method to analyze the oscillation issue associated with grid-connected photovoltaic systems.However,the existing impedance modeling of a gridconnected photovoltaic inverter usually only considers the effect of a single perturbation frequency,ignoring the coupling frequency response between the internal control loops of a grid-connected inverter,which severely affects the accuracy of the stability analysis.Hence,a method of impedance modeling and stability analysis for grid-connected photovoltaic inverters considering cross-coupling frequency is proposed in this paper.First,the generation mechanism of frequency coupling in gridconnected photovoltaic inverters,and the relationship between the coupling frequency and perturbation frequency are analyzed.Secondly,a sequence impedance model of grid-connected photovoltaic systems considering the coupling frequency is established by using the harmonic linearization method.The impact of DC bus voltage control strategy on frequency coupling characteristics of a grid-connected photovoltaic system is evaluated,and the impact of a coupling frequency term on system stability is quantitatively analyzed.Finally,the advantages of the proposed method are verified by several simulations.The results show that the proposed impedance model can accurately predict the potential resonance points of the system,and the coupling frequency characteristics will become much stronger with smaller DC bus capacitance or larger bandwidth of the DC bus controller.

文摘This paper presents an improved virtual synchronous control(VSynC) for the grid-connected voltage source converter(VSC) so as to continuously operate under the grid voltage with steady unbalance.The improved VSynC introduces the negative sequence power controls on basis of conventional VSynC.The improved VSynC is capable of regulating the negative sequence internal voltage to reduce the negative-sequence injected currents and oscillated powers of the VSC aroused by the negative-sequence grid voltage.Three alternative local control objectives for the VSC itself under steady state unbalanced grid conditions and their corresponding power references are deduced and computed.Simulated and experimental results are presented to validate the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed improved VSynC to enhance the continuous operation performance of VSynC-based VSCs during grid voltage steady-state unbalance.
