People from different backgrounds may have various opinions and methods dealing with landscape ecology. As a basic ecology theory for decision making in land use planning and resource management, it should provide sound scientific principles, which means some core concepts for landscape ecology need to be established. This paper attempts to introduce some core concepts for landscape ecology, with brief analysis, including: the integrity of landscape system and the heterogeneity of landscape elements; scale in landscape ecology; mosaics of landscape structure; spatial aggregation and spread of ecological flow; physical cultural nature of landscape; the irreversible and human dominated landscape evolution; the multi value of landscape. 展开更多

Within the sphere of contemporary social sciences, the terms“modernity,”“post-modernity”and“globalization”have penetrated,as the core concepts, into various fields of social sciences in a logical way.In constituting the concept of“modernity,”sociology of education develops the educational theory,as sociological theory does, into a“grand narrative”and“foundationalist”theory;the contribution of post-modernity is pluralism and self-examination in an attempt to transcend modernity.Globalization,a kind of expanded modernity, makes education sociologists broaden their perspective from single and traditional“nationality,”“society”and“nation”to an international society and even to the global society, which has broken through the research paradigm of modernity with ethnocentrism, anthropocentrism and Euro-centrism.These changes have required urgent constitution of the conceptions and theoretical frameworks of sociology of education to be applied on a global level. 展开更多

This research intends to employ Complex Adaptive Blended Learning(CABL)in English Intensive Reading teaching. This empirical research tries to work out what is Complex Adaptive Blended Learning Literature review,Definition of blended learning. It would further analyze the core concepts and framework of CABL and discuss the principles of CABL.This empirical study of Complex Adaptive Blended Learning in English Intensive Reading Teaching would be conducted on the Super-star Learning Management System(SLMS).The activities designed in the Complex Adaptive Blended Learning would be analyzed and how they work before class,in class, and after class would be described. The Complex Adaptive Blended Learning not only offers a platform for students to develop their potential in English Intensive Reading class, but also facilitates the data collection for the teachers in their teaching research. 展开更多

Question Answering(QA),the process of computing valid answers to questions formulated in natural language, has recently gained attention in both industry and academia.Translating this idea to the realm of geographic information systems(GIS)may open new opportunities for data scientists. In theory, analysts may simply ask spatial questions to exploit diverse geographic information resources, without a need to know how GIS tools and geodata sets interoperate. In this outlook article,we investigate the scientific challenges of geo-analytical question answering, introducing the problems of unknown answers and indirect QA.Furthermore,we argue why core concepts of spatial information play an important role in addressing this challenge, enabling us to describe analytic potentials, and to compose spatial questions and workflows for generating answers. 展开更多
