This research paper delves into the question of how AI influences corporate leadership, examining both its advantages and disadvantages. Positive impacts of AI are evident in communication, feedback systems, tracking mechanisms, and decision-making processes within organizations. AI-powered communication tools, as exemplified by Slack, facilitate seamless collaboration, transcending geographical barriers. Feedback systems, like Adobe’s Performance Management System, employ AI algorithms to provide personalized development opportunities, enhancing employee growth. AI-based tracking systems optimize resource allocation, as exemplified by studies like “AI-Based Tracking Systems: Enhancing Efficiency and Accountability.” Additionally, AI-powered decision support, demonstrated during the COVID-19 pandemic, showcases the capability to navigate complex challenges and maintain resilience. However, AI adoption poses challenges in human resources, potentially leading to job displacement and necessitating upskilling efforts. Managing AI errors becomes crucial, as illustrated by instances like Amazon’s biased recruiting tool. Data privacy concerns also arise, emphasizing the need for robust security measures. The proposed solution suggests leveraging Local Machine Learning Models (LLMs) to address data privacy issues. Approaches such as federated learning, on-device learning, differential privacy, and homomorphic encryption offer promising strategies. By exploring the evolving dynamics of AI and leadership, this research advocates for responsible AI adoption and proposes LLMs as a potential solution, fostering a balanced integration of AI benefits while mitigating associated risks in corporate settings.展开更多

文摘In this study,we analyze the stock market reaction to 35 events associated with 32 publicly traded companies from six countries that have announced cryptocurrency acquisitions, selling,or acceptance as a means of payment. Our analysis focuses on traditional firms whose core business is unrelated to blockchain or cryptocurrency. We find that the aggregate market reaction around these events is slightly positive but statistically insignificant for most event windows. However, when we perform heterogeneity analyses,we observe significant differences in market reaction between events with high(larger CARs)and low cryptocurrency exposure(lower CARs).Multivariate regressions show that the level of exposure to cryptocurrency("skin in the game")is a critical factor underlying abnormal returns around the event.Further analyses reveal that economically meaningful acquisitions of BTC or ETH(relative to firm’s total assets)drive the observed effect. Our findings have important implications for managers, investors, and analysts as they shed light on the relationship between cryptocurrency adoption and firm value.
文摘This research aims to investigate the influence of female directors on Intellectual Capital Performance(ICP)using a sample of manufacturing-listed companies in China. Our study investigates the link between having two or more female directors and the Modified Value-Added Intellectual Coefficient(MVAIC)methodology, employing the critical mass theory from 2004–2017.We find that having a critical mass of female directors(three or more)shows a significant positive impact on MVAIC and its components, including human capital efficiency, structural capital efficiency, relational capital efficiency, and physical capital efficiency, with physical capital being the critical driver. Our study reveals that the critical mass participation of female directors substantially influences the IC efficiency of privately owned companies compared to state-owned companies. Moreover, the number of female directors also affects the IC performance of manufacturing companies in multiple regions. Our findings support the validity of group classification identified by Kanter and Critical Mass Theory. To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the few pieces of research that studies the role of female board directors in IC performance and Chinese manufacturing firms using MVAIC as an IC measure.
文摘The advancement of digital innovation requires a distinctive organizational structure, different from those for non-digital innovation. The research literature, however, has confused appropriate forms of organization for digital innovation with those for non-digital innovation.Organizational heterogeneity, which is often overlooked in research on digital innovation, determines a country’s core digital competencies. From a holistic perspective of corporate organization, industrial organization and innovation system, this study has identified the unique organizational structure for digital innovation in China by comparing organizational structures for digital and non-digital innovations. In terms of corporate organization,Chinese companies have intensified internal competition and cooperation to incentivize digital innovation in areas with mid-and short-term goals of profitability. In terms of industrial organization,multi-platform enterprises and diverse use cases may enhance economies of range and multi-path exploration of digital innovation. In terms of innovation system, administrative intervention in specific domains of the digital economy may help to shape expectations of innovation entities and coordinate their behaviors.

文摘In the era of rapid information development, with the popularity of computers, the advancement of science and technology, and the ongoing expansion of IT technology and business, the enterprise resource planning(ERP)system has evolved into a platform and a guarantee for the fulfilment of company management procedures after long-term operations.Because of developments in information technology, most manual accounting procedures are being replaced by computerized Accounting Information Systems(AIS),which are quicker and more accurate. The primary factors influencing the decisions of logistics firm trading parties are investigated in order to enhance the design of decision-supporting modules and to improve the performance of logistics enterprises through AIS.This paper proposed a novel approach to calculate the weights of each information element in order to establish their important degree. The main purpose of this research is to present a quantitative analytic approach for determining the important information of logistics business collaboration response.Furthermore, the idea of total orders and the significant degrees stated above are used to identify the optimal order of all information elements.Using the three ways of marginal revenue, marginal cost, and business matching degree, the information with cumulative weights is which is deployed to form the data from the intersection of the best order. It has the ability to drastically reduce the time and effort required to create a logistics business control/decision-making system.
文摘The tremendous impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the global aviation industry has led to many cases of airline financial distress and bankruptcy. The Asia–Pacific region(APAC)contains more than half of the world’s population, and its airlines had the highest profit margin of any region. In this study,we investigate whether corporate sustainability practice can reduce the financial distress risk of air carriers, and,if so,what would the effect be in APAC?We first examine the relationship between environmental, social, and governance disclosure and the likelihood of financial distress of airlines as measured by the Altman Z″-score.Second,we analyze the moderating role of being an APAC airline in this relationship. The findings support the claim that implementing environmental actions may increase financial distress risk, and by improving social and governance activities, airlines can mitigate the risk of financial distress. The negative influence of the environmental pillar and the positive influence of the social pillar can be smaller for APAC airlines. Our study provides empirical evidence of the influence of environmental, social, and governance(ESG)on the likelihood of financial distress in the airline industry. Moreover,we analyze the moderating role of being an APAC airline in the relationship between sustainability and financial distress. This study has significant implications for executives, managers, and policymakers in the aviation industry on ESG strategy decisions and the general issue of sustainability.

文摘Food hygiene incidents in hot pot restaurants were studied, and a relationship model between corporate reputation and consumers behavioral intention was established.Hot pot consumers of hot pot restaurants were surveyed through questionnaires. The results show that corporate reputation positively affects service recovery and repurchase intention, and service recovery positively influences repurchase intention, while corporate reputation affects repurchase intention through service recovery. In other words, under the situation of enterprise crises, the service recovery of an enterprise can restore its image and reputation. Therefore, when an enterprise has a crisis,it should positively respond to the crisis incident, and take timely crisis recovery to maintain its positive image.

文摘BACKGROUND Veno-arterial extra corporeal membrane oxygenation(VA-ECMO)support is commonly complicated with left ventricle(LV)distension in patients with cardiogenic shock. We resolved this problem by transeptally converting VAECMO to left atrium veno-arterial(LAVA)-ECMO that functioned as a temporary paracorporeal left ventricular assist device to resolve LV distension. In our case LAVA-ECMO was also functioning as a bridge-to-transplant device,a technique that has been scarcely reported in the literature.CASE SUMMARY A 65 year-old man suffered from acute myocardial injury that required percutaneous stents.Less than two weeks later, noncompliance to antiplatelet therapy led to stent thrombosis, cardiogenic shock, and cardiac arrest.Femorofemoral VA-ECMO support was started, and the patient underwent a second coronary angiography with re-stenting and intra-aortic balloon pump placement. The VA-ECMO support was complicated by left ventricular distension which we resolved via LAVA-ECMO.Unfortunately,episodes of bleeding and sepsis complicated the clinical picture and the patient passed away 27 d after initiating VA-ECMO.CONCLUSION This clinical case demonstrates that LAVA-ECMO is a viable strategy to unload the LV without another invasive percutaneous or surgical procedure. We also demonstrate that LAVA-ECMO can also be weaned to a left ventricular assist device system.A benefit of this technique is that the procedure is potentially reversible, should the patient require VA-ECMO support again.A transeptal LV venting approach like LAVA-ECMO may be indicated over ImpellaTM in cases where less LV unloading is required and where a restrictive myocardium could cause LV suctioning.Left ventricular over-distention is a well-known complication of peripheral VA-ECMO in cardiogenic shock and LAVA ECMO through transeptal cannulation offers a novel and safe approach for treating LV overloading, without the need of an additional percutaneous access.
