With the upgrading of industries, the cosmetics industry has posed new requirements for technical talents. As a professional core course in cosmetic technology,“Cosmetic Product Formulation Design and Preparation Technology”serves as the foundation for cultivating students’abilities in cosmetic development and preparation. To foster high-quality skilled talents capable of adapting to the rapid growth of color cosmetics and to better promote the deep integration of scientific and technological industries with curriculum teaching, the teacher team embarked on active explorations and practical teaching research for curriculum teaching reform from four dimensions:strengthening top-level design, enriching teaching content, optimizing teaching design, and reforming assessment methods. These efforts have enhanced students’comprehensive vocational qualities and innovative consciousness, contributing to the teaching reform in higher vocational colleges under the integration of industry, education, and research. 展开更多

As the amount of online video content is increasing, consumers are becoming increasingly interested in various product names appearing in videos, particularly in cosmetic-product names in videos related to fashion, beauty, and style. Thus, the identification of such products by using image recognition technology may aid in the identification of current commercial trends. In this paper,we propose a two-stage deep-learning detection and classification method for cosmetic products.Specifically, variants of the YOLO network are used for detection, where the bounding box for each given input product is predicted and subsequently cropped for classification. We use four state-of-the-art classification networks, namely ResNet,InceptionResNetV2,DenseNet,and EfficientNet,and compare their performance.Furthermore,we employ dilated convolution in these networks to obtain better feature representations and improve performance.Extensive experiments demonstrate that YOLOv3 and its tiny version achieve higher speed and accuracy. Moreover, the dilated networks marginally outperform the base models,or achieve similar performance in the worst case.We conclude that the proposed method can effectively detect and classify cosmetic products. 展开更多

By standard method to determine thallium content in 34 batches of cosmetic products sold in Shenzhen, including cushions and sunscreens for children, all results of samples are within the range of not detected to 0.62 mg/kg.By calculating the Maximum Theoretical Safety Limit, according to guidance of Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety(SCCS)of European Union and Toxicological Review of Thallium and Compounds 2009 of United States Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)to assess the risk of cosmetic products. As a result,if the mean concentration of thallium in different kind of cosmetic products does not exceed 0.031 mg/kg,the products will not show significant toxicological risk for consumers. 展开更多

The safety and antimicrobial efficacy of Ethyl lauroyl arginate HCI while using as a preservative have been introduced. Meanwhile the antimicrobial mechanism, the minimal inhibitory concentration and the stability to heat and pH range of ethyl lauroyl arginate HCI have been introduced. The new preservatives have been developed, they are the compounds containing ethyl lauroyl arginate HCI. The high efficacy of antimicrobial of Ethyl lauroyl arginate HCI series products ha been described while added into the formulations of amino acid shampoo and toner. It has been proved that ethyl lauroyl arginate HCI series products can be the optimized option for the alternative of traditional preservatives for cosmetic products. 展开更多

In this paper,we developed and validated a simple, sensitive, and selective high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(HPLC-MS/MS) method to identify and measure the following prohibited substances that may be found in cosmetic products:minoxidil, hydrocortisone, spironolactone, estrone, canrenone, triamcinolone acetonide and progesterone.Chromatographic separation was performed on a Waters Symmetry C18(100 mm×2.1 mm,3.5μm particle size) with a gradient elution system composed of 0.2%(v/v) formic acid aqueous solution and methanol containing 0.2%(v/v) formic acid at a flow rate of 0.3 mL/min.The substances were detected using a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer in the multiple reaction monitoring mode with an electrospray ionization source. All of the calibration curves showed good linearity(r 〉 0.999) within the tested concentration ranges. The limit of detection was 〈25 pg.The relative standard deviations for intraday precision for each of the prohibited substances were 〈3.5%at two concentration levels(2μg/g,10μg/g). The relative recovery rate for each of the prohibited substances ranged from 91.8%to 111%at three concentration levels(0.1μg/g,2μg/g,10μg/g),including the limit of quantification. In conclusion,we have developed and validated a method that can identify seven prohibited substances in cosmetic products. 展开更多

Skin lightening and tanning are two major areas dominating the market of skincare and cosmetic products. Though the demands are originated from two different communities, the two areas share a same goal—skin colour tuning. The known safe compounds with skin colour tuning activities are limited. In contrary, Chinese medicinal herb provides a pool of natural bioactive compounds, which have been used in Asian countries for long time and have been tested for its toxicity. Here, we demonstrate a high throughput screening platform for potential compounds usable for skin colour tuning. From 147 natural compounds, 26 of them showed potential in skin tanning functions by using the high throughput melanogenesis platform based on the melanogenesis assay on B16 melanocytes. Five of them promoted melanogenesis by over 50%. Moreover, apart from 1, 8-dihydroxyanthraquinone, the other four compounds showed enhancement effect on tyrosinase activity. From the result, the compounds increased the Vmax of tyrosinase without changing the Km in a dose-dependent manner. Thus, there should be no irreversible structural change of the enzyme. Definitely, this report contributes to the development of personalization in skincare and cosmetic products. 展开更多

Cosmetics that are personal or personalized are now becoming extremely prevalent. While compliance is mandated by European Union(EU)Cosmetics Directive 1223/2009,there seem to be no strict guidelines for maintaining obedience.Cosmetics must meet a number of conditions in order to be sold in the European Single Market;however, the focus of this article is on the Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009.Regulations are examined for certain elements and several solutions are presented that allow for careful use of individually cloaked cosmetics that are available on the market.Metallic nanoparticles(NMs)have been proposed for usage as active ingredients/excipient in a number of cosmetics products.Due to fast-paced businesses in the cosmetic industry, cosmetology tends to focus on its distinctive characteristics to bring value to a diverse array of products, but due to the small size of nanometers,NMs may not always follow the very same handling guidelines as their conventional material. As a result,a nano-specific framework for regulating the use of nanomaterials&creation of nano-improved cosmetics is becoming increasingly prevalent.Scientific and industrial perspective into the NMs presently used for the m arketplace, with an emphasis on metallic NMs,and also an evaluation of the regulatory requirements and Scientific Commission on Consumer Safety(SCCS)Opinions.Considering the fact that the original Cosmetic products Directive(EU Legislation No 1223/2009)has precise restrictions on NMs,beauty materials containing unlawful NMs have already been supplied in the EU on numerous times.Researchers examine the risk evaluation indicated in Article 16 of the Cosmetology Code acts as a framework for the potential expansion to enhance nano-items,considering the long-term risks of nanomaterials if mistreated. The nation’s attention is on synchronizing efforts to integrate metallic NMs into cosmetic products but to the restricted fusion of metallic NMs with numerous non-metallic n anoparticles.Although Directive 76/768/EEC on the beauty items is an upright division of amendment that requires the European market for every cosmetic product placed to meet its exigencies would be irrational that it is for believings a stand-alone part of regulations is unaffected by other legal texts. In reality,D irective 76/768/EEC takes the form part of complicated legal action that began 40 years ago that ensure the free passage of goods throughout the EU while also European individuals’and their environment’s safety. The ongoing chapter outlines the most important aspects of the Directive Cosmetic Products along with the latest guidelines 2022 prepared by the COS law Team of what happened in the EU cosmetics regulatory framework between January and March, which serves as the book’s foundation. The trend of personal skincare seems to be high among clients. 展开更多
