Research on the Application of Second Language Acquisition Theory in College English Speech Teaching

The teaching of English speeches in universities aims to enhance oral communication ability,improve English communication skills,and expand English knowledge,occupying a core position in English teaching in universities.This article takes the theory of second language acquisition as the background,analyzes the important role and value of this theory in English speech teaching in universities,and explores how to apply the theory of second language acquisition in English speech teaching in universities.It aims to strengthen the cultivation of English skilled talents and provide a brief reference for improving English speech teaching in universities.

Theory and Practice of Language Teaching and Learning in Vhembe District Primary Schools, Limpopo Province, South Africa

South Africa has 11 official languages enshrined in the Constitution of the country. An additional language, sign language was approved as an official language at the end of 2008. The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa and the South African Schools Act 84 of 1996 emphasise teaching and learning through any mother tongue, a learner would understand best. Section 29（1） of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa categorically states that： ＂Everyone has the right to receive education in the official language or languages of their choice in public educational institutions where that education is reasonably practicable＂. However, most text books written in English have been prescribed at many schools. One is not certain whether the subjects are taught in English or in the indigenous language at these schools. In the end, those teachers use the mother tongue, together with English, in teaching learners. This result in code switching and code mixing takes place in classes, which are meant to facilitate communication across barriers of colour, language, and region, while creating an environment in which respect for languages other than one＇s own would be encouraged. Teaching and learning in one＇s mother tongue promotes full participation in the economy of the country. The aim of the paper is to investigate teaching and learning in Vhembe primary schools of the Limpopo Province in South Africa, within the framework of existing legislation. This will be compared with empirical evidence. The researcher seeks to establish what language（s） primary schools use for teaching and learning. Based on this, conclusions and recommendations will be made to assist stakeholders in language-in-education policy formulation.

Practice Analysis on the Teaching Theory and Skills of English Translation

As a universal language, English makes a better communication between China and the developed countries;English language teaching has become increasingly important in more and more Chinese Schools. At the beginning, when Chinese students start to learn a second language, they need to translate the second language such as English into Chinese in the first hand, and this procedure will help them to understand and learn English better. For English language translation teachers, they need to research and create the suitable, effective method of learning English translation for most students constantly in order to improve the English translation learning efficiency of the Chinese students. The local culture of China is quite different from the culture of other English speaking countries. When our Chinese students study English language translation, at the same time, they need to learn the different culture in different countries and learn how to accept and face up the cultural background difference between our country and the other English speaking countries. In the meantime, during the time of teaching English translation, the English translation subject teachers need to guide the students to learn and understand the difference in practice, and help them to establish a comprehensive and correct idea of learning English translation through teaching correct and different translation skills.

Analyzing the Integrated Teaching of Theory and Practice in Communication Technology Based on the Cognitive Process

This study analyzes the cognitive characteristics of students in communication courses in military colleges and the impact of integrated teaching of theory and practice on students’cognitive process as well as proposes the information processing model of students’cognitive process in the integrated teaching of theory and practice.Combining the cognitive characteristics of the students from Communication Technology,on the one hand,this study analyzes the five factors that affect the teaching effect of integrating theory and practice;on the other hand,it proposes improvement measures for the integration of theory and practice from the structure of the teaching content,teaching organization and management,modern education technology,and the ability of teachers.

Motivational Practices in Foreign Language Teaching:From the Perspective of Self-Determination Theory

This quantitative-oriented study investigates junior middle school EFL teachers’beliefs about motivational practices in the language teaching process.Grounded in self-determination theory,the study examined teachers’beliefs in three basic psychological needs(relatedness,competence and autonomy)and the effect of their teaching experience on these beliefs.Data were obtained from 84 Chinese junior middle school English teachers through a questionnaire.Results suggested that teachers recognized motivational practices for relatedness and competence satisfaction while showing relatively low recognition of a few motivating practices for autonomy satisfaction.Teaching experience was found to have no influence on teachers’conception of needs-related motivational practices.Findings reveal that traditional activities like collective lesson preparations may have a negative influence on teachers’beliefs about motivational practices.They also present the necessity for adjustments on educational regulations,and for modern professional training to help teachers understand students’basic psychological needs,and to encourage new ideas to bolster students’intrinsic motivation for language learning.

On How to Improve Spoken English Teaching on Business of Liuzhou City Vocational College

Nowadays, China's foreign trade can not be compared with what it was before. As the foreign trade business has developed rapidly, a great deal of qualified talents on economy and trades are needed. These kinds of talents are supposed to master academic knowledge of economy and trade as well as the related business knowledge. Moreover, they should have excellent competences of expressing themselves orally in foreign language. English is the popular language that is used in international communication. All English majors in Liuzhou City Vocational College (LCVC) are majoring in Business English. According to some research, one of the weakest abilities of business major is spoken English. Hence, it becomes an important task for teachers to enhance students' spoken English competence on business. This article is talking about this teaching condition and to make some analyzes and put forward some reform suggestions based on the investigation.

A Reflection on a Teaching Practice

The present paper is a reflection on a teaching practice which employed second language acquisition(SLA) theories and teaching methodologies. The students taught were second-year non-English majors from X university and the course book used was New Horizon College English: Reading and Writing(3 rd edition). SLA theories involved include Input Hypothesis, Noticing Hypothesis and Comprehensible Output Hypothesis; teaching methodologies applied include Grammar-Translation Method,Communicative Language Teaching and Task Based Language Teaching(TBLT). After a semester-long teaching practice, the present reflection was completed after a deep discussion with the teacher. Students description, teaching process, and merits and demerits of this practice were illustrated.

“产教融合、校企合作、多位一体”的应用化学专业实践教学体系构建

“产教融合,校企合作”是高校培养新时代所需人才的重要途径之一,牵引着人才培养的发展方向。为顺应时代对人才的需求,并结合我院应用化学专业人才培养目标,本文针对我院应用化学专业提出构建“产教融合、校企合作、多位一体、虚实结合”的创新人才培养实践教学体系。以培养学生的实践创新能力为核心,通过搭建校企合作实践教学平台,设置“基础实验-综合训练-创新设计”三个层次的实验,推进多位一体、虚实结合的实践教学模式,对学生实行个性化培养,使培养的人才与社会需求相适应,并服务于经济社会的发展。

作为人文实践的教学及其教学论意义

对教学本质问题的探讨,为教学理论的科学化发展作出过历史贡献。但教学活动不仅具有科学认识的一面,也有人文实践的特性。从人文实践的视角解读教学本质,意味着教学具有理解性、情感性、身体性、境遇性等属性。近50年以来,国内外基于人文实践的教学改革与探索,对于改进课堂教学,关注人的生命价值与身心健康,积累了实践经验。基于此,当代教学论需要在本质与现象、课程与教学、发展与评价、教师与学生等理论范畴上,作出契合人文实践意义上的回答。

理论-实践-互动式教学法在儿科护理教学中的应用探究

目的探究理论-实践-互动式教学法(theory-practice-interactive teaching method,TPI)在儿科护理教学中的应用效果。方法选择2020年9月—2022年10月中国医科大学附属盛京医院进行儿科实习的护理本科生为研究对象。实习时间在2020年9月-2021年9月者为传统教学组,给予传统教学方式教学,实习时间在2021年10月—2022年10月者为TPI教学组,给予TPI法教学。2组教学内容、授课教师及教学时间相同,统计2组教学后理论及实际操作技能成绩,教学前、后给予2组学生批判性思维能力量表(critical thinking disposition inventory-Chinese version,CTDI-CV)评价,通过学生自主学习评价量表评价2组学生学习动机、学习合作能力、信息素质、自我管理能力,比较2组教学满意度。结果TPI教学组理论知识、实际操作技能评分较传统教学组高,差异有统计学意义(P<0.001)。TPI教学组学生学习动机、学习合作能力、信息素质、自我管理能力、CTDI-CV评分较传统教学组高,差异有统计学意义(P<0.001)。TPI教学组教学满意度(97.78%)较传统教学组高(84.44%),差异有统计学意义(P<0.001)。结论在儿科护理教学中运用TPI教学法,可提升学生教学成绩、实践能力、自学能力及批判性思维能力,提升教学满意度。

“植物生理学”理论结合实践的教学模式改革

“植物生理学”是高等农林院校植物生产类本科生的专业基础课,教学涉及的专业多,授课对象的知识结构和学习特点不断变化,且面临学时少、新知识和新技术层出不穷的窘境。因此,从甄选教学内容、丰富教学题材,改进教学方法,学以致用。建立“植物生理学”开放课堂,科研反哺教学、指导学生参加创新创业大赛、增强科研创新意识等方面对“植物生理学”进行了教学改革与实践。同时,“植物生理学”教学的研究对象选用本地的植物类型或地方品种并列举它们与当地生态环境之间的关系,使教学内容既贴近生活实际又符合学校的办学特色,既能提高学生的综合素质与实践能力,又可为培养创新型人才奠定基础。
