The Himalayas exhibit multiple instances and stages of violent armed conflict and political instability.This paper will consider how the political and cultural realities of the Himalayas complexify the Catholic approa...The Himalayas exhibit multiple instances and stages of violent armed conflict and political instability.This paper will consider how the political and cultural realities of the Himalayas complexify the Catholic approach to pursuing a sustainable just peace.Peacebuilding emphasizes a holistic approach to conflict transformation,addressing the underlying causes of violence,while considering the goals and motivations of those involved.As a vital component of Catholic social teaching,peacebuilding articulates a comprehensive approach to reduce violence toward a sustainable and just peace that emphasizes human dignity and a common good.Although Catholic peacebuilding institutions attempt to engage at the grassroots,national,and international levels,they can be restricted to local communities in the Himalayas because of political and cultural limitations.Given the importance and plurality of religion,as well as the marginalization of mountain peoples,in the Himalayas,an emphasis on interreligious collaboration to deconstruct oppressive systems of injustice is essential.Despite a problematic colonial past and small minority of Christians in the region,Catholic peacebuilders have demonstrated an ability to contribute when partnering with actors from other faith traditions.Furthermore,Catholic social teaching provides a framework that is helpful to linking political,economic,and social development with efforts toward achieving a just peace.This research will attempt to identify possible opportunities amidst the challenges at the grassroots level and beyond.Catholic peacebuilding,when accounting for the unique challenges of the Himalayas,is one component,among many,that can contribute to local,regional,and global conflict transformation.展开更多
Objective:With a positive safety culture,institutions offer the best quality and safe care to their patients.The objective of this study was to analyze patient safety culture from the perspective of the multidisciplin...Objective:With a positive safety culture,institutions offer the best quality and safe care to their patients.The objective of this study was to analyze patient safety culture from the perspective of the multidisciplinary team,to identify factors that influence patient safety culture,and to create/promote-jointly with the study participants-strategies for improving processes of change.Methods:The study design represented a mixed methods research approach,with a sequential explanatory design.A multidisciplinary team of workers at a general hospital was eligible for the study.To collect quantitative data,we administered the Safety Attitudes Questionnaire(SAQ).The qualitative phase was accomplished via focus groups(FGs),with participants from the first phase of the study using the principles of deliberative dialogue(DD)as a knowledge-translation strategy.The STROBE guideline was used to develop the study.Results:The overall SAQ score was positive(75.1±10.4).Negative scores were found in the fields of Safety Climate,Working Conditions,and Stress Recognition.Focus group discussions identified the aspects that create a negative impact on safety culture,such as ineffective communication,punitive approach in the event of errors,the lack of commitment and adherence to the protocols,and the non-recognition of the stress and the mistakes.Actions for the promotion of safety culture were developed and implemented during the study.Conclusions:The use of the principles of DD as a strategy for knowledge translation(KT)made it possible to identify and plan for joint actions to generate improvements in safety culture.展开更多
The Qur'an embraces cultural pluralism, emphasising that “People, We created you all from a single man and a single woman, and made you into races and tribes so that you should recognize one another. ”(Q. 49: 13...The Qur'an embraces cultural pluralism, emphasising that “People, We created you all from a single man and a single woman, and made you into races and tribes so that you should recognize one another. ”(Q. 49: 13). Moreover, peace is the most fundamental value in the Qur'an and Islam. The majority of the classical Muslim jurists, especially Hanafi school, emphasised that the reason for Muslims' fight against non-Muslims is Muslims' defense themselves against attacks, not non-Muslims' faith. Bediuzzaman Said Nursi (d. 1960) states that the only kind of jihad that is appropriate for the present age is spiritual or moraljihad. Furthermore, regarding Qur'anic approach to relations between Muslims and the People of the Book, Muslim scholars, in general, advocate sincere relations and trust between Muslims and the People of the Book. In addition, Said Nursi is one of the great Muslim scholars in interfaith dialogue in the 20th century. Finally, there is the need for establishing culture of coexistence, which practised before within a religious tradition such as Islamic tradition for many centuries in the history. Through achieving a culture of coexistence and peace, most conflicts can be resolved.展开更多
