The clayish crushed stone was used for making aerated concrete. Through studying hydro-thermal synthesis reaction, mix ratio, gas-forming and performance analysis, Grade-B05 and Grade-B06 aerated concrete were prepared successfully. The proper mix ratio and key processing parameters were achieved. The microstructure of aerated concrete with crush stone was analyzed by means of XRD and SEM. The experimental results indicate that the hydration products are poorly crystalline C- S- H ( B ), tobermorite and hydrogarnet. No componeat of clay was found. Unreacted SiO2 cart be in existence, and the structure system of aerated concrete is homogencous and dense. 展开更多

This paper deals with a new type of crushed stone grouting pile with a rigid bearing plate. The load transfer characteristics were analyzed, and a settlement model of the composite foundation reinforced with crushed stone grouting pile and rigid bearing plate was built by FEM program. The effects of replacement ratio of capping plate, replacement ratio of pile, replacement ratio of grout diffusion zone, pile-soil modulus ratio, and serous-soil modulus ratio, on the composite foundation settlement were discussed. It is concluded that the proposed crushed stone grouting pile with a rigid bearing plate is effective in decreasing the settlement of composite foundation. 展开更多

According to the morphological characteristics of crushed stone,the sphericity was introduced to establish the theoretical calculation model of volume fraction of interfacial transition zone(ITZ)around crushed stone.The sphericity of crushed stone was obtained by image processing technology and numerical statistics.The experimental results show that when the maximum particle size of coarse aggregate is less than 31.5 mm,the practical sphericity is generally around 0.75,while the sphericity of sand is generally above 0.85.And the closer to 1 the practical sphericity is,the smaller the ITZ volume fraction(V_(ITZ))is,that is,the closer to spherical shape the aggregate is,the lower the ITZ content in concrete is.The V_(ITZ) and ITZ thickness in concrete and mortar have a linear relationship,and the ITZ content in concrete is lower than that in mortar at the same aggregate volume fraction. 展开更多

Understanding Durability Problems with Dolerite in Roads in South Africa

Dolerite is one of the most widely used road pavement construction materials in South Africa and is classified as a basic crystalline rock. The variable performance of road pavements constructed with such rocks in South Africa has frequently been linked to the durability of the freshly crushed dolerite which can undergo rapid deterioration in service. This poor durability affects the life cycle of the road as they can fail prematurely. The prevailing conditions under which rapid deterioration of dolerite occurred on the road are somewhat contradictory. The objective of this study was to provide insight into what influences rapid deterioration in dolerite when used in the base course of road pavements. The evaluation was completed by conducting surveys, field investigations and laboratory experiments comprising mineralogical analyses and engineering tests. Surveys were done to identify the investigation sites. Field investigations comprise visual condition assessment of road pavement surface and pavement structure using test pits. Field investigations were followed by a sampling of material from the identified investigation sites for laboratory material testing. Laboratory testing included standard engineering soil tests and specialised techniques for mineralogical analysis. Two approaches for durability investigations were followed. For each approach, two samples were used (control sample and investigated sample), and the results of the sample investigated were compared with the control sample results. Findings from both approaches were compared. An interesting finding was that, contrary to conventional wisdom, not all of the dolerites investigated contained discernible smectite contents. 展开更多

The study aimed at the worn cement concrete which can not be reused in site,get recycled aggregate according to the practically technics of regenerate,and then carry out test study on the aggregate and recycle aggregate cement concrete. Test results show recycled fine aggregate is about 26% of recycled aggregate,and substantive sand pulps are adhere on the surface of recycled while the distinct crackle appears on this sand pulp surface. relative to the natural aggregate,one of the remarkable characters of the recycled aggregate is that the inartificial water ratio is relatively low and the water-absorbing ratio can reach 4%~12%,and the water-absorbing ratio increased while the grain getting fine. the second remarkable characters of recycled coarse aggregate is that the weared stone value and crushed stone value of recycled coarse aggregate are both bigger,the Los-angeles weared stone value is 32.7,the crushed stone value is 26.5. So,the recycled aggregate can not meet the criterion,but after mixed into 40% natural aggregate,it can meet. The mixture ratio test results proved that based on the dosage of cement we can through reduce water cement ratio and augment water quantity to improve the working performance of recycled concrete. The destroy form of recycled concrete goes all the way with natural concrete,the recycled aggregate can absolutely used in cement concrete under C50. 展开更多
