The influence of cutting conditions on tool wear has been focused on the turning process, and their influence on tool wear in milling process as well as the influence of tool wear on cutting force coefficients has not been investigated comprehensively. To fully understand the tool wear behavior in milling process with inserts, the influence of cutting parameters on tool wear in the milling of titanium alloys Ti6A14V by using indexable cutters is investigated. The tool wear rate and trends under different feed per tooth, cutting speed, axial depth of cut and radial depth of cut are analyzed. The results show that the feed rate per tooth and the radial depth of cut have a large influence on tool wear in milling Ti6A14V with coated insert. To reduce tool wear, cutting parameters for coated inserts under experimental cutting conditions are set as: feed rate per tooth less than 0.07 mm, radial depth of cut less than 1.0 mm, and cutting speed sets between 60 and 150 m/min. Investigation on the relationship between tool wear and cutting force coefficients shows that tangential edge constant increases with tool wear and cutter edge chipping can lead to a great variety of tangential cutting force coefficient. The proposed research provides the basic data for evaluating the machinability of milling Ti6A14V alloy with coated inserts, and the recommend cutting parameters can be immediately applied in practical production.展开更多

In this study, the relationships between the cutting parameters(such as the hole spacing L and the empty hole diameter D) and damage zones were investigated by numerical simulation. A damage state index γ was introduced and used to characterize the crushing and crack damage zones through a user-defined subroutine. Two indices, i.e., η1 and η2 that can reflect the cutting performance, were also introduced. The simulation results indicate that an optimal value of L can be obtained so that the η1 and η2 can reach their optimal states for the best cutting performance. A larger D results in better cutting performance when the L value maintains its best. In addition, the influences of the loading rate and the in-situ stress on the cutting performance were investigated. It is found that an explosive with a high loading rate is suit for cutting blasting. The propagation direction and the length of the tensile cracks are affected by the direction and the magnitude of the maximum principal stress.展开更多

The axial force increases with the increase of cutting speed, which is below 95 m/min; otherwise, the axial force decreases with the increase of cutting speed. The resultant force always increases when cutting speed increases; with the increase of tangential and axial feed rates, cutting forces increase gradually. In addition, damage rings can appear in certain regions of the entry edges; therefore, the relationship between machining performance(cutting forces and holemaking quality) and cutting parameters is established using the nonlinear fitting methodology. Thus, three cutting parameters in the helical milling of CFRP, under the steady state, are optimized based on the multi-objective genetic algorithm, including material removal rate and machining performance. Finally, experiments were carried out to prove the validity of optimized cutting parameters.展开更多

It is difficult to get satisfying results by using conventional linear sta- tistical methods. Recursive feature elimination based on support vector machine (SVM RFE) is an effective algorithm for gene selection and cancer classification, which are integrated into a consistent framework. In this paper, we propose a new method to select parameters of the aforementioned algorithm implemented with Gaussian kernel SVMs as better alternatives to the common practice of selecting the apparently best parameters by using a genetic algorithm to search for a couple of optimal parameter. Fast implementation issues for this method are also discussed for pragmatic reasons. The proposed method was tested on two repre- sentative hereditary breast cancer and acute leukaemia datasets. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method per- forms well in selecting genes and achieves high classification accuracies with these genes.展开更多

Setting parameters well is very crucial for SVM learning results and generalization ability, and now there is no systematic, general method for parameter selection. In this article, the SVM parameter selection for function approximation is regarded as a compound optimization problem and a mutative scale chaos optimization algorithm is employed to search for optimal paraxneter values. The chaos optimization algorithm is an effective way for global optimal and the mutative scale chaos algorithm could improve the search efficiency and accuracy. Several simulation examples show the sensitivity of the SVM parameters and demonstrate the superiority of this proposed method for nonlinear function approximation.展开更多

The results showed that selection curing of low and medium intensities caused little variation in the forest structure. After curing, the dominant species retained their leading status in the community. However, the community structure changed significantly following selection curing of high and extra-high intensities; the status of the dominant species of the community declined dramatically. Some tree species began to disappear from the sampling plots. Except for extra-high intensity curing, the diversity of tree species did not change significantly for the other three curing intensities. However, the evenness of the stands was very different among the four kinds of curing plots. For low and medium intensity selection cutting, the evenness declined slightly. For extra-high intensity selection curing, the evenness increased to some extent, which might be due to a more even distribution of tree species after curing. CuRing operations resulted in some adverse reactions to development of arborous species diversity of evergreen broad-leaved forest, particularly serious damage to the forest canopy. But the rational selection cuttings, which may benefit the restoration and maintenance of species diversity over a long period and may come about from the variations in environmental factors such as sunlight, temperature and humidity.展开更多

In order to solve the problem, the process and mechanism of combined cutting arc studied and mining seepage catastrophe theory is used to construct the mathematic and physical model of combined cutting hard coal-rock. Based on the model and detailed analysis of combined cutting mechanism, the single pick and nozzle combined cutting test-bed is built to test the main pick and nozzle location parameters of drum shearer and water jet combined cutting system. Test results show that the best vertical distance between the pick-tip and nozzle center point is the sum of cutting thickness and proper target distance in the Y axial direction; the best horizontal distance is the length between pick-tip point and coal-rock surface bursting crack point in the X axial direction. The best incident angle of water jet should be the same as the bursting crack line's angle in theory, but considering other important factors comprehensively, it is more reasonable when the incident angle of water jet is 90°.展开更多

In the selection cutting forest, individuals with small DBH classes characterized size distribution. The virgin forest, on the other hand, was mainly composed of individuals having larger DBH classes. The density of dominant species and the species diversity at tree stratum in the selection-cutting stand was significantly larger than that of in the primeval forest. The shrub layer also showed a similar result. However, the herb layer had comparatively low species diversity. Large growing space and strong light in the artificial gaps must have provided opportunities for the species of shade tolerance or shade intolerance to establish on the stand. The juveniles of non-pioneer species, which were hardly found in highly shaded virgin forest, were also released by the disturbance. Regeneration in the selection-cutting stand was prompted by the disturbance, where the density of saplings occurred nearly 3 times as much as that in the virgin stand. The growth of shrub layer was improved due to the alteration in light condition. The projection volume of the herb layer was less affected. Restoration of a semi-virgin forest to the original status after selection cutting could be possible in several decades. However, for those subjected to clear cutting, it might take several centuries. In order to promote biodiversity, it is reasonable to practice selection cutting in communities for consisting of species with various levels of shade tolerance.展开更多

The data consisted of 10 952 individuals of 508 full-sib families from three generations(G0, G1, and G2). The heritability estimates for G0, G1, and G2 were 0.11±0.08, 0.18±0.09, and 0.17±0.07, respectively. Over three generations, the heritability estimate was 0.19±0.04. Maternal and common environmental effects were 0.10±0.04, 0.14±0.04, and0.13±0.03 within each generation and 0.12±0.01 across generations. The selection differential in growth was 18.24 g in G0 and 21.19 g in G1 corresponding to an average of 19.72 g per generation. The genetic gains were also calculated, they were 22.06 g in G1 and 11.93 g in G2, corresponding to 6.36% and 3.52% body weight. The total genetic gain after two generations was 10.10% body weight, which indicated that the selective breeding program for the body weight trait in turbot was successful.展开更多

However, fewer categories of water quality parameters can be monitored by remote sensing technology than the 35 specified in GB3097-1997 Marine Water Quality Standard. Therefore, we considered which parameters must be selected by remote sensing and how to model for water quality evaluation using the finite parameters. In this paper, focused on Leizhou Peninsula nearshore waters, we found N, P, COD, PH and DO to be the dominant parameters of water quality by analyzing measured data. Then, mathematical statistics was used to determine that the relationship among the five parameters was COD〉DO〉P〉N〉pH. Finally, five-parameter, fourparameter and three-parameter water quality evaluation models were established and compared. The results showed that COD, DO, P and N were the necessary parameters for remote sensing evaluation of the Leizhou Peninsula nearshore water quality, and the optimal comprehensive water quality evaluation model was the four- parameter model. This work may serve as a reference for monitoring the quality of other marine waters by remote sensing.展开更多

Analytical stain wave solutions are derived for the two transducer shapes, giving the responses of these transducers in Lamb wave fields. The analytical study is supported by a numericM simulation using the finite element method. Symmetric and antisymmetric components in the wave propagation responses are inspected in detail with respect to test parameters such as the transducer geometry, the length and the excitation frequency. By placing only one piezoelectric transducer on the top or the bottom surface of the plate and weakening the strength of one mode while enhancing the strength of the other modes to find the centre frequency, with which the peak wave amplitude ratio between the SO and A0 modes is maximum, a single mode excitation from the multiple modes of the Lamb waves can be achieved approximately. Experimental data are presented to show the validity of the analyses. The results are used to optimize the Lamb wave detection system.展开更多

文摘The influence of surface conditions on the corrosion behavior of engineering structures has been paid more attention. However, there is still a lack of systematic research on the effect of cutting parameters on material’s microstructure and performance in service. In this paper, the effect of cutting parameters on microstructure and corrosion behaviors of 304 stainless steel in simulated primary water is well investigated. The results show that different cutting parameters can cause the superficial layer a gradient microstructure with nanocrystalized layer on top and deformation band structures underneath. With the similar surface roughness, the deformation microstructure can be very different due to the different cutting parameters. The effect degree on the depth of deformation zone is feed rate>cutting depth>cutting speed. The larger feed rate, lower cutting depth, lower cutting rate may induce a deeper deformation zone. With the increasing depth away from the machined surface, the localized corrosion rate is decreased, and at the same depth the localized corrosion rate along the deformation bands is higher than that along the grain boundaries(GBs).The nanocrystalized surface has a smallest general corrosion rate due to the quick formation of Cr rich oxide film. However, once the corrosion penetrates through this nanocrystalized layer, subsequent preferential corrosion at deformation bands and GBs will dominate and may lead to the significant increase of corrosion rate of the component in high temperature pressurized water.

文摘In microarray-based cancer classification, gene selection is an important issue owing to the large number of variables and small number of samples as well as its non-linearity. The experimental results indicate that the proposed method per- forms well in selecting genes and achieves high classification accuracies with these genes.

文摘The support vector machine (SVM) is a novel machine learning method, which has the ability to approximate nonlinear functions with arbitrary accuracy. Several simulation examples show the sensitivity of the SVM parameters and demonstrate the superiority of this proposed method for nonlinear function approximation.

文摘The short-term effects of selection curing of different intensities on the forest structure and species diversity of evergreen broad-leaved forest in northern Fujian Province were investigated and analyzed. But the rational selection cuttings, which may benefit the restoration and maintenance of species diversity over a long period and may come about from the variations in environmental factors such as sunlight, temperature and humidity.

文摘The drum shearer and high pressure water jet combined cutting system is an effective technology to cut hard coal-rock, but one problem of the technology is the choice of pick and nozzle location parameters. The best incident angle of water jet should be the same as the bursting crack line's angle in theory, but considering other important factors comprehensively, it is more reasonable when the incident angle of water jet is 90°.
文摘The modification in structure, composition, and diversity, shrub, as well as herb strata ofPinus koraiensis-Tilia amurensis-Abies nephrolepis forest after 16a of selection cutting in northeastern China was studied. In order to promote biodiversity, it is reasonable to practice selection cutting in communities for consisting of species with various levels of shade tolerance.

文摘Genetic parameters and response to selection were estimated for harvest body weight in turbot. The total genetic gain after two generations was 10.10% body weight, which indicated that the selective breeding program for the body weight trait in turbot was successful.

文摘Using remote sensing technology for water quality evaluation is an inevitable trend in marine environmental monitoring. This work may serve as a reference for monitoring the quality of other marine waters by remote sensing.

文摘Excitation and propagation of Lamb waves by using rectangular and circular piezoelectric transducers surface- bonded to an isotropic plate are investigated in this work. The results are used to optimize the Lamb wave detection system.
